It does sharpening at multiple levels of DWT with a small and fixed size Gaussian kernel and automatically adjusts for different amount of blurring in different direction. The proposed method is free from kernel estimation. The algorithm is designed to process in a heterogeneous environment consisting of CPU and GPU using OpenCL for fast processing. Significant performance enhancement has been achieved as compared to the CPU implementation and can be implemented in mobile devices for near real-time performance.","PeriodicalId":353124,"journal":{"name":"2014 First International Conference on Automation, Control, Energy and Systems (ACES)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127197370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper we deal with printed document where textual region is of printed characters, and non-texts are mainly photo images. Here we propose a model which performs labeling of different components of a printed document image, i.e. identification of heading, subheading, caption, article and photo. Our method consists of a preprocessing stage where fuzzy c-means clustering is used to segment the document image into printed (object) region and background. Then Hough transformation is used to find white-line dividers of object region and grid structure examination is used to extract the non-text portion. After that, we use horizontal histogram to find text lines and then we label different components. Our method gives promising results on printed document of different scripts.","PeriodicalId":353124,"journal":{"name":"2014 First International Conference on Automation, Control, Energy and Systems (ACES)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130372441","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Four slots with same arc radius are introduced on the four corners of the square patch, which provides a wide usable fractional bandwidth of more than 122% (3.1-12.85 GHz). The proposed antenna is simple and small in size as it is designed onto an inexpensive FR4 substrate with an overall dimension of 18 × 25 mm2. In this paper the effects of slots insertion, slot radius variation and gap variation between patch and ground plane are studied with the help of simulated results. Simulated results obtained for this antenna show that it exhibits good radiation behavior within the UWB frequency range.","PeriodicalId":353124,"journal":{"name":"2014 First International Conference on Automation, Control, Energy and Systems (ACES)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131979022","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First an optimized single section WPD is designed and the output response of this power divider needs to be improved for ultra-wideband applications. Then a two and three section WPD using binomial transformer is presented that yields satisfactory input and output responses for ultra-wideband communications. This study shows the improvement of output responses due to the introduction of λ/4 multi-sections and isolation resistors. All simulations are carried out by finite integration based CST STUDIO 10 3D EM simulator. The proposed multi-section WPD can be used for 1:2 way equal power division (3 dB) in ultra-wideband range (3.1-10.6 GHz).","PeriodicalId":353124,"journal":{"name":"2014 First International Conference on Automation, Control, Energy and Systems (ACES)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122238634","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Transmission loss function has been used as the problem objective. Various constraints participating in the problem formulation are voltage magnitude constraint, tap setting value constraint and nodal reactive capacity constraint. Load flow studies using standard Newton-raphson method and incorporation of optimization method using PSO have been done for standard IEEE 14-bus system and IEEE 30-bus system. Simulations are carried out using MATLAB. Optimal strings for bus parameters are obtained such that the transmission losses are minimized. Also the effect of variation of number of particles along with the changing number of iterations is compared for both the systems. Effect of constriction factor on the rate of convergence has been shown graphically.","PeriodicalId":353124,"journal":{"name":"2014 First International Conference on Automation, Control, Energy and Systems (ACES)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115795126","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
