The overall well-being& perception of health in humans, very much depends on skin health & beauty. Skin plays a vital role in immunity& protects the body against pathogens, maintains water and electrolyte balance & also regulates body temperature. Epidermis is the protective covering over the body surface which serves as a barrier to infection. Thinning of this epidermal layer, loosening of collagen & elastic fiber, leads to the wrinkle formation and causes ageing. Ageing occurs due to the intrinsic factors like genetics, cellular metabolism, hormone & metabolic process or extrinsic factors like sun exposure, smoking, diet and pollution. In this era of modern science, people choose natural herbs rather than plastic surgery or laser therapy for not only looking younger but also to reduce complications. Herbs help in biological functioning of the skin & supplies nutrients required for healthy skin. Herbs contain several phytochemicals like carotenoids, terpenoids, polyphenols which possesses anti-aging activity. A few herb which shows anti-aging activity includes, Aloe, Cucumber, Ginseng, Honey, Wheat, Liquorice, Arjuna, Jatamansi etc.","PeriodicalId":374764,"journal":{"name":"Indian Research Journal of Pharmacy and Science","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116747932","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Research Methodology: The research approach is qualitative and Cross-sectional descriptive study design. The 200 adult people living closed to the Germen leprosy hospital Chennai was selected as study samples, and the convenient sampling techniques was used to select the study samples. Data were collected and analysed by descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: Perceived stigma towards leprosy was found highest among participants with age 50 years or older, more than 10 years duration of stay in community close to the leprosy colony, and participants who were illiterate had higher perceived stigma and the association of level of knowledge among people who is living nearby leprosy hospital with the selected demographic variables was determined using Chi-Square test, reveals that there is no significant association between the level of knowledge and selected socio demographic variables. Similarly, perceptions about leprosy such as; difficult to treat (P<0.01), severe disease (P<0.05).) and punishment by God (p < 0.01) were significantly associated with higher perceived stigma","PeriodicalId":374764,"journal":{"name":"Indian Research Journal of Pharmacy and Science","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128960026","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Peptic ulcer, which is also known as PUD or peptic ulcer disease, is an ulcer (mucosal erosions equal to or greater than 0.5 cm) of an area of the gastrointestinal tract that is usually acidic and results extreme pain. Symptoms include abdominal pain with severity relating to mealtimes, after around 3 hours of taking a meal; starvation; oily and spicy food intake; bloating and abdominal fullness; nausea, and copious vomiting; loss of appetite and weight loss etc. There are many herbs, nutrients, and plant products that have been found to play a role in protecting or helping to heal stomach and peptic ulcers. Few human trials are available, but many have shown good potential in animal or in vitro studies. And the present study was aimed to collect information on various herbs which are used in treating Peptic Ulcer in various parts of the world, depending upon the data’s provided by various researchers.","PeriodicalId":374764,"journal":{"name":"Indian Research Journal of Pharmacy and Science","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123251648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted over 4 months in the outpatients section of the pharmacy department in two tertiary care hospitals: King Abdulaziz Medical City, Riyadh, and King Fahad Medical City. Participants were randomly selected to complete the USP-MCBG questionnaire, and gave their full consent to the data collector. USP-MCBG questionnaire is an interactive approach between the patient and the pharmacist, which takes into account the patient’s special needs, beliefs and perceptions about medication use .The questionnaire included 33 items with a two-point response scale. The questionnaire was divided into four sections corresponding to the four stages of the medication counseling process. Results: During the study period, 520 subjects were enrolled and of these, 486 responded to our questionnaire (response rate: 93%). The study population was gender balanced; most respondents (88%) were Saudi nationals, and 49% reported having at least high school education. There were no differences between the socio-demographic profiles of participants at the two study sites. The overall mean USP-MCBG score of satisfaction was 3.18 ± 0.11 (highest score is 5). Within subsections of the questionnaire, ‘Management of treatment’ scored the highest (1.14 ± 0.05) and ‘Communication’ scored the lowest (0.35 ± 0.03). In terms of medication counseling, more than >80% of patients had a positive perception and were satisfied with the performance of outpatient pharmacists. At almost all stages of the counseling process, there was a slightly inversely proportional relationship between patient age and satisfaction with pharmacist performance.Conclusion: Using the USP-MCB guidelines, patients’ perception of and satisfaction with pharmacists counseling in the outpatient setting was positive. Greater effort is needed to ensure effective counseling services in particular subpopulations, such as in the elderly. In general, patients were more satisfied with pharmacist counseling pertinent to “management of treatment”, however, they were less satisfied regarding the pharmacists’ way of communication.","PeriodicalId":374764,"journal":{"name":"Indian Research Journal of Pharmacy and Science","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123589028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
