The output power exceeds 500 Watts; the efficiency is higher than 60%; and power gain is greater than 11dB across 400 MHz to 450 MHz. The die layout, internal impedance matching technique and external impedance matching of the test fixture design is also described. The thermal resistance is 0.25C/W. The junction temperature remains below 150 C at the heat sink temperature of 70 C. This transistor uses state-of-the-art silicon BJT technology in a common emitter configuration and class C operation. This combination of high power, long-pulse, and high efficiency makes these devices ideally suited for transmitter designs in UHF radar systems.","PeriodicalId":363454,"journal":{"name":"2007 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117135424","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This compact antenna consists of a square patch with shorting walls and cross-shaped probe feeding to increase the bandwidth of the conventional patch antenna to 50% and also minimizes the height of the antenna to less than 0.1 lambdaL. Additional dielectric resonator loading is used to further increase the impedance bandwidth up to 70%, from 2.44 to 5.12 GHz. The height is maintained at 0.081 lambdaL and the square patch size is 0.244 lambdaL where lambdaL referred to the lowest operating frequency.","PeriodicalId":363454,"journal":{"name":"2007 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference","volume":"121 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121044558","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Where we compared results for the case of the absorption properties of samples containing 0 wt%, 1 wt%, 3 wt%, 5 wt%, and 7 wt% of Al(OH)3. The absorption property curve just has the tendency to improve the characteristics at 5 wt% of Al(OH)3 at Sendust, and at 3 wt% of Al(OH)3 at Carbon. As a result, the optimized composition ratio of Al(OH)3 is 5 wt% at Sendust and 3 wt% at Carbon. Al(OH)3 is an important material to increase EM wave absorption in Sendust or Carbon EM wave absorbers.","PeriodicalId":363454,"journal":{"name":"2007 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference","volume":"121 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124789038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been shown that resonant frequencies of the degenerate modes can be varied independently by adjusting one slot length at a time. Geometrical size as well as radiation loss has been reduced further by using inductively loaded cross-slotted patch resonator. A bandpass filter operating at 2.98GHz with a fractional bandwidth of 4.69% is designed after miniaturization. A size reduction of approximately 30% is observed when compared with miniaturized triangular patch resonators, for the same center frequency.","PeriodicalId":363454,"journal":{"name":"2007 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference","volume":"22 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124876809","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An array of SRs topology which is etched on the center line has stopband characteristics. And this microstrip bandstop filter can be implemented with very small size because of the sub-wavelength effect of SRs. The 3-cell SR filter is fabricated and verified by measurements. We have obtained low insertion loss in the passband and high rejection level in the stopband with steep cutoff. This novel structure is easy to fabricate and is a promising structure that is compatible with MMIC or PCB process.","PeriodicalId":363454,"journal":{"name":"2007 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125129916","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The communication range between the reader and the tag is one of the most important points in the application of RFID to supply chain management. We present results of experiments conducted on our passive RFID prototype system that we designed with the aim of increasing the communication range. It uses an intermittent transmission method to reduce the power consumption of the tag IC. Our results show that the power consumption was reduced to about three-quarters by using intermittent transmission with a duty ratio of 40%. Our experimental results indicate that optimization of the transmitting signal is effective for saving power consumption at tag IC and increasing the communication range.","PeriodicalId":363454,"journal":{"name":"2007 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125891273","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An experimental study and a physical model describing substrate noise suppression by patterned ground shield (PGS) of inductors are presented in this paper. Different grounding methods of PGS are used to compare the different effects on substrate noise suppression. To make the design immune to substrate noise, the parasitic inductance and resistance of the on-chip ground connection of PGS have to be kept as low as possible.","PeriodicalId":363454,"journal":{"name":"2007 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126607488","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This filter is constructed of three resonators which are based on the stepped impedance resonators and hairpin resonators. The A1203 ceramic with a thickness of 0.6 mm and a relative dielectric constant of 9.4 was adopted as substrate. It is easy to be integrated with other RF circuits by SOP (System on Package) process. The three-order dual-band bandpass filter is optimally designed and its properties are confirmed by experiment. By the high dielectric constant substrate and modified structure, the optimized device exhibits excellent dual- band filtering performances and small size. The size of the proposed filter can be reduced about 32.5% in comparing to the typical hairpin filters.","PeriodicalId":363454,"journal":{"name":"2007 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126638672","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many trees were fallen by a typhoon hit on September 8, 2004 at a test site in Japan. Reforestation has started for the deforestation sites and several kinds of deforestation stages are appeared there. We classified the stands into four groups. 1) Only small stumps and branches are left. 2) Tree trunks have been carried out, but branches and stumps have been left. 3) The fallen trees have been left. 4) No trees were fallen by the typhoon (normal forest). Coherence values of HH-HH and VV-VV become ~0.39 for group 1 and ~0.30 for group 4, and show a significant difference. But the coherence values of group 2, and group 3 are ~0.3 and show almost same value as group 1. The coherence value of HH-VV and VV-HH are 0.1 lower than the one of the HH-HH and W-VV. The coherence values, which include cross polarization, such as HV-HV and HV-VV, show no difference for all groups and the value is 0.2 to 0.3. While coherence values show the difference between group 1 and group 4, sigma0 HV shows wider dynamic range and is preferable to distinguish the deforested stands from forest stands.","PeriodicalId":363454,"journal":{"name":"2007 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126784007","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
