In order to obtain precise data about seagrass distribution in optical shallow water in Xincun Bay of Hainan province, Quickbird data was used in the paper. Radiance transfer model in optical shallow water was used to retrieve the information of bottom reflectivity, and supervise classification was used to retrieve the distribution and density of submerged seagrass; Results showed that seagrass distributed in the northeast coast of Xincun Bay with the pattern of stripe can be clearly detected. Density gradient was very clear, coverage under 20% was mainly distributed at the out range of seagrass bed and coverage greater than 80% distributed in the centre of the seagrass bed. The accuracy of seagrass retrieval was more than 80% and the density of seagrass can also be distinguished evidently.","PeriodicalId":373922,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Workshop on Imaging Systems and Techniques","volume":"58 5","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133524112","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With fast searching speed and high detection rate, the algorithm is packed into codec and put on the DSP-side for remote call. Application on the ARM-side captures face images from camera and outputs detection results to computer monitor. Experimental results demonstrated that the implemented eye detection system on DM6446 can search and locate eyes effectively with little chip resources required.","PeriodicalId":373922,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Workshop on Imaging Systems and Techniques","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127645864","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But visible seams, blurring, or ghosting effects may occur in the overlapping regions for real image stitching. One approach to solve this problem is to find some kinds of seams in regions where the images agree, and then a weighted or blended integrating can be carried out around the pixels on the seams, which makes the transitions from one image to the other not visible. The traditional dynamic programming based method is proved to be effective to find such optimal seam but has an obvious drawback that its searching direction is restricted, so that it is not suitable to find an optimal seam connecting two specified points which is often required for sequential image stitching. Facing the above problem, a new optimal seam definition based on minimum cost is given, and then an optimal seam selection method based on enhanced dynamic programming is proposed in this paper. The analysis and visual results of our experiments using some real airborne sequential images show that, the approach proposed in this paper can handle significant structure misalignment and eliminates structure seam for the global seamless image stitching.","PeriodicalId":373922,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Workshop on Imaging Systems and Techniques","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115102691","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, we studied Fourier, angular radial transform and image moment descriptors for shape representation. Since shape is one of the most widely used image feature exploited in content-based image retrieval systems, we studied for each descriptor, the number of coefficients needed for indexing and their retrieval performance. Results showed that moment descriptors present the best performance in both terms of shape representation quality as well as in the amount of required coefficients.","PeriodicalId":373922,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Workshop on Imaging Systems and Techniques","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116370589","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The suggested methodology is based on preservation of important second order correlation (“textural”) features of either DWT coefficients or image pixel intensities. While rival image compression methodologies utilizing the DWT apply it to the whole original image uniformly, the herein presented novel approach involves a sophisticated DWT application scheme. That is, different compression ratios are applied to the wavelet coefficients belonging in the different regions of interest, in which either each wavelet domain band of the transformed image or the image itself is clustered, respectively, employing textural descriptors as criteria. Restoration of the original MRI image from its corresponding regions of interest compressed images involves the inverse DWT and a sophisticated Bayesian restoration approach which does not require user defined parameters, since all parameters are subject to the same optimization process. An experimental study is conducted to qualitatively assessing all approaches in comparison with the original DWT compression technique, when applied to a set of brain MRI images.","PeriodicalId":373922,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Workshop on Imaging Systems and Techniques","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122053949","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When using portable image capture device, non-ideal iris images are often obtained. Hence, this paper presents a novel algorithm for accurate and fast iris segmentation. By combining level set theory with variational method, probabilistic active contour model (PAC) is established. In addition, region information and probability distribution are used as stop terms. Under this model, initial curve is iteratively driven towards iris boundaries. In the evolving process, eyelids, eyelashes, reflections and shadows are simultaneously detected. Experimental results on iris image database demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms state-of-the-art methods in both accuracy and speed.","PeriodicalId":373922,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Workshop on Imaging Systems and Techniques","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125348128","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents the design, implementation and evaluation of a 3-D imaging system based on optical sectioning tomography to reconstruct the temperature distribution of candlelight. A 3-D luminous object can be regarded as a combination of a series of two dimensional luminous sections. Hence, based on superposition theorem, the original luminosity distribution of each section can be retrieved from focused and defocused images taken by focusing on each of sections with a single CCD camera. From the relationship between the gray level of image and the temperature, the 3-D distribution of flame temperature can be reconstructed. The experimental results on candlelight prove the feasibility of the method which can be used as a new measurement and diagnostic tool for quantitative characterization of combustion flame.","PeriodicalId":373922,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Workshop on Imaging Systems and Techniques","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123348744","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With more and more decoration purpose, more and more luminaire models are derived and the heating tests of luminaire become time-consuming. Under such situation, a thermal-imaging based automatic luminaire heating test system is under development to improve efficiency. The system is designed to present the testing result and verdict report to the end users according to luminaire safety standard. With case study method, this paper presents three type of residual safety problems even the luminaire testing results are in compliance with the luminaire safety standard. After applying the 2-level DT-CWT to the cover grayscale image, we apply the SVD to each high-pass subband obtained. The singular values in each subband are then modified by the singular values of the DT-CWT-transformed visual watermark. Modification in all subbands allows the development of a watermarking scheme that is robust to a wide range of attacks. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed watermarking scheme is highly robust to various attacks.","PeriodicalId":373922,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Workshop on Imaging Systems and Techniques","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127714432","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
