Various new phenomena have been discovered in high-quality single crystalline materials, which was otherwise hidden in their polycrystalline form. In this article, we review recent research activities of single crystal growth groups in Korea. Crystallography was developed rapidly with the discovery of X-ray. Recently, the era of physics is enriching with the emergence of new material groups such as graphene, topological insulators, and TMD materials. In a way, it is very interesting to see that the providence of the universe and the philosophy of life are reflected in the small crystal structure. However, unfortunately, little is known about when and how crystal growth began. How did our ancestors in the beginning grow and study crystal? Since its first publication through Elsevier in 2001, CAP has grown as an SCI journal with worldwide authors and usage for 20 years. However, CAP is challenged to grow as a leading SCI journal in the field by the comparative and rapidly changing circumstances. Thus, I would like to suggest several strategies to overcome the challenges.
