We thus consider number of decouplers: the linear zero-forcing equalizer, the linear minimum mean-squared error equalizer (LMMSE), the successive soft/hard interference canceller, and the parallel soft/hard interference canceller. The constrained capacities of these decouplers are analyzed. It is shown that the capacity of the LMMSE is larger than those of the other decouplers although the general belief is that the interference cancellation schemes are better than linear filters. It is also shown that the LMMSE maximizes each sub-channel capacity. We discuss the likelihood value derivation from the decouplers, which can be used for decoding error correction codes. The performance of parallel transmission of turbo-coded symbols is given to support the constrained capacity analysis","PeriodicalId":360395,"journal":{"name":"2005 2nd International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems","volume":"135 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120816975","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Indeed, the UTRAN imposes severe delay bounds on the transport of both real-time and non real-time traffic. In this context, we provide an overview of different QoS-capable transport architecture options, such as DiffServ and MPLS. We also discuss multiplexing schemes that shall reduce overheads and hence achieve an efficient utilization of limited wired resources. Such a radio propagation channel constitutes a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system. In a wireless MIMO system, it is possible to estimate channel parameters in a multipath environment by extending the classical parameter estimation methods to the joint space and time domain. In this paper, we propose a subspace-based approach to jointly estimate the angle-of-arrival (AOA), angle-of-departure (AOD) and delay-of-arrival (DOA) of digitally modulated multipath signals in MIMO communication systems. The novel approach uses a collection of estimates of a space-time manifold vector of the channel which utilizes a Khatri-Rao product to transfer the estimated channel response matrix to the classical model. Simulation results show that the proposed methods can achieve high resolution of channel parameters and resolve more multipath components than the number of array elements","PeriodicalId":360395,"journal":{"name":"2005 2nd International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114586768","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mobile companies can buy a certain capacity of the shared network depending on their budget and number of subscribers that they can handle. In this way, the subscribers of each operator connect to the same radio access network and can be differentiated through roaming based mechanisms. The analysis of voice traffic and video streaming for shared networks has been discussed in the literature. In this paper, an extended work has been done to study the effect of heavy data traffic like WWW and FTP on the shared network and how the radio resources with roaming based mechanism may be allocated to the sharing operators. One particular mechanism based on radio resource management (RRM) with preemptive priority queuing in admission control is discussed in details. The results show the effectiveness of the dynamically prioritization mechanism for allocating radio resources to the requested service. Also, it shows an outstanding performance for RT users compared with non preemptive scheme with little degradation for NRT users","PeriodicalId":360395,"journal":{"name":"2005 2nd International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122113796","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed method estimates the PAPR of output OFDM symbol through the emulation of the lower layer operations. If the estimated PAPR is larger than the required value, we continue permutes binary data according to prepared mapping functions until the requirement is satisfied or reach to preset maximum number of iterations. Simulation results based on the parameters of IEEE 802.11a standard show that the proposed method can effectively lower the distributions of PAPR. We present first a comprehensive analysis of SSL protocol and the cryptographic algorithms used as building blocks in the protocol. We demonstrate next that SSL support embedded also in other applications for some mobile devices does not impact significantly on overall application's performance when communicating with other parties. We wanted to use for our experimental setup, APIs and tools that are either available for the majority of the handheld devices or that can be downloaded and tested freely and without major modifications. This is the especially the case of application developers, who preferably would not use modified versions of cryptographic libraries and special drivers characteristic to academic/commercial testing environments. We also developed a tool named SSLperf (SSL performance) for testing SSL security protocol's performance when transferring either small amounts of data (e.g. credit card number) or of medium dimension (e.g. a document in PDF format), with handheld devices. So, in order to achieve a target BER typical of multimedia applications, it is impossible to assure high performance without requiring the user terminals very close to UWB stations. The only way to solve this limitations is a diversity approach, and, since the employment of multiple-antenna systems does not seem to be expensive, in this contribution multiple-antenna UWB-IR systems are taken into account, by proposing coding schemes and corresponding detectors, (in the general case of partial channel knowledge) in order to improve performance in terms of coverage and BER","PeriodicalId":360395,"journal":{"name":"2005 2nd International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems","volume":"344 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123324111","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
