GHRM is a management approach to improve EP and encourage PEBs. The study assesses the influence of GHRM on EP and employee behaviours and the moderating effect of employee empowerment. Partial least squares (PLS) analysis evaluates the measurement model. The study finds a significant and positive association between GHRM and PEBs. However, there is no direct impact of GHRM on EP. Instead, the study reveals an indirect positive impact of GHRM on EP through PEBs. Employee empowerment moderates the direct impact of GHRM on EP. The findings highlight the importance of PEBs and employee empowerment in the relationship between GHRM and EP in Pakistan’s manufacturing industry. The study suggests that manufacturing firms should adopt GHRM practices, incentivise and recognise PEBs, and empower employees to drive environmental initiatives. It has theoretical and practical implications for researchers and practitioners in the manufacturing industry.","PeriodicalId":35909,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Environmental Assessment Policy and Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47333221","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although some approaches to quantifying the environmental burden generated by a product or service system such as life cycle assessment (LCA) and carbon auditing have been developed, expert judgments are often required to implement them. From an industry’s perspective, small- and medium-sized enterprises need an efficient tool to determine the best solution when considering various attributes simultaneously. Thus, a combination of fuzzy analytical hierarchy process and genetic algorithm has been introduced to solve scheduling problems and support the decision-making process. This study aims to effectuate the green scheduling on optimized machine-task assignments with fuzzy evaluation. The proposed approach is illustrated using a case example from a centralized dishwashing company. Results show that the global warming potential value can be reduced by 1.86% and the cost of operation is slightly increased by only 1.28%. The result of the proposed approach is presented simply in the form of machine-task assignments with optimized environmental impact values and associated costs. Therefore, no further result interpretation by environmental experts is required. This study can be a reference for government policymakers in formulating policies to synthesize operation optimization and business sustainability.","PeriodicalId":35909,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Environmental Assessment Policy and Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43038581","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To slow down the process of urbanisation in these regions, it is essential to promote environmental education among the youth, encouraging them to prioritise rural development and sustainable practices. This study presents a research framework that examines the mapping of environmental education on young preferences for rural development and its impact on reducing urbanisation. Using a knowledge-based approach, the study employs regression and bootstrap analysis on data collected from 227 Indonesian and Malaysian provinces. The results show that ecologically friendly education among executives promotes environmental concerns and managerial practices, mediating the relationship between environmental education and urbanisation. Additionally, understanding these interactions positively moderates the influence of organizational ecological problems. Overall, this study highlights the importance of environmental education in promoting rural development and reducing urbanisation, which is crucial for sustainable development.","PeriodicalId":35909,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Environmental Assessment Policy and Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47795869","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data were used from Indonesian communities and linked socio-economic indicators and environmental information disclosure data at the city level. The objective of this research is to assess the impact of environmental disclosure on public environmental concerns. It is crucial to recognise that corporate initiatives aimed at reducing their environmental footprint yield significant and wide-ranging implications. Here, using three models Pol Lined and Heckman influenced, we analyse the effect of business size on Indonesia’s environmental reporting (IER) disclosures and ratings in 2009–2018. The statistics show a positive relationship between government ownership and IER, with a more prominent link between federal government ownership and IER than local government ownership. This paper argues that to promote the cause of environmental accounting and thus contribute to the goal of capitalism with Indonesian characteristics, Indonesia should improve relevant regulations and standards for information disclosure in environmental accounting, as well as strengthen internal and external supervision of enterprises, creation of a low-carbon, environmentally friendly economy and a society characterised by its emphasis on reusing and recycling materials.","PeriodicalId":35909,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Environmental Assessment Policy and Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49151500","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The concrete impact channel of urbanisation is further tested in the inequality–growth nexus. The primary findings are presented as follows: (i) China’s green growth is improving, and widening income gap is reversing this active effect; (ii) the inhibiting effect of income inequality on green growth is mainly manifested in the promoting impact of inequality on economic growth and its deteriorative impacts on households’ wellbeing and the ecological environment; and (iii) the intermediary transmission role of urbanisation construction has been strongly proved; in other words, the widening income gap will further optimise the green and clean economy by boosting the construction of urbanisation. Following the above three findings, a series of policy recommendations are presented.","PeriodicalId":35909,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Environmental Assessment Policy and Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44362994","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using Pooled OLS estimations, results show that economic growth is on a pathway from which environmental quality is improved. Hypothesising that NRs exploitation is a potential factor that can exacerbate environmental quality, the study shows that the Asian economic structure is on a “green-resilience” path when controlling for total and each NRs component. The magnitude of each NR component in the ability of increasing CO2 emissions is characterised. Results are robust with different methods of estimations (control variables, alternative dependent variable, Two Stages Least Squares (2SLS)-3SLS Instrumental Variables strategies, Panel-Corrected Standard Error (PCSE) and Driscoll and Kraay methods). As policy implications, Asia-Pacific countries should amplify eco-innovation, development of renewable energies and fiscal policies as they positively impact FDI on green growth.","PeriodicalId":35909,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Environmental Assessment Policy and Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46389998","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The significant findings reveal that FDI (Foreign Direct Investment), both inward and outward, is an efficient factor in mitigating carbon emissions in the short term in Vietnam. The enhancements in the inward and outward flows of FDI in Vietnam will likely lead to a reduction in carbon emission increase which is in line with the environmental protection policy. In addition, it confirms the Halo pollution hypothesis in Vietnam, meaning that the Vietnamese government can mitigate CO2 emissions by improving FDI flows (both inward and outward).","PeriodicalId":35909,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Environmental Assessment Policy and Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44660954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper estimates the impact of climate policy uncertainty on corporate innovation using unbalanced panel data with 2,449 listed companies from 2009 to 2020. The findings show a significant positive correlation between climate policy uncertainty and corporate innovation investment. Specially, two possible mechanisms are explored. Government environmental regulations force companies to produce cleanly. Optimistic market expectations encourage firms to shift to a green development model. Further, the renewable energy industry and state-owned enterprises’ powers of innovation are more robust. Jointly, our findings offer the government a clear direction for policy making by identifying the effects of climate policy uncertainty on corporate innovation.","PeriodicalId":35909,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Environmental Assessment Policy and Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46948187","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to (1) understand the status quo and effectiveness of the plastic bag ban campaign by estimating the number of plastic bags used in Bangkok and Phuket (2) understand the consumers’ behavioural on plastic bag consumption and management by integrating a knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) model (3) provide policy recommendation to strengthen the country plastic waste management roadmap. The results showed that the ban on plastic bag campaign is effective, especially in the supermarkets and convenience stores in Bangkok. The numbers of plastic bags used per visit at supermarkets and convenience stores are approximately 1.9 bags and 1.7 bags, respectively, whereas the plastic bags used at fresh markets, restaurants, and food delivery services are, on average, up to 3.7, 3.1, and 2.8 bags per visit, respectively. On average, people in Bangkok use approximately 1.2 bags/person/day, while only 0.7 bags/person/day are used in Phuket. According to the KAP model, attitude is more crucial than knowledge towards pro-environmental behaviour. Bangkok residents’ trend to show more pro-environmental behaviour than Phuket residents. For policy implication, it is important to continuously communicate the environmental impact of plastics and emphasise the proper knowledge and attitudes toward plastic bags among people to encourage their cooperative behaviours in reducing the use of plastic bags and sorting waste for recycling.","PeriodicalId":35909,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Environmental Assessment Policy and Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42402933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, this study investigates the relationship between financial development and environmental degradation to promote low-carbon transition. The methodology of data collection techniques employed is the generalised method of moments (GMM) using a one-step and two-step approach, and a seemingly unrelated regression (SUR) test is used to obtain the study objectives. The empirical outcomes unveiled that fiscal decentralisation and financial inclusion favourably moderate the impact of total carbon emission (TCE) and carbon emission per capita on energy (CEPE) intensity. Ecological quality degrades by increasing financial development; however, human capital and institutional quality reduce environmental degradation. The causality analysis suggested that any policy related to economic growth, human capital, and institutional quality will affect the environment. Additionally, an institution’s quality reduces the negative ecological impacts caused by financial development. In conclusion, emerging economies should promote environmental sustainability by fostering human capital and effectively using financial resources. Also, economic growth in E-7 countries is responsible for reducing carbon emissions; therefore, E-7 governments should prioritise research into low-carbon technology and renewable energy sources, and the financial sector must play its role to give more capital that prioritises environmentally conscious enterprises and encourages strategies that minimise environmental impact.","PeriodicalId":35909,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Environmental Assessment Policy and Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48620886","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
