However, it is\u0000also associated with increased heart rate and reduced heart rate\u0000variability. In this study, we investigate the effect of liraglutide in\u0000patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). Methods: TriNetX global research\u0000network provided aggregate data for this retrospective cohort study of\u0000AF patients on liraglutide that were matched to AF patients not on\u0000liraglutide from January 1, 2016, through November 13, 2021. Primary\u0000outcomes were all-cause mortality, ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke,\u0000acute heart failure episode, and acute coronary syndrome episode.\u0000Results: 16,214 AF patients on liraglutide were propensity score matched\u0000to AF patients not on liraglutide. They were matched for demographics,\u0000cardiovascular procedures, cardiovascular medications, hypertension,\u0000diabetes, heart failure, ischemic heart disease, and diabetic\u0000medications. AF patients on liraglutide were found to have a\u0000significantly lower risk of all-cause mortality (HR 0.67, 95% CI 0.631\u0000– 0.711, p < 0.001). There was a tendency toward lower risk\u0000of stroke, acute heart failure, and acute coronary syndrome but was not\u0000statistically significant. Conclusion: Liraglutide is associated with\u0000lower risk of all-cause mortality in AF patients. These findings are\u0000limited due to the retrospective nature of the study. Further\u0000examination is needed of liraglutide effect on mortality in AF patients.

The preoperative and\u0000intraoperative risk factors are still not well defined. The objective of\u0000the study was to examine preoperative and intraoperative risk factors\u0000for AF following cardiac surgery. Methods: A retrospective analysis of a\u0000database of cardiac surgeries was performed during 2017-2019 at Poriya\u0000Medical Center. Preoperative factors and intraoperative were recorded.\u0000Results: 208 patients were included in this analysis. Overall AF\u0000following cardiac surgery was detected in 50 (24%) patients. Of 175\u0000patients who did not have history of AF prior to surgery, 27 (15.5%)\u0000had post-operative AF. In the 33 patients with previous AF, AF following\u0000surgery was detected in 23 (70%). Patients with AF following surgery\u0000who were older (66.2±8.0 vs. 60.7± 11.4 years, p=0.002), were treated\u0000more with anti-arrhythmic drugs (18.9% vs 4.5, p<0.001), and\u0000had higher rates of pre-operative AF (46% vs 6.3%, p=0.0001), prior\u0000cerebral vascular accidents (14% vs 4.4%, p=0.019), and prior valve\u0000replacement (10% vs 1.9%, p=0.009) compared to patients without AF\u0000following surgery. In multivariate Cox regression analysis, age (HR\u00001.04, CI 1.01-1.07, P=0.006) and history of preoperative AF (HR 6.01, CI\u00003.42-10.57, P<0.001) were predictors of AF following cardiac\u0000surgery. The probability of being free of postsurgical AF was 80% among\u0000patients without history of AF compared to 30% in patients with\u0000previous AF history (p<0.001). Conclusion: Preoperative AF and\u0000age were predictors of AF following cardiac surgery
