{"title":"The Role of Internal Labour Migration in the History of the Daqing Oil Field (1949–1978)","authors":"Svetlana B. Makeeva","doi":"10.37482/2687-1505-v282","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.37482/2687-1505-v282","url":null,"abstract":"This paper determines the role of the Chinese state policy in using internal labour migration to ensure accelerated socialist construction of such large industrial facilities as the Daqing Oil Field. The history of the People’s Republic of China from 1949 to 1978 is rich in examples of labour mobilization of military and technical workers as well as young people for the construction and organization of industrial enterprises in adverse climatic conditions. After the discovery of the Daqing Oil Field in the north-eastern province of Heilongjiang in 1959, more than 40,000 military men, engineers and oil workers were relocated to this facility. Chinese workers from the eastern and western provinces took an active part in organizing the process of exploration, drilling, oil extraction and transportation, as well as launching water supply and building storage facilities. Labour migrants were quick to establish new modern settlements in the oil field area under extremely harsh northern conditions. Daqing Oil Field workers steadfastly endured all the hardships, their main slogan being as follows: “Work hard, overcome difficulties, do your best to fight”. The selfless work of internal migrants was highly appreciated by the Chinese government and the Chinese society as a whole. Over 5,000 factories and enterprises throughout China manufactured mechanical and electrical products as well as equipment for the Daqing Oil Field; 200 research and development departments provided technical support to its workers. In the 1960s, an economic campaign “Learn Everything from Daqing” was launched, aimed to share the experience of building this oil field with other regions of China. Digitalization of religious consciousness is a process of modernization of the religious life of humankind, characterized by the introduction of digital technologies into it and the transition of the religious sphere into a network environment. Digitalization of religious consciousness is one of the factors of globalization. The author dwells on the spread of digital technologies to the religious sphere, indicating both positive and negative sides of this phenomenon. By influencing the subjective human world and making adjustments to it, digitalization brings fundamental changes to the consciousness of humankind, which is especially noticeable in culture and religion. The article provides a short overview of literature on the topic under study by both Russian and foreign authors. The results of the data obtained over the past decades are briefly described and the relevance of the studied issues is explained. In addition, the article touches on the topic of religious security in the light of the development and interpretation of religious teachings in the virtual space, where the differences between the profane and the sacred are weakened. Three levels of the problem of the processes of digitalization of religious consciousness are deduced: competitive, substituting and transformational. The competitive level represents the clash between traditional and non-traditional religious teachings in a network environment. The substituting level shows how a lot of practices of traditional religions change their form and, sometimes, content, when moving into the digital space. The transformational level exposes radical changes in key religious postulates, which forms a fundamentally new type of religiosity in cyber religion. Further, it is demonstrated how, with the introduction of digital technologies based on a heterarchical model of functioning, the perception of religion as a hierarchical institution is transformed. As a result of the action of the factors considered, the key problem of the topic under study is, and in the near future will remain, religious security. This issue is described in accordance with the highlighted levels of the problem of digitalization of religious consciousness. {"title":"Characteristics of the Components of the Lexico-Semantic Field of Landscape Architecture, Taking into Account Their Place in the Terminological System (Based on the English Language)","authors":"Anastasiya S. Lexical systems are studied within the framework of this approach by constructing fields. This has a beneficial effect on the subsequent analysis, systematization and description of vocabulary. The purpose of this article was to characterize units of the lexico-semantic field of landscape architecture in terms of their place in the terminological system. The research material included texts belonging to the modern Englishlanguage professional discourse of landscape architecture. The following tasks were set: to collect the linguistic material, categorize the linguistic units into field sets, establish whether the lexical units belong to the terminological system of landscape architecture and determine their place in it, as well as to describe the results obtained. In order to complete the tasks, the following methods were used: descriptive method, field structuring, analysis of dictionary definitions, contextual analysis, and quantitative calculation method. Field components were analysed taking into account the specific features of its organization and the semantic relations between its components. The scientific novelty and significance of this paper lie in the lack of studies exploring the vocabulary of such a dynamically developing sphere as landscape architecture through the use of the field structuring method and the terminological approach. The article contributes to the development of terminology science. Its practical significance is due to the fact that its materials can be used in preparation for seminars and lectures on English lexicology and in teaching English for specific purposes. According to the results obtained, most of the units of the landscape architecture field are terms, while quasi-terms and other units are rare. Within the field, terminological families were identified, in which synonymy, hyper-hyponymy, and part–whole relations were observed. Most of the terms are unambiguous. The number of word terms and word combination terms in the field is almost equal. It should be noted that the concept of discourse in modern Russian and foreign linguistics is interpreted in different ways, and the range of scientific approaches applicable to it is rather diverse, including linguocognitive, pragmastylistic, linguoculturological and others. The scientific description of the phenomenon of military discourse is limited to a few works. One of the key characteristics of this phenomenon is that its function is to organize communication between the subjects of professional communication, in the particular case, in the armed forces. The subject of research in this paper is the functioning and implementation of the language structures that contribute to the formation of the desired ideological attitudes and values in the addressee. The choice of texts of the military discourse of contemporary Georgia is determined by their accessibility to a wide range of readers (open access), as well as by the fact that to date there are no works related to the study of Georgian-language military texts within the framework of linguistics. Based on the works of Russian and foreign linguists, the main components that characterize military discourse as a separate category are identified. The ideological constituents of military discourse are determined, reflecting the communicative organization of the worldview of its subjects. In addition, lexical characteristics inherent in military discourse are highlighted. Mirelli","doi":"10.37482/2687-1505-v272","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.37482/2687-1505-v272","url":null,"abstract":"This article examines the socio-epistemological functions of science, the scientific community and the education system as the most important elements of soft power. A socio-philosophical interpretation of the concept of soft power through the prism of social epistemology is provided. Further, the author identifies the fundamental structural and functional features of this phenomenon, originating from the modern specifics of civilizational interaction, based on the agenda of globalization and on the making of the information society. The results of the study revealed methodological difficulties in interpreting the role of science in the manifestations and use of soft power due to the fact that science and the education system inherent in it are traditionally considered as a universal cognitive activity of humankind involving obtaining and disseminating new knowledge and cannot be directly reduced to instruments of political influence. However, the article notes that the scientific communities and the results of their activities are actually used as a soft (smart) power aimed at controlled transformation of global geopolitical actors. It is not only the problems of cognitive capitalism, tragedies of the anticommons and brain drain, but also the strategies of Russian science and education for establishing the country’s cognitive sovereignty that are considered to be new conditions for the functioning of science and education as elements of soft power in the system of digital globalization. The primary purpose of this article is to study the socioepistemological significance of soft power in the transformation of the role of science and education on the one hand, and geopolitical interaction of global players on the other. The research methodology is based on the ideas of historicism, social epistemology and complexity of open social systems, as well as on the theoretical analysis of socio-political and socio-philosophical literature.
