In the present paper we study L-moments in relation to income inequality measures. Models characterized by functional relationships between L-moments and income inequality measures are studied. We generalize the two parameter generalized inverted exponential distribution using the quadratic rank transmutation map proposed by Shaw et al. (2007) to develop a transmuted generalized inverted exponential distribution. The properties of the transmuted generalized inverted exponential distribution are discussed. We derive the moments and examine the order statistics.
