Sargassum duplicatum contains steroid, alkaloid, phenol, flavonoid, saponin, and tannin compounds that can be immunomodulatory. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of methane extract of brown algae Sargassum duplicatum on the differentiation of leukocyte mice (Mus musculus) infected with Plasmodium berghei. Mice weighing 20-30 grams in Plasmodium berghei infection as much as 0.1 ml per head and left to the percentage of parasitemia reaches 1-5%. Then the mice (Mus musculus) were given brown algae methanol extract (Sargassum duplicatum) at doses 10, 100, and 200 mg / g BW for 4 consecutive days. From day 0 to 6 also made a blood smear to calculate the number of leukocytes. Data analysis will be done using ANOVA. The results showed that the administration of brown algae extracts of Sargassum duplicatum influenced in increasing the number of neutrophils, monocytes, and basophils and decreased the number of eosinophils and lymphocytes of mice infected with Plasmodium berghei to near normal range. Dose 200 mg/kg BB methanol extract of brown alga Sargassum duplicatum is a dose that can affect the number of neutrophils, eosinophils, lymphocytes, and monocytes of mice infected with Plasmodium berghei most closely to normal range.","PeriodicalId":365569,"journal":{"name":"NSMRJ: Nusantara Scientific Medical Research Journal","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116597027","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various attempts have been made to prevent dengue fever, one of which is chemical-based insecticides, but the use of chemicals can cause side effects ranging from mild to severe. The purpose of this study was to increase the use of natural ingredients as an alternative to mosquito repellents to minimize side effects and determine the effectiveness of the spray repelency against Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. This research method used an experimental approach using 20 mosquitoes, which were divided into five groups, namely formulation I (10% lemonggrass oil and 2% pathouli oil), formulation II (10% lemonggrass oil and 4% pathouli oil), formulation III (10% lemonggrass oil and 6% pathouli oil), control (-) ( propylene glycol and ethanol 96%) and control (+) (soffel spray) were each given the same treatment. The mist was sprayed on the arm, put in the test cage, and counted the number of mosquitoes perched on the arm for 5 minutes. The percentage of mosquito repellent power in fomulation I am 69%, formulation II is 76%, formulation III is 92%. The data were analyzed by using one-way ANOVA using the LSD (least significant difference) test; there were substantial differences between the treatment group and the level of effevtiveness of the repulsion againts the Aedes aegypti mosquito.","PeriodicalId":365569,"journal":{"name":"NSMRJ: Nusantara Scientific Medical Research Journal","volume":"337 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114370791","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Generally, there are two types of insecticides, namely natural and synthetic insecticides. Natural insecticides are scarce due to their inability to eradicate pests such as black ants. Meanwhile, the use of synthetic insecticides is very practical and fast but can cause pollution that is harmful to humans, animals and other living things. Thus, natural insecticides are needed that can eradicate black ants effectively and efficiently and do not pollute the environment or poison other organisms. The research method used is combination of experimental methods, observation, and literature studies. In determining the best insecticide variation for mortality, a black ant mortality rate was measured using timer for 50 black ants. After the data was obtained, it was analyzed descriptively to determine the value of the mortality rate for each experimental sample. Based on the data obtained, the best variation of natural insecticides was the control variation of fern leaf extract with 3.646 seconds per ant. This is because fern leaf extract in insecticides contains tannin compounds which have several benefits as active pesticide ingredients. Thus, fern insecticides are effective in exterminating black ants.","PeriodicalId":365569,"journal":{"name":"NSMRJ: Nusantara Scientific Medical Research Journal","volume":"136 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115164572","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to determine the effect of cinnamon bark methanol extract (Cinnamomum burmani) on the quality of diabetes mellitus mice spermatozoa. This study used a complete randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 repeats. 22 mice were divided into 4 groups. Mice have injected with streptozotocin dose of 0.1 mL and observed blood sugar levels were, if sugar levels increased, they are given cinnamon bark methanol extract at a dose of 250 mg/kg BB and 500 mg/kg BB, and blood sugar levels are measured. After that, the mice are dissected for observation of spermatozoa's morphology, viability, and motility after administration of the extract. The results showed that cinnamon bark methanol extract at a dose of 250 mg/kg BB and 500 mg/kg BB can reduce the number of abnormal spermatozoa and increase the viability and motility of diabetes mellitus mice spermatozoa. This indicates that cinnamon bark extract as an antioxidant has a positive effect in maintaining structure and development, as well as the function of spermatogenesis cells so that in the presence of these active substances, the number of seed cells that experience developmental failure, degeneration, death due to free radicals can be suppressed or reduced.","PeriodicalId":365569,"journal":{"name":"NSMRJ: Nusantara Scientific Medical Research Journal","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123794000","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless, packaging  milk released in the market contains low calcium and unsatisfies the nutritional needs of adult calcium, namely 1000 mg/day. Therefore, it is necessary to add waste of calcium-rich egg shells so the nutritional needs of calcium can be fulfilled and reduces the egg shell waste  at  the  same  time. The research method used is combination of experimental methods, interviews, and literature study. The data is analyzed by using descriptive statistics and non-parametric statistical tests to draw conclusions. Based on the data obtained, the best variation is the milk control with a total value of 580 points, 33 points different from 2:1 variation. The giving of egg shell waste reduces the milk aroma which is preferable for people who dislike its aroma. Through non-parametric statistical tests, it was investigated that there was no significant difference in adding egg shell flour to make fortified milk except for egg shell control. Therefore, egg shell flour can be used as additional material to enrich the calcium, to reduce the milk aroma and the amount of organic waste in Indonesia.","PeriodicalId":365569,"journal":{"name":"NSMRJ: Nusantara Scientific Medical Research Journal","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121776004","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
