The specific technique is based on the binary weighted checksum which is computed with logical operations. It is shown that the solution proposed not only guarantees the correction of any single error burst but it also lowers the computational complexity reducing the required redundancy and making use of simple procedures and rules out erroneous correction. Finally, the use of the algorithm is illustrated via the thorough presentation of an example of erroneous data transmission.","PeriodicalId":360702,"journal":{"name":"2011 17th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing (DSP)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124988594","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The biggest challenge of the system is to detect occluded people from the captured video where visible information of the occluded people in a camera is reduced. Many researchers proposed to reconstruct the occluded information from other cameras which are installed in the same place with different viewing angles, but, hardware cost and computation cost will be increased. In this paper, a stereo camera system is used with a novel occlusion model to solve the occlusion problem. Result shows that it significantly reduces the hardware cost and computation cost of the system while maintaining a good tracking result under severe occlusions.","PeriodicalId":360702,"journal":{"name":"2011 17th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing (DSP)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128576397","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, we focus on two particular bistatic systems, i.e. the twin SAR and the space-surface SAR, for which we obtain, under some analytical approximations, the Transfer Functions. Finally, to investigate the possibility to perform an efficient processing in the frequency domain for these two systems, we perform a numerical comparison between the point spread functions, obtained using the time domain simulator and the inverse FFT of the Transfer Functions.","PeriodicalId":360702,"journal":{"name":"2011 17th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing (DSP)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124709382","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The error floor behavior is commonly attributed to the sub-optimality of iterative decoding algorithms on graphs with cycles, which become trapped to local minimum solutions. Trapping of the decoder depends on several factors, including the decoding algorithm. A particular received word that is not decoded by a certain algorithm may be decoded successfully by a different algorithm. The proposed Multiple Decoder exploits this diverse behavior, by decoding a particular received word with N different algorithms, composing an LDPC decoder that achieves very low BER in the error floor region of operation, less iterations and higher throughput than the equivalent single decoder system.","PeriodicalId":360702,"journal":{"name":"2011 17th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing (DSP)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122152108","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By approximating the input signal autocorrelation function using the second order Maclaurin series, an analytical solution of the blind TSE using noise free sub-ADC output model and additive white Gaussian noise model is derived. Experimental results show that the proposed blind TSE method has low computational complexity, good estimation accuracy and robustness to additive Gaussian noise for the analog signals with input frequency lower than half of the Nyquist frequency. The experiment results with the real TIADC output data further validate its good performance.","PeriodicalId":360702,"journal":{"name":"2011 17th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing (DSP)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122306077","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we introduce a new representation of 3D faces in which all facial features are aligned over different faces. This representation contains highly discriminative features and is particularly useful for the employment of discriminant analysis methods for 3D face recognition. To the best of our knowledge, because of the lack of such alignment, so far, discriminant analysis methods have not been directly applied to 3D faces. Instead, the common approach is to register a probe face to each of the gallery faces, and then calculate the sum of the distances between their points for recognition. This registration also demands extensive computational effort. We demonstrate that the capability of a discriminant method, such as the LDA, to discriminate between the geometric variations resulted from expression changes and the geometric variations resulted from subject difference is beyond the capability of the state-of-art 3D face recognition methods. We achieved a verification rate of 99.5 percent at a false acceptance rate of 0.1 percent on the FRGC v2 database which is, to the best our knowledge, the best performance reported for this database in the literature.","PeriodicalId":360702,"journal":{"name":"2011 17th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing (DSP)","volume":"315 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115832519","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper describes an innovative sparse feature-based approach for human detection using the multimodal image. Firstly we consider a human as sparse feature which moves with multimodal image sequences. And afterwards the problem of moving human estimation can be formulated as decomposition of a matrix into a sparse human matrix and a low-rank background matrix. Furthermore, both of the components are exactly recovered by solving convex optimization problem. Finally the sparse feature that contains human is reconstructed to generate the human map. Experimental results on the real multimodal image from a novel 2D/3D vision system verify the effectiveness of our proposed method. Meanwhile the results yield the potential application of matrix decomposition for various multimodal data analysis.","PeriodicalId":360702,"journal":{"name":"2011 17th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing (DSP)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131626871","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It operates partially in the training and encoding phases by normalizing the bandwidth covered by each split. The action is completed in the decoding phase by renormalizing the bandwidth spanned by each split of the codebook to that allowed by a nonoverlapping constraint with neighboring split bands. Therefore, the method is referred to as renormalized SPV (RSVQ). The performance of RSVQ is investigated in comparison to standard SVQ for coding line spectral frequency (LSF) vectors that parameterize the spectral envelope of wideband speech and it is found to save four bits, reaching transparent coding at 42 bit/frame.","PeriodicalId":360702,"journal":{"name":"2011 17th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing (DSP)","volume":"111 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131942677","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Especially, the recent implementation of the memristor has led to the interpretation of phenomena not only in electronic devices but also in biological systems. Many research teams work on projects, which use memristor to simulate the behavior of biological synapses. Based on this research approach, we have studied using computer simulations, the dynamic behavior of two coupled, via a memristor, identical nonlinear circuits, which play the role of “neurons”. The proposed memristor is a flux-controlled memristor where the relation between charge and magnetic flux is a smooth continuous cubic function. Very interesting synchronization phenomena such as inverse π-lag synchronization and complete chaotic synchronization were observed.","PeriodicalId":360702,"journal":{"name":"2011 17th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing (DSP)","volume":"16 Suppl 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131663008","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a cognitive radio context, this means that a secondary link can re-exploit the non-used time-slots. In the case where the secondary link is imposed to generate no interference on the primary link, a relevant issue is therefore to know the fraction of time-slots available to the secondary transmitter, depending on the system parameters. On the other hand, if the secondary transmitter is modeled as a selfish and free player choosing its power control policy to maximize its average energy-efficiency, resulting primary and secondary signals are not necessarily orthogonal and studying the corresponding Stackelberg game is relevant to know the outcome of this interactive situation in terms of power control policies.","PeriodicalId":360702,"journal":{"name":"2011 17th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing (DSP)","volume":"125 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131757954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
