One method is by recording the measured weight for each livestock for daily weight comparison. The farmer needs to manually lift each of the livestock onto the weighing scale, using rope, producing risk of injury to both farmer and livestock. The main purpose of this project is to enhance the existing weight process by developing a weighing scale which is durable, easy to maintain as well as equipped with online database to store the weight of the livestock for monitoring purposes. Hardware consisting of load cell, HX711 and Raspberry Pi while the software will be written using Python programming language and LAMP to create a web server for storing acquired data. The system’s prototype takes accurate and stable reading in experiments simulating a livestock walking onto the weighing platform with an error rate of 0.1kg. Finally, the implementation of this system shall increase farmers productivity as well as redusing risk for injury.","PeriodicalId":369098,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 9th Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115995520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the key infrastructures is the roadside unit (RSU) which can vastly improve the efficiency and coverage of data dissemination and information exchange in the vehicular network when deployed judiciously. RSU can also provide real-time traffic control, safety and road services to drivers. In this paper, we study how to strategically deploy RSUs in candidate junctions in a city layout by employing findings from taxi GPS traces such as the total daily number of vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) contacts, transmissions, transmitted file size, and the average space speed. A Consolidated Weighted Mean Approach, ConsWMA, based from four practical methods for deploying RSUs, is proposed to maximize the amount of V2I contacts. We observe that these mobility traces’ findings, when set as deployment criteria, can reduce the needed number of RSUs to be deployed and the missing V2I contacts. Simulation results show that when nine out of the 40 possible RSU locations are allocated in the first two rings of Beijing City, a 95% daily average V2I contacts is attained, thereby making information dissemination feasible. ConsWMA also provides at least 11% more V2I contacts when compared to two other deployment methods.","PeriodicalId":369098,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 9th Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116486189","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The potentiostat senses redox reaction with an internal Differential Pulse Voltammetry (DPV) electroanalytical technique provided by an ARM Cortex-M microcontroller. The moving average calculation is embedded in the applied microcontroller. Two moving average techniques are compared: Simple Moving Average, (SMA) and Adjacent Averaging, (AA). The objective is to reduce noise during redox reaction current sensing when the potentiostat hardware implementation is constructed using a single microcontroller with open shelf electronics. DPV current properties of 3-electrode cell redox reaction in 10mM of Ferricyanide solution was measured by the designed potentiostat and subjected to moving average to smoothen the data. It is found that even though the real-time moving average techniques are able to reduce noise by 99%, both approaches reduce peak current vs time measured at the output of the potentiostat. The findings provide important information for interpreting sensor behavior accurately based on in-situ measured values.","PeriodicalId":369098,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 9th Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121937622","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, the use of collaborative work among several researchers becomes more and more relevant. The Computer Assisted Qualitative Data Analysis Software (CAQDAS) solutions, namely the webQDA® software, have made this online collaboration easier. The problem of research is the perception of the practice of the collaborative process in content analysis with the help of CAQDAS (webQDA®) software. Three self-reflections were analysed and treated (three Narratives) by three master’s students of pedagogical supervision, who categorized 2301 observation narratives of classes in higher education. The content analysis was handled using webQDA® software. From the emerging categories, it was concluded that: a) time is a factor to be taken into account in the collaborative work, as it reduced the categorization time and b) it is possible to consolidate learning in the qualitative research. This work, despite having a great limitation - a very small sample - serves as a future pedagogical suggestion in order to improve Pedagogical Supervision classes, making them more fruitful, using the collaborative work of webQDA® software in order to increase, in a timely manner, the skills and competences of qualitative researchers in the students.","PeriodicalId":369098,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 9th Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE)","volume":"28 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116587690","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper describes the protocol for controlling the fan speed in real time using EEG. Eye blinks detected from EEG signal were used to represent the intention to control the fan speed. The acquisition of the EEG signal in real time was carried out using two frames and buffer. The fan speed was controlled by detecting the eye blink event in the EEG signal and transferring the control signal to the microcontroller. The algorithm has managed to control the fan speed according to the numbers of eye blink detected.","PeriodicalId":369098,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 9th Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116167447","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, a smart parking system with automated car detection is required so that the car drivers would have minimum effort and time to access the available parking location. This paper presents an implementation of image processing based smart parking system using Haar-Cascade method. The aim of this project is to develop a smart parking system on a single-board computer and a camera installed at a parking area. The image processing for car detection is performed on Raspberry Pi interfaced with the Firebase cloud platform through an API. The system posts the data to the Firebase channel, enabling an Internet of Things (IoT) based parking system. A mobile application is developed for visualization and hence the data is accessible through the car driver’s phone. The system was tested at a simple parking lot with a line of car slots. The experimental results with different condition of parking areas and different camera view angles are discussed in the paper.","PeriodicalId":369098,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 9th Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE)","volume":"6 10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133780735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This experimental research was designed to know the potential of machine learning methods in modeling CO2 gas dispersion. Dispersion data of gases can be collected with sensing devices so that ML-based techniques can be applied to simulate the diffusion. In this study, three methods were explored and compared; linear interpolation, Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) and Deep Multi-Layer Perceptron (DLP). A set of experiments was conducted to collect dispersion data of CO2 gas. The experiments were executed in a wide room with two doors and eight windows that are enough to refresh the room air. Three sets of data were collected for learning and one set for testing. The Root Mean Square Deviation (RMSD) was applied to compare the three methods. The DLP method showed the lowest RMSD comparing with real test data, the linear interpolation the next and the MLP the last.CCS Concepts•Computing methodologies ~Machine learning•Applied computing~Environmental sciences","PeriodicalId":369098,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 9th Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE)","volume":"120 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121472208","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The information is needed by the National Book Council of Malaysia (NBCM) to assess reading frequencies of young people, correlated using speed-reading tests. Hence, a mobile app for speed-reading test in Bahasa Malaysia called Bacalaju has been developed. Applying Progressive Web Application (PWA) that uses front-end website technology, an Android app is generated by compiling the code with Android SDK (Software Development Kit). After the user took their speed-reading test, the result will be transferred via Asynchronous JavaScript And XML (AJAX) POST request and stored in a database on the cloud. The mobile app is seen to benefit young readers in Malaysia because it enables users to evaluate their reading skills and encourage them to improve the skills, i.e. speed-reading level and comprehension. At the same time, a website was developed to display the overall result, preliminary result indicated that 37.8% of 98 users involved in this study has both good speed-reading level based on the Taylor Grade Equivalent units and able to score more than 50% in their comprehension test.","PeriodicalId":369098,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 9th Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121269720","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
