The focus is on drug inventory management and distribution inside a network of hospitals, re-designed and optimised by applying a hub and spoke perspective coupled with logistics outsourcing. An Italian HSC is analysed by a multi-method simulation modelling in order to understand the overall sustainability of the new integrated supply chain. The findings provide a comprehensive analysis of the total savings obtained: increased opportunity for healthcare professionals to focus on patient care, financial savings in terms of a reduction in annual public expenditure (–25.8%) and transportation emissions reduction inside cities (–32%). The paper suggests to managers and logisticians that more attention needs to be paid to measuring the actual sustainability of HSCs, suggesting new logistics improvements. The work is might be easily extendable to similar cases.","PeriodicalId":35507,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Integrated Supply Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84845236","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the paper is to support digital transformation in the following two areas: 1) identification of dimensions and factors on digital transformation projects to be observed in enterprises; 2) multi-aspect digital transformation ontology formalising the elements and inter-relationships of these factors. As most of the factors are of qualitative nature and difficult to measure, the multi-aspect ontology serves as means for operationalising them. To this end, an illustrative example and application steps are presented.","PeriodicalId":35507,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Integrated Supply Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72595759","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper uses survey data from SMEs to assess the current state of supply chain sustainability development in SMEs. This paper conceptualises a model of supply chain sustainability development based on Hayes and Wheelwright's four-stage operations development model. The posited model is empirically tested by applying cluster analysis to SME survey data. Four clusters (reactive sustainability, awareness sustainability, emergent strategic sustainability, and advanced strategic sustainability) were identified and tested to assess the current level of supply chain sustainability development and practices in SMEs. The model can serve as a progressive planning tool for sustainability development and strategies that impact performance in SMEs. The modified four-stage model also provides a type of scale with which managers of SMEs can measure their relative development of supply chain sustainability.","PeriodicalId":35507,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Integrated Supply Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82990869","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this regard, eco-label and environmental investment are amongst the solutions of the environmental protections. The aim of this paper is to present a mixed integer model for a closed-loop supply chain (CLSC) so that the eco-label of the product is identified, and the effects of recycling centre establishment and the environmental investment are studied. In this paper, the eco-label of the products is calculated by considering all of the activities through the supply chain according to life cycle analysis (LCA) method. The results of the study show the positive effect of the recycling centre establishment and the environmental investment on economic and environmental performance of the supply chain even though the environmental constraints are not imposed.","PeriodicalId":35507,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Integrated Supply Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72638904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To cope with rising volumes, involved participants in port logistics systems must adopt a coordinated and streamlined operational decision-making. Along with suitable infrastructure, the proper deployment of smart concepts and technologies can improve port-hinterland connection. In this context, this paper aims to propose a smart port-hinterland integration concept, which allows for vehicle flow operational visibility and synchronisation. The concept is assessed considering real-world data obtained from five major Brazilian ports, which aimed to mitigate infrastructure challenges. Obtained results substantiate that the adoption of smart port logistics systems improves the efficiency and reliability of port-hinterland integration, reducing disruptions risks for involved global supply chains.","PeriodicalId":35507,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Integrated Supply Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83740381","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are required in almost all business operations right from supplying the raw material to the manufacturing plants to delivering finished products to the end customers and hence appropriate selection of these service providers will not only make the organisation competitive but also contribute significantly to profitability. Present research focuses on first identifying criteria or enablers, which can be used to evaluate 3PLs. These enablers are further utilised by a hybrid multi-criteria decision-making technique of data envelopment analytic hierarchy process (DEAHP) to select the most appropriate 3PL service provider amongst choices available. With the help of exhaustive literature review, 14 major selection criteria were identified. Uniqueness of the research lies in the application of this hybrid technique to the selection of 3PLs for a manufacturing company.","PeriodicalId":35507,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Integrated Supply Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72648401","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
