We have developed and publicly shared a vast quantity of heterogeneous data set collected over a continuous drive for four different kinds of road anomalies - Cat eyes, Potholes, Manholes and Speed Bumps, using a custom-made, dedicated device for data logging, recording vehicle's acceleration and GPS location. Sequential forward selection was performed on three groups of features i.e. FFT, DWT and peak accelerations for feature extraction and Classification and Regression Tree (CART) was used as the classifier. Performance metrics including FPR, FNR and TPR were calculated and compared and the best results have been reported. In addition to this, we also present annotated maps for repair authorities and regular drivers for visual inspection and intelligent navigation.","PeriodicalId":358074,"journal":{"name":"2018 17th ACM/IEEE International Conference on Information Processing in Sensor Networks (IPSN)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120990812","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Interaction with a certain proximity and thing is bringing smarter services into our daily lives through cyber-physical world collaboration. Push notification of meaningful content associated with the proximity or thing is one of key technologies of the cyber-physical services. For example, empty parking spot recommendation in a parking lot or promotion coupon notification of a shop at a shopping cent er should be delivered accordingly. This paper explores reliable push notification of content for novel interactive mobile applications over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacon infrastructure. Since mobile users move around with different speeds, this paper deals with such difference to relay right content in a reliable manner, called Reliable Push Notification (RPN). RPN dynamically clusters contents and links them to a beacon to achieve reliability, and then adaptively pre-allocate contents for transmission.","PeriodicalId":358074,"journal":{"name":"2018 17th ACM/IEEE International Conference on Information Processing in Sensor Networks (IPSN)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126277592","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Applications such as observing air quality and measuring traffic flows can have powerful impacts, allowing city planners and citizen scientists alike to understand and improve their world. However, the path from conceiving applications to implementing them is fraught with difficulty. A successful city-scale deployment requires physical installation, power management, and communications-all challenging tasks standing between a good idea and a realized one. The Signpost platform, presented at IPSN 2018, has been created to address these challenges. Signpost enables easy deployment by relying on harvested, solar energy and wireless networking rather than their wired counterparts. To further lower the bar to deploying applications, the platform provides the key resources necessary to support its pluggable sensor modules in their distributed sensing tasks. In this demo, we present the Signpost hardware and several applications running on a deployment of Signposts on UC Berkeley's campus, including distributed, energy-adaptive traffic monitoring and fine grained weather reporting. Additionally we show the cloud infrastructure supporting the Signpost deployment, specifically the ability to push new applications and parameters down to existing sensors, with the goal of demonstrating that the existing deployment can serve as a future testbed.","PeriodicalId":358074,"journal":{"name":"2018 17th ACM/IEEE International Conference on Information Processing in Sensor Networks (IPSN)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127631038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
