The differential diagnosis is fundamental in this type of lesions, identifying the risk factors, symptoms and signs that orient towards the etiology (congenital, neoplastic, inflammatory or infectious). As concerns cervical adenopathies of infectious cause, they are more frequent in children. However, adults also usually develop them as a consequence of oral or pharyngotonsillar pathology. In these cases, a rapid response to empirical treatment is observed. However, if there is no resolution of the picture with such treatment within 2-3 weeks, it is necessary to extend the study by means of complementary tests. We present a rare case of suppurative lymphadenitis due to Staphylococcus aereus in the cervical region in a 45-year-old woman who presented to the emergency department with a cervical mass.","PeriodicalId":35298,"journal":{"name":"Revista Espanola de Cirugia Oral y Maxilofacial","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68156286","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Juvenile psamomatoid ossifying fibroma is a rare variant of ossifying fibroma, which can be locally aggressive, and with a high recurrence rate. We present the clinical case of a 15-year-old patient with a morbid history of hypothyroidism and hyperparathyroidism, who consulted for increased volume and displacement of teeth in the right maxilla. The histopathological result was consistent with juvenile psamomatoid ossifying fibroma. We present the case of a 73-year-old woman whose main oncological history to highlight is infiltrating ductal carcinoma of the breast treated with mastectomy and axillary lymphadenectomy and after that. metachronous bilateral clear cell renal cell carcinoma treated with radical nephrectomy. Since then, the woman has been on dialysis. It presents a 4 cm parotid tumor, which is radiologically classified as an intraparotid arterial pseudoaneurysm. After extirpation of the parotid gland, six years after the last nephrectomy, in the pathological study, together with dilated vessels, a neoplastic lesion compatible morphologically and immunohistochemically with metastasis of clear cell renal cell carcinoma is observed. A thorough review of the literature has been carried out, finding less than 60 reported cases of parotid metastasis from clear cell renal cell carcinoma. Analyzing them, we observed metastases in other places in 61 % of them, mainly lung, bone and adrenal glands, with a higher percentage of second metastases (70%) when there was a synchrony between renal carcinoma and parotid metastasis. In conclusion, we have presented an unusual case of late metastasis of clear cell renal carcinoma in the parotid, and the first -to our knowledge-, which is diagnosed as an incidental finding in the removal of an intraparotid aneurysm.","PeriodicalId":35298,"journal":{"name":"Revista Espanola de Cirugia Oral y Maxilofacial","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68156524","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this article we performed a literature review and present our experience in the management of fibroblastic ameloblastoma in 4 cases. Material and methods: We performed a review of cases published in the literature in PubMed between 2015 and 2022. Regarding our experience, research in the Anatomical Pathology department was done to find cases of ameloblastic fibroma that had been histologically confirmed. Results: The search rendered 29 results, of which only 9 were selected. All articles were single case reports, and most of them were located in the mandible (77,7 %). Encontramos 4 casos operados en nuestro departamento en los últimos 15 años. Dos lesiones se localizaron en el maxilar y dos en la mandíbula. En todos los casos se realizó enucleación y curetaje, incluyendo exodoncia de los dientes afectados, con evolución muy favorable y sin recidivas. Discusión: realizándose enucleación y curetaje con una evolución muy favorable. Se han descrito tasas variables de recurrencia y se ha identificado una variante maligna, por lo que se debe realizar un seguimiento a largo plazo. En la literatura encontramos solo informes de casos únicos, la mayoría de los casos se presentaron en la mandíbula y se sometieron a un tratamiento conservador con resultados favorables. En nuestra serie no observamos recidivas, con buena regeneración ósea y recibiendo tratamiento de ortodoncia posterior.","PeriodicalId":35298,"journal":{"name":"Revista Espanola de Cirugia Oral y Maxilofacial","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68156441","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Results: Visual Analog Scale of pain showed a high score on day one but decreased significantly at 2 and 3 days in both groups. But there were no significant differences in pain scores between the two groups on day 1, day 2, or day 3 separately. The two groups revealed identical mean rank scores of pain during the whole study period. Most cases arise in the major salivary glands, mainly the parotid. Generally, they are low-grade neoplasms with a 20░% rate of local recurrences and about 10░% rate of metastases which may appear many years after the initial presentation of the original tumour.
