{"title":"Chondryt węglisty NWA 4446","authors":"T. Przylibski, Konrad Blutstein, K. Łuszczek, Joanna Gruchot","doi":"10.7306/2022.17","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.7306/2022.17","url":null,"abstract":"4446. Prz. 513–526; A b s t r a c t. The authors carried out petrographic, mineralogical, and chemical analyses (bulk chemical composition and microanalyses of mineral chemical composition) of NWA 4446 carbonaceous chondrite. NWA 4446 chondrite is classified as CV3, S2, W2. This meteorite is a rock fragment most likely from one of the C-type asteroids orbiting the Sun in the outer part of the asteroid belt. It represents the matter formed at the earliest stages of the formation of extrasolar bodies in the solar system. As a result of the research, the authors documented a wider range of variation in the chemical composition of olivine crystals (Fa: 0.67–46.57 mol%) in the matrix and chondrules, and a much narrower range of variation in the chemical composition of pyroxene crystals (Fs: 0.90–3.35 mol%) against the data used for the classification of the meteorite. The characteristics of the chondrules, ranging in size from 0.5 to more than 1 mm, allowed concluding that they constitute about 60% of the meteorite’s volume, in which they form many structural and mineral varieties PO, POP, BO, PP and RP chondrules were observed. The remaining 40% of the chondrite volume is a matrix consisting of small crystals of pyroxenes, olivines, glass, as well as opaque minerals: sulphides, FeNi alloy, native copper and gold grains, carbonaceous substance, and compact CAIs. The mineral and chemical composition of CAIs shows that their dominant mineral is melilite, accompanied by diopside and spinel. The chemical composition of spinel and diopside is very similar to their total chemical formulas, while the composition of melilite shows a significant sodium deficiency. Among the opaque minerals, one phase of the FeNi dominates – awaruite (Ni 3 Fe), and sulphides are represented by troilite (FeS) and mackinawite ((Fe,Ni) 9 S 8 ). Moreover, grains of native copper with an admixture of gold and grains of native gold with an admixture of platinum, nickel and copper with a size of several µm were identified. Taking into account the admixtures contained in the above-mentioned opaque minerals (mainly Co and Cu), the parent rock of the carbonaceous chondrite NWA 4446 can be considered to have been mineralized with Fe, Ni, Co and Cu ore minerals with the content of Au and Pt. This means that, we can expect deposits of native forms of the above-mentioned metals and sulphides on the parent bodies of carbonaceous chondrites of the CV group – C-type asteroids.","PeriodicalId":35787,"journal":{"name":"Przeglad Geologiczny","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71111243","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Geol., 70: 527–542; doi: 10.7306/2022.18 A b s t r a c t. The Tomis³awice lignite deposit is located in the Kujawy Lakeland (central Poland), on the water-shed between the Noteæ River (including Gop³o Lake) and the Zg³owi¹czka River (including Lake G³uszyñskie) catchment areas. The dewatering began in January 2009. In June 2011, the lignite seam was uncovered. The deposit was formed in a local Mesozoic depression within a tectonic structure, copmosed of Upper Cretaceous fractured marls. The average thickness of the lignite seam is about 7 m. All the boundaries of the Tomis³awice deposit are ero-sional. The top of the lignite seam, which is lowered to the north is at the average depth of between 38.3 m and 46.8 m. In the study area of the Kujawy Lakeland, groundwater with mineralization of up to 1g/dm 3 occurs down to a depth of 200 m in the Quaternary, Neogene-Paleogene, Cretaceous and Jurassic aquifers in the SE part of the area. The paper provides an analysis of the mine dewatering impact on aquifers within the cone of depression, over 270 km 2 in area, and the mine water drainage rate up to 90 m 3 /min. It is based on the data from the monitoring of the soil and water environment from 2008–2019 (groundwater, lakes). The analysis showed a particular mine dewatering impact of the developmnent of the Upper Cretaceous aquifer on the large-scale cone of depression around the Tomis³awice open pit mine. The described situation caused the mass drying up of farm wells and wetlands over a distance of up to 9 km from the open pit. The groundwater level on the moraine plateau has been almost completely drained and only to a small extent can it be periodically restored after longer periods of heavy rainfall.","PeriodicalId":35787,"journal":{"name":"Przeglad Geologiczny","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71111314","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
