We support the power and potential of it in solving real world problems. However, it is imperative to understand Big Data through the lens of 7 V's. 7th V as `Value' is desired output for industry challenges and issues. We provide a brief survey study of 7 Vs of Big Data in order to understand Big Data and extract Value concept in general. Finally we conclude by showing our vision of improved healthcare, a product of Big Data Utilization, as a future work for researchers and students, while moving forward.","PeriodicalId":353468,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2014 Zone 1 Conference of the American Society for Engineering Education","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117006835","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Between 2009 and 2011 we conducted two surveys of over 500 students in multiple majors and colleges. These surveys asked students detailed questions about their preferences concerning course selection, advising, and career paths. We present data from this study which may be helpful for faculty and staff who advise undergraduate students. We find that advising support software tools can augment the student-advisor relationship, particularly in terms of course planning, but cannot and should not replace in-person advising.","PeriodicalId":353468,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2014 Zone 1 Conference of the American Society for Engineering Education","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116157221","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to its low cost, small size, low power consumption with high efficiency, MEMS technology has been widely used in many fields. In this paper, the design and simulation of a magnetic micropump with tri-membrane fully differential structure is presented. The proposed micropump has two inlets and two outlets. It has two pumping chambers sealed by three Si membranes. A permanent magnet is deposited on the middle membrane. Poly-Si coils are deposited on the top and bottom membranes separately. When electrical current is conducted in the coil, a magnetic field is excited, and its polarity (north and south poles) can be easily exchanged by reversing the conducting current. The design and analysis of the micropump has been discussed in details, and based on those theoretical analysis, a set of optimized design parameter has been achieved. The ANSYS simulation is used to verify the function of micropump. The proposed micropump leads to improved pumping rate with better efficiency.","PeriodicalId":353468,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2014 Zone 1 Conference of the American Society for Engineering Education","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-02-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130411204","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
