The unit provides milieu therapy in conjunction with medical and other therapeutic interventions in accordance with patients’ needs. Method: All of the adolescents diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating Disorder according to DSM-IV and received inpatient treatment at the unit between the years 2005-2018 were recruited. Sociodemographic and family variables, individual and familial risks, presence of comorbid psychiatric diagnosis, the duration of treatment, The Children’s Global Assessment Scale (CGAS) and Health of the Nation Outcome Scales-Children and Adolescents (HONOSCA-TR) scores at admission and discharge were retrospectively collected. Results: A total of 19 adolescents were included in the study. Results demonstrated that average duration of stay at the unit was 70.31±19.12 (Mean±SD) days. General functionality measured by the CGAS significantly increased from admission to discharge following psychiatric inpatient treatment. Moreover, there were significant improvement in adolescents with eating disorders as indicated with all of the HONOSCA-TR subscales. Conclusion: These results implicate that long enough inpatient milieu therapy applied with multidisciplinary and multidimensional perspectives might have fostered the improvement of severely affected adolescents with eating disorders.","PeriodicalId":35401,"journal":{"name":"Yeni Symposium","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70829002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current study investigated the psychometric properties of a Turkish version of the Thought Control Questionnaire-Insomnia Revised (TCQI-R), an instrument developed to assess various strategies of thought control during difficult times of sleep. Method: Forty-five patients with major depressive disorder and four hundred sixty-three individuals from general population participated in the study (N=508; Mean age = 22.96; SD ± 4.82). Approximately half of the sample were female (n=294 57.87%). The TCQI-R, Insomnia Severity Index, and Depression Anxiety Stress Scale -21 (DASS-21) were administered in the study. Results: Analysis of the current data suggested a three factor latent structure of the instrument: aggressive suppression and worry, behavioral and cognitive distraction, and reappraisal. The TCQI-R revealed considerable internal consistency and temporal stability. All three types of thought control strategies specific to insomnia were found to be significantly associated with sleep disturbances as well as measures of depression and anxiety. Mediation latent structural equation model showed that pre-sleep thought management strategies significantly predicted severity of insomnia and indirectly cause significant increase in insomnia symptoms through exacerbation of negative emotional states (depression, anxiety and stress). Conclusion: We concluded in light of present results that the Turkish version of the TCQI-R has sound and promising features for research addressing implication of thought control strategies in sleep disturbances.","PeriodicalId":35401,"journal":{"name":"Yeni Symposium","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70828425","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
