No black tide from space but the waves de-wrinkled by the stuff of life white as sperm. “Oil smoothes the ocean”, Michon Scott from NASA said, “as a result, the oil slick is brighter than the surrounding water”. Pristine and effervescent, it wears the guise of holiness. “Bright white ribbons”, “tendrils”, “the bird’s-foot part of the delta”, Scott reports from Greenbelt, Maryland; his eyes glued to the flickering screen. From a demonstration and pilot perspective, the list of feedstocks processed expands to include biomass, river and petrochemical sludges, ash and over 100 other feedstocks. Westinghouse Plasma Gasification technology provide energy solutions that are commercially proven, environmentally friendly, flexible and economical. Westinghouse Plasma provide service and support for engineering, equipment, design integration, start-up support and service parts, from greenfield solutions to meet the needs of new power or liquids production to retrofits of aging coal and oil fired power generation facilities. Inorganic and saleable products can be recovered from the plasma gasification process. Ferrous iron and fine aggregate are recovered from the molten material exiting the plasma gasification reactor, in addition to crystalline sulfur produced through syngas clean-up. The separation of mixed metals occurs when the molten material from the reactor is discharged into a quench bath. This results in metal modules which are then separated from the aggregate. The remaining slag material, consisting of a wide range of elements, primarily silica, can be used in numerous construction applications and products. All materials recovered add commercial value to the plasma gasification process.","PeriodicalId":373777,"journal":{"name":"Fueling Culture","volume":"319 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134236226","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The project realised the installation of a 99KW decentralised mini-grid, two energy centres and two stand-alone power units that will sell power to three irrigation schemes, five business centres, a clinic, a school and a study centre.
