Neonatal tetanus cases in Indonesia increased from 10 cases in 2018 to 17 cases in 2019, While in Banten Province in 2019, there were 12 cases of neonatal tetanus with 8 deaths, including in Cilegon City. According to research, one of the preventions of neonatal tetanus is umbilical cord care. This study aimed to analyze the effect of umbilical cord care by using the breast milk topical method and dry gauze when removing the umbilical cord. This research is a quantitative study with a quasi-experiment research design with a control design post only, the sample is 30 respondents with a purposive sampling technique, and the research instrument is in the form of an observation sheet. The data were analyzed with an independent T-test. The results of a bivariate analysis can be concluded that there is a significant effect between differences in the acceleration of umbilical cord release. In this study, there was a significant difference between umbilical cord care using the topical method of breast milk and dry gauze on the timing of umbilical cord detachment. This can be input and evaluation for PMB in Cilegon City, regarding the importance of effective newborn umbilical cord care and does not cause infection.","PeriodicalId":368213,"journal":{"name":"Nursing and Health Sciences Journal (NHSJ)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129582063","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Stress that occurs in the workplace results from emotional and physical reactions due to the failure of individuals to adapt to a work environment where there is a mismatch between expectations and reality. This study aimed to identify the psychological distress among female tobacco workers. The research design used in this research is descriptive research. The of respondents required in this study is 91 respondents. Sampling was done by using a random sampling method. The data collection tool used in this study was the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) questionnaire. The results showed that most of the respondents never experienced stress. Some respondents often experience stress with symptoms of overreaction to a situation, and some respondents experience stress all the time with symptoms of not feeling positive and experiencing shaking or tremors in their hands. Respondents who often experience anxiety feel symptoms of panic and worthlessness, and respondents who experience severe anxiety at any time feel symptoms of changes in heart rate even though they do not do physical activity (feel their heart rate increases). Lack of training and low education cause job stress for workers. Lack of placement scenarios not by the workers' abilities will make them less confident and experience difficulties dealing with situations that can cause anxiety. Women working in tobacco factories must handle the stress for their mental and physical health.","PeriodicalId":368213,"journal":{"name":"Nursing and Health Sciences Journal (NHSJ)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132353904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study was conducted to determine the anxiety levels of nurses, their exposure to violence, and the factors affecting the anxiety and witnessed violence of nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic in Turkey. The descriptive study data were collected in the period between October 2020 and March 2021 via the online questionnaire published on the Turkish Nurses Association’s website. The study sample consisted of 3,230 nurses. In this study, it was found that the majority of participants in the study were women (83,5%), working 24-hour shifts (49.3%) at hospitals run by the Ministry of Health (68.7%), caring for COVID-19 patients (82.1%). Nurses experienced very high levels of anxiety and were exposed to violence from patients, family members, or other healthcare professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, this study shows that nurses experienced high anxiety levels and increased exposure to violence in association with the high number of patients to provide care for, long working hours, being forced to work despite COVID-19 symptoms, working with COVID-19 patients, the fear of infecting family members, having difficulties in caring for family members, financial losses, and the unavailability of changing rooms. In line with the results of this study, the responsibility range of managers and decision-makers is wide in protecting the physical and mental integrity of nurses, anticipating, and addressing their needs and resolving their problems, and managing the nurse manpower and the supply of PPE in accordance with standards so that nurses can provide qualified and safe nursing practices. The findings of this study will help to ensure that nursing care is safe, consistent, and competent, as well as guide future planning.","PeriodicalId":368213,"journal":{"name":"Nursing and Health Sciences Journal (NHSJ)","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132149700","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The participants were 122 nurses who worked in general hospital wards and 56 patients hospitalized at a 299-bed general hospital in Seoul. We selected 38 items from the high-touch surfaces identified by patients in previous studies and guidelines and classified them into 4 categories. For each item, the contact frequency was investigated with a self-report questionnaire on a graphic rating scale that contained 11 points. Data were collected from April 1, 2020, to April 30, 2020. The average recognition score of the frequency of high-touch surfaces was significantly higher in nurses than in patients. (5.96 ± 1.47 vs. 2.35 ± 1.98, p<0.001). The top seven high-touch surfaces included intravenous poles, bedrails, bed height remote controls, bedside tables, restroom door handles, bedside personal locks, and restroom seats, and the ranking of these surfaces was different between nurses and patients. While nurses and patients showed a consensus when identifying major high-touch surfaces, there was a big difference in their perception of these areas’ touch frequency. This study will help to understand and establish categories and criteria for high-touch surfaces in the future.","PeriodicalId":368213,"journal":{"name":"Nursing and Health Sciences Journal (NHSJ)","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123050286","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this research was to explore the lifestyle and problems of people living with HIV AIDS (PLWHA). This research uses a phenomenological study. The ethical test was obtained from STIKes William Booth. There are 5 informants selected based on the purposive sampling technique. The data was taken by means of an open-question questionnaire. Each respondent was given questions using the interview method and then recorded. There were 2 main topics that were asked, the first topic is the initial condition of being diagnosed with HIV and the secondary topic is the lifestyle and current problems. The results of the interviews found that the sample had suffered from HIV 5-8 years ago due to risky behavior. Diagnosed because he felt the symptoms of a disease that did not cure. Psychosocial complaints stem from internal feelings such as feelings of guilt, having no future, and fear of death. In addition, the problem of external stigma greatly threatens social relations activities with other people. Continuous social support is a basic need. Spending time alone and working became daily activities. HIV community groups are difficult to reach because of distance. Activities do not vary due to physical constraints such as the effects of medication and co-morbidities. Some have tried to exercise but are less successful. Mechanisms through which the work environment influences nursing care quality are not well documented. Unfinished nursing care, electronic health records, and job satisfaction may be involved. Clear mechanistic pathways that explain how these variables might interact to influence care quality are lacking. This study examined how satisfaction with the electronic health record, unfinished care, the work environment, and job satisfaction collectively affect nursing care quality. A secondary analysis of cross-sectional data was performed using survey data collected from inpatient hospital staff nurses in a single U.S. state. Survey responses (n=916) were analyzed using bivariate correlations and path analysis. Moderate bivariate correlations were documented among all study variables. However, smaller effects were identified in the full path analysis model. The nurse work environment had direct and indirect effects (through unfinished nursing care and job satisfaction) on nursing care quality. Satisfaction with the electronic health records affected nursing care quality indirectly through an inverse relationship with unfinished nursing care. More research is needed to better understand the mechanisms through which the electronic health record influences the nurse work environment and nursing care quality are needed.","PeriodicalId":368213,"journal":{"name":"Nursing and Health Sciences Journal (NHSJ)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125153448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
