S-Shape resonator is proven more technical and proficient considering its geometrical characteristics. The design can be used for communication application in Long Term Evolution bands. Results are obtained by ANSYS HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator); a general purpose 3D interface for the design, analysis, and simulation of electromagnetic components.","PeriodicalId":366020,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Middle East Conference on Antennas and Propagation (MECAP)","volume":"41 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120924281","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two such antennas, one transmitting and one receiving, are connected to an ultra-wideband GPR to record the responses of exact models of certain types of landmines. Later, a periodic structure converter is used to transform the antennas' linear polarization into circular polarization. The responses obtained from the same landmine models upon making the linear to circular polarization transformation show more information, and as a result are better fit for employment with signal processing algorithms aiming at detecting and classifying buried landmines. The results for the antenna design, polarization conversion, and GPR responses with both linear and circular polarization are reported.","PeriodicalId":366020,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Middle East Conference on Antennas and Propagation (MECAP)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117136615","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The characterization consists of assessing the S-parameter and the dosimetry consists of getting the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) values for two TEM cells with 20 cm and 40 cm length. Two Petri dishes put inside the TEM cells and filled with a biological solution are used as a biological load. The transmission and reflection coefficients prove that the bandwidth for both TEM cells is more than 1 GHz. The average SAR values, normalized per input power, for the 20 cm and 40 cm TEM cells are 1 ± 0.5 W/kg/W and 0.29 ± 0.17 W/kg/W, respectively. These values are recorded for 2 mL of biological solution contained in the Petri dish.","PeriodicalId":366020,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Middle East Conference on Antennas and Propagation (MECAP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129567480","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The antenna is designed for operation at 60 GHz. It consists of two Ig/2 dipole radiators fed by coplanar strips waveguide. Two slightly shorter dipoles are placed in proximity to the main radiators. They act as parasitic dipole arms which increase the bandwidth of the antenna. Two versions of the same antenna topology are presented in this paper in which one uses a high resistivity silicon substrate while the other uses a low resistivity one. The proposed antenna was optimized using HFSS and the final design was simulated using both HFSS and CST for verifying the obtained results. Both simulators are in good agreement. They show that the antenna has very good radiation characteristics where its directivity is around 7.5 dBi. The addition of the parasitic arms increased the bandwidth of the antenna from 1.3 GHz (3.62 GHz) to 4.3 GHz (7.44 GHz) when designed on high (low) resistivity silicon substrate.","PeriodicalId":366020,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Middle East Conference on Antennas and Propagation (MECAP)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121292779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
