This adaptation process is observed in the design world today and in the future. Proof of the adaptation process is carried out by calculating physical analysis to find out the extent to which this tropical consideration is carried out. The process of adapting Dutch Colonial architecture to a humid tropical climate is expected to be able to provoke the creativity of architects in designing buildings properly without using artificial air conditioning equipment. The arrangement of interior layout, outer space and mass management as well as the environmental pattern of this Dutch residential area with the completion of the detailed construction planned to anticipate tropical problems have really been carried out properly.","PeriodicalId":371389,"journal":{"name":"5th International Conference of Contemporary Affairs in Architecture and Urbanism","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130330701","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Last datas showed a concentration of the population in the metropolitan areas and a depopulation of the inland rural areas with resident ageing population – mostly in Alentejo-Algarve border. However, this could be perceived as an opportunity rather than a problem in dealing with depopulated villages. Two case studies were selected, the Home-Village of São José de Alcalar and Monte da Palhagueira, both located in the same rural region (Algarve). The historic city centre of Dhaka (currently known as Puran Dhaka or Old Dhaka) which was conceived around the Pre-Mughal era and holds a lot of history and heritage of the region. This historic site has further been neglected, and most of the urban development has been done without integrating this part of the city into the plans. As a result, the festivals that take place traditionally throughout the year in this area create a greater impact on the urban fabric of the whole city. These festivals generate a huge amount of visitors and play a huge role in shaping the identity of the people. This paper will attempt to look at the importance of these traditions, the way these festivals are influencing the urban life of the community, and whether or not it has any significant effect on the economy. Through the use of both primary and secondary sources and SWOT analysis, this paper will attempt to identify the issues faced during these festivals. This paper will also try to suggest some basic remedies based on general comparisons between case studies of similar festivals celebrated globally and how these countries are dealing with such issues while also promoting tourism.","PeriodicalId":371389,"journal":{"name":"5th International Conference of Contemporary Affairs in Architecture and Urbanism","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121601831","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Said changes in the field of information have affected the sources of information, and while altering people's habits of acquiring information, they have presented a new vision with new roles for libraries. This situation required libraries to be reinterpreted with design criteria that affect the function and architectural formation in order to adapt to the new roles. In this study, it is aimed to examine the new design criteria on how developments in Information and Communication Technologies affect the function and architectural formation of 21 st century libraries and how they differentiate them from traditional libraries. Within the scope of the study, the functional and architectural design features of three next-generation library buildings selected from different countries were analyzed within the scope of a set of new design criteria. As a result of the research, it has been seen that the 21 st century libraries present a new vision with integrated information technologies and architectures as per new design criteria. It has been determined this vision reflects a user-oriented design product that supports social, educational learning and teaching models and makes positive contributions to urban life with its new iconic architectures.","PeriodicalId":371389,"journal":{"name":"5th International Conference of Contemporary Affairs in Architecture and Urbanism","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126336364","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In our case we studied the section of National Highway 3 (RN3). In the environment of sampling sites there is no industry or dangerous activity on the environment, the heavy metals addressed in this study are (Pb, Cu, Cr, Fe, Ni, Zn), their origin being road traffic. Results indicated that concentrations in road dust were higher than in soil. The distribution of heavy metal concentrations in dust is Fe>Pb>Zn>Cu>Cr>Ni, and the distribution in the ground is Fe>Pb>Cu>Zn>Cr>Ni in the direction of Biskra and in the opposite direction and decreases everything away from the road, while the distribution in the central solid ground is Fe> Cu>Cr>Cr>Zn>Ni. Climatic conditions such as wind, rainfall, temperature, humidity and the nature of the terrain were also significantly related to their enrichment in these roadside soils. the concentrations of these métals in road dust were generally higher than those in soils. Various pulications have examined the spatial distribution of heavy metals in dust and surface soils next to roads and their orogins.Kamani, M. [9]; They showed that the increase in anthropogenic trace metal elements in the surface environment can most likely be attributed to urbanization, rapid industrialization and increased vehicle emissions into the atmosphere. They revealed that the distribution of heavy metals in soil samples is affected by wind direction. They concluded that concentrations of these metals in soils are higher on the surface but decrease in low-lying areas and that the highest level of metals was found in eastern parts of roads due to prevailing wind. Also, levels of contamination of these metals decrease as one moves away from the side of the road. Authors have revealed that automobile traffic is the main source of pollution from road dust and adjacent soils with a contribution of more than 50%. In addition, unregulated incineration and hazardous waste dumps along the road were responsible for these contaminations.","PeriodicalId":371389,"journal":{"name":"5th International Conference of Contemporary Affairs in Architecture and Urbanism","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116052672","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Accordingly, the present study focused on the design approaches of today's female architects, and furthermore, the sources used in their designs, their focal concepts, and the formal language of their forms were investigated. In this context, ten well-known contemporary female architects were included in the scope of the study. A dual methodical pattern, namely textual analysis and visual analysis, was used for the purposes of the study. The texts of female architects, which described their projects, were conceptually analyzed using the textual analysis method, where their formal language was analyzed by means of the visual analysis method. The data were then organized into data sets and presented in tabular format. The results of the present study indicated that the female architects mostly made use of nature and socio-cultural elements in their designs and considered the data therefrom as an important input to be incorporated into their design. On the other hand, although they had similar points of departure in terms of design, they did not have a common language in terms of form. The results of the study suggested that the selected female architects considered multiple factors in their designs. Among those, the female architects most frequently emphasized the natural environment factor. Approaches such as incorporating geography into design, making use of existing vegetation, using climatic data, emulating and being inspired by nature were indicative of how close the female architects were to nature and that they used nature as a source of design. For the female architects, the nature was beyond a design problem to deal with, it was an element that must be protected, cared for, and incorporated into the design. As a matter of fact, they were inclined towards free forms that relate to nature in the forms of their produce.","PeriodicalId":371389,"journal":{"name":"5th International Conference of Contemporary Affairs in Architecture and Urbanism","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134400885","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
