In this work, we present a sediment provenance study based on a compilation of 41 Cambrian-Early Devonian siliciclastic samples from the Moroccan Meseta. All of them are characterized by late Tonian-Ediacaran (c. 600 Ma, c. 50% of the data), Rhyacian-Orosirian (c. 2100 Ma, c. 20% of the data), and Neoarchean (c. 2500 Ma, c. 4% of the data)detrital zircon age populations indicating a strong West African Craton affinity. Minor populations are: (i) Cambrian-Ordovician (c. 500 Ma), particularly relevant in Lower Ordovician samples, which were probably sourced by local volcanic centers formed during an aborted rift; (ii) Stenian-early Tonian (c. 1000 Ma); and (iii) Orosirian-Statherian (c. 1800 Ma). These two latter populations were probably fed by paleocurrents from NE-African regions (e.g., Sahara Metacraton and Arabian-Nubian Shield) that reached only intermittently the studied area. Finally, the spatial and chronological distribution of the detrital zircon age populations suggests that the tectonic boundaries normally used to separate internal subdomains in northern Morocco did not imply far-travelled terranes during early-middle Paleozoic times.","PeriodicalId":37493,"journal":{"name":"Geogaceta","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46098619","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A consequence of this is a strong directional dependence of their elastic properties, which are tightly bound to their texture. The Rietveld analysis applied to synchrotron x-ray diffraction images of slates from the Truchas Syncline (NW Iberian Peninsula) will provide us with the orientation distribution function (ODF) of the principal minerals that constitute the rock. This textural analysis shows an exceptional alignment of phyllosilicates (muscovite and chlorite) in contrast with a poor orientation of other minerals such as quartz. In a later treatment of the data, the elastic properties of the slates, as well the variations of the seismic wave velocities, have been calculated from the ODF and the single crystal stiffness tensors. The results of both the elastic properties and the wave velocities can be used for the construction of models that allow to understand the reflections of seismic waves in markedly anisotropic materials, which is a matter of a great interest in the studies of the Earth’s lithosphere with seismic methods.","PeriodicalId":37493,"journal":{"name":"Geogaceta","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49491175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

En este yacimiento, el Se es un elemento traza presente en la mineralización, y se ha observado que el agua drenada de la actividad minera presenta concentraciones anómalas de este metaloide. En este trabajo se aborda minimizar la presencia de Se en el agua a partir una caracterización exhaustiva del sistema agua-roca a través de una caracterización geoquímica y mineralógica de muestras procedentes de sondeos de drenaje. Los resultados verificaron la presencia de Se en la mineralización. Durante la ejecución de los sondeos, no se detectó presencia de agua al atravesar los materiales del skarn. Sin embargo, las pruebas de lixiviación con agua destilada sobre el skarn magnésico, mostraron una elevada movilidad del Se, al contrario de lo ocurrido en el caso del skarn cálcico. Por otra parte, durante la perforación de la caliza, se detectó presencia de aguas enriquecidas en Se. En consecuencia, se propuso un sistema de impermeabilización para evitar las interacciones agua-roca en los materiales de la mineralización y en las zonas de caliza que presenten fracturas con mineralización diseminada.","PeriodicalId":37493,"journal":{"name":"Geogaceta","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43412196","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

La edad aparente de sus aguas ha sido determinada, lo que ha permitido diferenciar cuatro cuerpos de agua en cada uno de estos acuíferos: agua dulce, interfase, agua marina y paleoagua de mar. Los cuerpos de agua dulce y marina han sido datados como recientes, registrando el paleoagua de mar valores en torno a 10 ka. La interfase muestra una edad intermedia. En la llanura de Cabo de Gata, el paleoagua presenta una salinidad superior al agua de mar, mientras en el delta del Andarax la salinidad es idéntica al agua de mar actual. El contraste de densidades entre los diferentes cuerpos de agua condiciona la geometría y el grado de avance de estos cuerpos en el acuífero. La evolución paleogeográfica ha jugado un papel importante en la configuración actual de estos acuíferos.","PeriodicalId":37493,"journal":{"name":"Geogaceta","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44127660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, most shallow ores have already been exploited and only deep targets remain unexplored. This work aims to apply indirect geophysical techniques to the San Finx Sn-W deposit (A Coruña) in order to get further constrains of its deep structure and geometry. Accordingly, a magnetic and a gravity survey have been carried out in the area (SE of Noia, A Coruña), at the southern part of the Malpica-Tui Complex. The resulting absolute magnetic anomaly and the relative gravity anomaly have been studied analytically and through 2-2.75D forward modeling. Results indicate that, the sampling interval (~1 km) is too high to characterize the anomalies related to the Sn-W mineralization. Contrarily, they show the potential field imprint of the regional Variscan tectonics. To better assess the relationship between the regional Variscan tectonics and the mineralization, a higher resolution survey should be acquired to detect this deposit.","PeriodicalId":37493,"journal":{"name":"Geogaceta","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41418974","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The interpretation of these datasets is often performed as a laborious and time-consuming trial-and-error procedure, in which the relevant model parameters (layer thickness and VP) are manually adjusted until the forward modeling matches the observed travel-times. In this work, we present a fully automatic iterative nonlinear approach to invert WA datasets based on the simulated annealing technique. We test our proposed approach with data from the MARCONI-3 WA profile (southern Bay of Biscay) and compare the outcome with an existing detailed interpretation, discussing the similarities between the two models and the agreement between our model and the observed travel-times.","PeriodicalId":37493,"journal":{"name":"Geogaceta","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47961147","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
