In aerospace engineering, aircraft and gas turbine engine components are designed based on design curves. To ensure safety and reliability, influence of life and fatigue scatter model uncertainty on design curve construction is analyzed by comparing capability to describe fatigue scatter. Design curve with different models are calculated based on Ti-64 fatigue tests data. In addition, the number of test points is also discussed in this paper. Finally, a new curve design approach based on Bayesian is proposed for small fatigue tests sample, which is more conservative than traditional way.","PeriodicalId":371629,"journal":{"name":"2016 7th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"434 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122803554","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Al2Cu was the main developed interfacial IMCs in the sound join; besides existence of a lamellar composite structure within the stir zone. The maximum bending angle was reached beyond 150° without any failure for optimum joint caused by proper mixing of materials. Thinness, continuity, and uniformity were the main observed characteristics of developed IMCs in the sound joint.","PeriodicalId":371629,"journal":{"name":"2016 7th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124012561","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A reaction wheel system has been one of the effective method for a satellite attitude control. However, the attitude control system generally becomes huge and heavy. To overcome this problem, a spherical reaction wheel system was proposed. Although, the system has ability to miniaturize an attitude control system, a driving mechanism for a spherical rotor tends to be huge due to difficulty of three dimensional rotation. In a proposed system, small DC motors are used to drive a spherical rotor to realize a small and lightweight attitude control system. We conduct experiments on attitude control of a satellite model with a spherical rotor by applying two-degree-of-freedom controller.","PeriodicalId":371629,"journal":{"name":"2016 7th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"112 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124292344","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These steels find use in both automotive industry and (thanks to reduced weight of structural parts) aircraft industry. New possibilities emerged at the beginning of this century, when the effect of strain-induced transformation of γ phase was attempted to be applied in austenitic steels. Particularly the high manganese steels are extremely ductile austenitic steels characterized by a high rate of work hardening resulting from the generation of deformation-nucleated twins and possibly combined with the deformation induced formation of martensite. Capability of energy absorption is much bigger in comparison with conventional steels. This paper deals with the description of the phase composition of two heats of steel with 15 wt. % of manganese after annealing after cold rolling with 40% reduction of thickness. Various methods of phase analysis have been used: colour etching, EBSD and X-ray diffraction.","PeriodicalId":371629,"journal":{"name":"2016 7th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128621537","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The integrated equations, γ-Reθt model and γ-Reθt-CF model, solving computational fluid dynamics analysis are coupled with Spalart-Allmaras turbulence model. In order to validate and assess the accuracy of the model in predicting the boundary layer transition, a series of transition flows are simulated including S809 airfoil, 30P30N multi-element airfoil and 6:1 prolate spheroid standard model. The results show the modified SU2 suite can predict transition accurately in various flow conditions such as natural transition and crossflow transition. The capacity and accuracy of the SU2 software suite in the numerical simulation can be greatly enhanced.","PeriodicalId":371629,"journal":{"name":"2016 7th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116477579","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This configuration provides direct angular acceleration measurements that will be of great value once the quaternion dynamical equation is solved using Unscented Kalman filter. Various new states and measurements models based on the rotational quaternion are presented. Using this approach, estimating the attitude of a vehicle using linear accelerometers along with gyroscopes enables a completely passive attitude estimation under the simultaneous actions of vehicle varying center of gravity position, unknown varying gravitational field, and an accelerating vehicle without any singularity being involved in the states or measurements models which were not reported in the related literature to the best of authors' knowledge.","PeriodicalId":371629,"journal":{"name":"2016 7th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127111040","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a method of modal decoupling of Operational Deflection Shapes (ODS) was proposed to investigate the dynamic behavior of machine tool with respect to different worktable feed rates. Based on this method, the dominant frequencies vibration of the machine tool at different frequencies and its transformation at different worktable feed rates was identified. Finally, a series of empty running experiments were performed under different worktable feed rates. The experimental results show that (i) the change of worktable feed rate will affect the contribution of different modes vibration to the machine tool vibration; (ii) the contribution of a certain mode vibration to the machine tool vibration is different at different worktable feed rates; (iii) with the worktable feed rate increasing, the change rule of dominant frequency vibration participation is from multimode participation to single mode dominant, and then to the multimode participation. This research will provide valuable information for the selection of machine tool operation parameters and the optimization design of machine tool structure.","PeriodicalId":371629,"journal":{"name":"2016 7th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"25 22","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120860724","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Compressor is a key component in vapor compression heat pump. It is essential to study its adaptability under micro-gravity. In this paper, an experimental system was built up to test the performance of inverted compressor subjected to micro-gravity. The performance of compressor upright and inverted was compared. The influence of compressor speed on the performance of vapor compression heat pump was investigated. The results showed that the inverted compressor could be considered gravity-independent because of normal operation. Compressor discharge temperature and power increased with compressor speed. However, the COP(Coefficient of Performance) was less than that of compressor upright. The maximum COP obtained with upright and inverted compressor were 8.4 and 7.6, respectively. The experiment subject to micro-gravity of vapor compressor heat pump provides an experimental basis and lays foundation for future space applications.","PeriodicalId":371629,"journal":{"name":"2016 7th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE)","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128406686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
