It presents validation results for the modeling, control, monitoring, and protection strategies. The chapter discusses four different implementations on a real‐live microgrid: energy management system (EMS) economic dispatch; voltage and reactive power control; microgrid islanding; and real‐time (RT) system using the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61850 communication protocol. It demonstrates the implementation of the design guidelines of the microgrid systems on the campus microgrid's Open Access to Sustainable Intermittent Sources (OASIS) subsystem. The IEC 61850 standard allows for communication between devices, where a peer‐to‐peer model for generic substation event (GSEs) services is used for fast and reliable communication between intelligent electronic devices (IEDs). One of the messages associated with the GSE services is generic object oriented substation event (GOOSE), which allows for the broadcast of multicast messages across a Local Area Network (LAN).","PeriodicalId":368865,"journal":{"name":"Microgrid Planning and Design","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130297820","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
