The standard confidence interval derived from the classical Neyman procedure is unsatisfactory in the case of a bounded parameter space. New confidence intervals for the coefficient of variation in a normal distribution with a known population mean and a bounded standard deviation are proposed in this paper. A simulation study has been conducted to compare the performance of the proposed confidence intervals.","PeriodicalId":352801,"journal":{"name":"King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok International Journal of Applied Science and Technology","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124972354","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A 54% of the interviewed group prefers to apply heel insoles for releasing stress occurred during the day; especially the ladies who are members of an aircrew or a flight attendant. Some insoles or heel inserts are available in the market without clear product instructions or descriptions, only the trained brand ambassadors have introduced and suggested the specific characteristics of their products. Cost of inserts is depended upon the reliability, the brand designers or the materials of the product. Providing product description clearly on the package can help the customers avoid any confusion and eliminate issue about having trouble getting comfortable when they are wearing shoes with inserts. Applying the technical applications proposed in this research can help to select the appropriate insoles with a reasonable price for minimizing foot pain or extending the walking period tolerance of daily activities where the same or favorite shoes still be applied.","PeriodicalId":352801,"journal":{"name":"King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok International Journal of Applied Science and Technology","volume":"190 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133580237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it suffers from the rapid evaporation and sublimation loss. In this work, microwave graphene oxide (mGO) has been prepared as sorbent and tested for the slow release of menthol. Menthol was loaded into microwave graphene oxide at loading ratios of 1:0.5 and 1:1. The release performance of the mGO as compared to traditional essential oil reed diffuser and the pure menthol was studied by monitoring the menthol weight loss at the temperature of 80°C until all of the menthol evaporated using thermogravimetric analysis. It was found that mGO can significantly slow down the menthol release rate compared to that of the pure menthol by up to eight times slower. The interaction and adsorption mechanism of the menthol-loaded microwave graphene oxide was also studied using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) which indicates that menthol adsorbs strongly onto the mGO leading to the slow release rate.","PeriodicalId":352801,"journal":{"name":"King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok International Journal of Applied Science and Technology","volume":"47 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123654043","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Macroergonomics and Human Factors Analysis and Classification System (HFACS) were employed to investigate accidents in the construction industry. A total of 1,252 construction accident cases from 31 companies from 2006 to 2014 were analyzed and reported. Findings indicate that accidents occurred more frequently with young and middle ages (25–54 years old) in a large-scale construction company. Based on the reported cases, several major factors were found to predict root causes of accidents, including cuts, falls from height, and awkward working postures. Most construction accidents were associated with unsafe acts (88.97%) and preconditions for unsafe acts (72.92%). It is implied that improvements for changes in human behaviors, together with environmental and personnel factors are critical to increase the safety at the construction site.","PeriodicalId":352801,"journal":{"name":"King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok International Journal of Applied Science and Technology","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121858043","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each moisture-adjusted (25 and 30% wet basis) blend was fed via hopper into a single screw extruder. Screw speed of 70 rpm and barrel temperature were varied at 100 and 120°C for full factorial experimental design. Extruded instant rice with monoglyceride at 1.0 and 1.5% (w/w) showed better appearance with less stickiness and increased hardness and whiteness after rehydration compared to the product without monoglyceride. Addition of gum arabic could improve the texture of the products and exhibited comparable overall acceptance compared to the commercial product.","PeriodicalId":352801,"journal":{"name":"King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok International Journal of Applied Science and Technology","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130352371","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Effect of Injection Flow on Conductive Network in Polypropylene-carbon-filler Composite Bipolar Plates","authors":"R. Yeetsorn, M. Fowler, C. The bipolar plates should be produced via a standard mass production technique in a one-step process, since this can reduce the cost structure of fuel cell stacks, significantly contributed by the bipolar plates. Polypropylene/three-carbon-filler composites were selected for bipolar plate production through an injection molding process for this research work. Although the conductive injection moldable composites can be produced for a bipolar plate application, their electrical conductivity, especially through plane conductivity, has not yet achieved a commercial target. For that reason, a simulation of fiber orientation in an injecting plaque using the finite element simulation program Moldex 3D was carried out with the support of Compuplast Canada Inc. to investigate the effect of an injection flow on fiber orientation in conductive networks. Even the simulation output cannot clearly elucidate the orientation of carbon fibers in the composites containing hybrid fillers as the experimental results showed. Further improvements in the development of conductive networks in injected composite bipolar plates can be achieved, for example, through tailoring of a particular injection mold geometry for the bipolar plate production.","PeriodicalId":352801,"journal":{"name":"King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok International Journal of Applied Science and Technology","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133299431","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Keyword searching is usually a challenge to tourists, not well versed in structuring queries, and due to the ambiguity inherent in Internet searches, and the unique characteristics of tourism assets which vary, often significantly, from area to area. A semantic search is a key aspect of any information management solution for the unsophisticated end user. The concept of ontology comes into consideration because of its strength in resolving the unanbiguity of user’s search.This research introduces a cultural tourism ontology that enables users to search semantically to satisfy their particular interests. The evaluatin of the performance of the ontology in term of the correctness and of the data retrieval is measured by traditonal methods F-measure, precision and reall. The quality and effectiveness of the designed ontology was evaluated using OntoQA.","PeriodicalId":352801,"journal":{"name":"King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok International Journal of Applied Science and Technology","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122517558","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Reliability Analysis for Refinery Plants","authors":"Itthipol Nakamanuruck, Vichai Rungreunganun, S. Talabgaew","doi":"10.14416/J.IJAST.2017.01.002","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.14416/J.IJAST.2017.01.002","url":null,"abstract":"One of the main problems in compiling Preventive Maintenance (PM) plans for large-scale industries consisting of many subunits in the production system is the criterion used in the selection of machines and equipment to be maintained. The criteria most used are the failure frequency of each machine and equipment and the maintenance cycle time specified in the manual, as preventive maintenance is considered to be mainly time-based. In some cases, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) technique is applied in the selection of machines and equipment by considering individual and independent machines in the subsystems. The overall mechanisms of the machines and equipment were not considered, which may affect the production capacity. Therefore, this research applies reliability engineering techniques to find the overall reliability of machines and equipment in the production system of oil refinery models and determine the machine in the subsystem that affects that overall reliability. This in turn causes optimal preventive maintenance planning for machines and equipment in order to achieve the maximum efficiency for the oil refinery process. This research begins by studying the procedures of oil refinery models, then creating a reliability block diagram of the subsystems to find the reliability of the machines and equipment within each subsystem. Afterwards, the overall reliability of the production system will be determined, which leads to arranging the reliability of machines and equipment in the subsystems in ascending order. This develops into the preventive maintenance planning process so that the refinery process achieves its maximum efficiency.","PeriodicalId":352801,"journal":{"name":"King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok International Journal of Applied Science and Technology","volume":"18 15","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114489911","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Development of the mass exchanger state space model with controller design is proposed. The state space equations of the mass exchanger model have been developed based on assumptions a of lumped parameter system, including well mixing rich and lean streams, a linear equilibrium relation over the operating range and isothermal and isobaric conditions. The mass exchanger model is characterized as a non-passive system due to its positive passivity index, and according a weighting function is introduced to shift the system to passive region along with the controller tuning. A case study of a five-streams mass exchanger network with four control loops is demonstrated using a weihing function to again counter the non-passive characterstic. Multi-loop passive PI controllers of the mass exchanger network are developed. This passive control configuration is tested by both disturbance rejection and set-point tracking. The designed passive controllers are able to completely eliminate the impact of disturbance effects, and all control loops show good performance to track 4, 15, 3 and 1.5% change of the set-points.","PeriodicalId":352801,"journal":{"name":"King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok International Journal of Applied Science and Technology","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132198760","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
