In order to combat the high path loss experienced by THz signals, beamforming using multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems has been suggested. In this paper, two practical challenges for THz line-of-sight MIMO systems are investigated for the first time: the impact of antenna element directivity and self-induced inter-symbol interference on performance. The antenna consists of a rectangular waveguide, radiation slots, and a feeding port. By modifying the number of the radiation slots, the characteristics of the slot waveguide antenna become changed. The antenna gain of up to 17.5 dBi and a beamwidth of 1.8° can be achieved for an operational frequency of 300 GHz bands. The prototype consists of three resonators fed through four ports in a planar dielectric substrate without any additional resonators. The resonators are working in different frequency regions making it suitable for resonant based characterization at different frequencies using a single prototype. In this proposed work, the overall dimension of the prototype is 100mm x 50mm when fabricated in a 1.6mm thick FR4 epoxy substrate of dielectric constant 4.4 and loss tangent 0.02. The three resonators are operating within their fundamental mode at 900MHz, 1.8GHz and 2.4GHz respectively. The analysis in this work is carried out on the fundamental electrical mode for all the three resonators, but is similar for the higher order modes. By referring to array antennas, we propose an optimal synthesis approach able to determine the excitations of the array elements that can be reconfigured with tunable metamaterials for the realization of beam scanning. The achieved results are satisfactory and show improvements with respect to benchmark state of the art. Then, slot array antennas have been identified as possible realization technology in conjunction with electrically tunable nanomaterials. Rainfall cycle and lightning extremities are among the most evidenced effects of recent climatic changes. However, quantifying the climate change effect over a region is challenging especially for a country like India with such enormous topographic and climatic variabilities. The current work attempted to regionalize Indian subcontinent based on the major climatic factors using machine learning techniques. The resulting regions have showed distinct interrelationship between the climate variable. The imaging method relies on a convenient two dimensional mathematical formulation, in which the third spatial dimension, that is the depth, is neglected. The input data are bistatic measurements, where the source is fixed and the receiving antenna moves onto a plane parallel to the air/ground interface. Each set of spatial measurements is taken at one single frequency. Vipiana","doi":"10.23919/AT-AP-RASC54737.2022.9814318","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.23919/AT-AP-RASC54737.2022.9814318","url":null,"abstract":"This paper introduces a numerical and experimental assessment of the microwave device capabilities to perform continuous real-time imaging-based monitoring of a brain stroke, exploiting a differential measuring scheme of the scattering matrices and the distorted Born approximation. The device works around 1 GHz and consists of a low-complexity 22-antenna-array composed of custom-made wearable elements. The imaging kernel is built using an average-head reference scenario computed off-line via accurate numerical models and an in-house finite element method electromagnetic solver. The validation follows the progression of emulated evolving hemorrhagic stroke condition, including tests with both an average single-tissue head model and a multi-tissue one in the numerical part and the average scenario in the experimental one. The method is based on the Multilevel Nonuniform Grid (MLNG) approach, which previously has been successfully used in fast iterative solvers. However, the MLNG approach is also suitable for direct solvers.
