An approach to comprehending the dilemmas of the international grain supply chain and trade, and national logistics policy in an era of multinational corporations, draws upon the literature on global value chain analysis. This analysis identifies both the grain industry's global and local dimensions. An important literature on the 'politics’ of the supply chain is also called into play to discuss who controls what aspects. This task of interpreting the various steps in Canada's grain logistics chain recognizes the key economic actors producers, grain companies, railway companies, port terminal operators and export buyers and political struggles between them as they each seek to maximize their self-interest. In order to select supplier, there are many criteria involved. Also supplier with greatest average performance does not confirm to be the most suitable one because of uncertainties. Therefore the objectives of this research are to develop decision matrix for selecting supplier based on mean-variance-skewness and identify influential criteria of supplier selection problem for Thai electronics industry. In this research, the set of criteria comprises of 6 main criteria with total of 13 sub-criteria. The data was collected via in-depth interview and questionnaire. The first three criteria which have highest important weight are lead time, follows by price, and continuous improvement ability with important weight equal to 0.0910, 0.0869 and 0.0806, respectively. To analyze skewness effect, it is found that skewness has effect on performance more than average and SD. Skewness can better distinguish between first and less priority supplier than considering only mean and SD. This result indicates that skewness really plays important role in supplier performance and should not be ignored when evaluating suppliers. Therefore, this research develops decision matrix for supplier selection including skewness, namely, Success Mode Skewness Analysis (SMSA). The validation of developed decision matrix shows that including skewness into consideration is more valid than considering only mean and SD. The research involved carrying out in-depth interviews with ten experts to shed light on factors of GLM practices. The authors used a questionnaire to survey the data amongst 89 SME exporters through purposive sampling with valid 52 responses. The managerial issues related to export intensity, GLM practices, with regards to whether firms followed ISO 14001 and whether they had an employee(s) responsible for environmental management. The findings suggest that greater GLM practices being applied lead to higher export intensity in SME. The results indicate that most SMEs apply GLM practices in all dimensions to gain the benefits from the export market. The paper employs Pareto analysis and the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method on data collected from logistics professionals involved in the software industry in Sri Lanka using two questionnaires. As the prominent factors, transportation, accidents, packaging, a method of storage, the cleaning process and sorting process was identified and the first four prominent factors have a higher influence on both measures of efficiency and effectiveness. They can also identify the external factors which can emerge inefficiencies due to outsourced dealers. Lack of previous literature on the subject matter and the difficulty to access the filed data were the main limitations of this study. The identified factors will help to identify the correct root causes for the inefficiencies of the current reverse logistics practices and concentrating on these factors will give an opportunity for the soft drink industry players to successfully implement a sustainable green supply chain which reduces waste at each stage of its forwards and reverse logistics process. The main findings of the study are as follows. An increase in the market size of both trading partners is associated with a higher level of horizontal intra-industry trade. Dissimilar economic sizes and per capita incomes have a negative effect on trade in horizontally differentiated products. Geographical distance and trade imbalance serve as obstacles to horizontal intra-industry trade. These findings have policy implications for reconsidering the orientation of promoting trade. The major changes are in their market through deregulation and liberalization resulting in adding more carriers, especially low-cost carriers (LCCs) from 2006. The authors categorize three types of LCCs in Korea: (1) independent LCCs, (2) LCCs subsidized by existing airlines as airlines-within-airlines (AwAs), and (3) LCCs supported by conglomerates and local governments. Independent LCCs have suffered financially during the research period from 2009 to 2013, especially from the impaired capital, even though these LCCs are growing rapidly and expanding their markets in domestic and international routes.
