Abstract

In addition to profit, industries are becoming more responsive to social and environment issues that are striving to become stakeholder friendly. Executives must maintain supply chain issues more efficiently to reach such credentials. Supply chains along with sustainability are being practiced to attain such success as sustainability use triple bottom line theory. The poultry industry in Bangladesh, which is the focus of this paper, has a long forward and reverse supply chain. The perception is that this chain can be taken advantage of in achieving economic, social and environmental sustainability utilizing forward chain and waste resources. Understanding the forward and reverse supply chain is seen as the key for social, economic and environmental development. The objective of this paper is to review related literature and develop a conceptual sustainable supply chain model for the poultry industry. The model will be tested using real life data to study the impact of forward and reverse supply chain over society, economy and the environment.
