Executives must maintain supply chain issues more efficiently to reach such credentials. Supply chains along with sustainability are being practiced to attain such success as sustainability use triple bottom line theory. The poultry industry in Bangladesh, which is the focus of this paper, has a long forward and reverse supply chain. The perception is that this chain can be taken advantage of in achieving economic, social and environmental sustainability utilizing forward chain and waste resources. Understanding the forward and reverse supply chain is seen as the key for social, economic and environmental development. The objective of this paper is to review related literature and develop a conceptual sustainable supply chain model for the poultry industry. The model will be tested using real life data to study the impact of forward and reverse supply chain over society, economy and the environment.","PeriodicalId":370896,"journal":{"name":"POL: Environmental Responsibility Practices (Topic)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126605120","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
{"title":"Applying Reverse Supply Chain in the Poultry Industry","authors":"M. Attention to supply chain management has progressively amplified since the 1980s when firms realized mutual profitable relationships within and beyond their own organizations. In time, reverse supply chain issues also came to the fore with the focus on the environment, product return back, waste reduction, recycle and re-use. In this research project, the existing poultry industry in Bangladesh is used as a case study to explore a new model for reverse supply chain management. The objectives of this paper are twofold; first, it offers a review on existing reverse supply chain literature; second, it offers a conceptual reverse supply chain process model in the light of poultry industries in Bangladesh. The model has been developed through taking in-depth interviews with leading poultry entrepreneurs. The paper also focuses on three Rs (Recycle, Reuse, and Reduce) of reverse supply chain along with supply chain management in the root of poultry industry.","PeriodicalId":370896,"journal":{"name":"POL: Environmental Responsibility Practices (Topic)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114140704","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
