A case study of graduate students of color was conducted to identify factors that encouraged and discouraged them from pursuing careers in counseling. The participants in this study indicated that diversifying the counseling field, exposure to helping professionals, location of the graduate program, lack of student diversity, and program admissions requirements influenced their decision to pursue graduate degrees in counseling. Statistical analysis showed the existence of three components which initially grouped the various causal attributions for poverty in developing countries: “Fault of the world economic structure”, “Fault of fate, nature, cultural habits, and political misconduct” and “Fault of the developing countries' population”. Five types of subjects were subsequently identified according to the type of causal attributions of poverty that the undergraduates had made and their country of origin, perceived social class, economic situation, political ideology and religious beliefs. El objetivo de la presente investigacion se centra en conocer como los propios adolescentes conciben el embarazo, la paternidad y maternidad en esta etapa. Se aplico un instrumento que evalua la opinion, asi como las actitudes hacia el embarazo adolescente a 421 jovenes (hombres y mujeres), todos ellos estudiantes de secundaria en los municipios de, Celaya, Irapuato y Leon, todos ellos en el estado de Guanajuato, Mexico. En los resultados se muestran diferencias en cuanto a la estructura, pero no en cuanto al significado que se tiene tanto de la paternidad como la maternidad en esta etapa. En general dicho significado compartido se asocia a aspectos positivos como los son, recibir cuidados y atenciones asi como obtener estabilidad. EnglishTeen pregnancy has been regarded as a problem of public health, In Mexico is a phenomenon who live each year 250,000 young men and women which are modified his life radically. The objective of this paper focuses on knowing how adolescents themselves conceive pregnancy, paternity and maternity at this stage. An instrument that assesses the opinion was applied, as well as attitudes toward teen pregnancy to 421 youngsters (men and women), all of them high school students in the municipalities of Celaya, Irapuato and Leon, all of them in the State of Guanajuato, Mexico.The results shows differences in terms of the structure, but not in the meaning that is both like motherhood parenthood at this stage. {"title":"Apuntes para el Desarrollo de Intervenciones de Prevención de VIH/ITS para Jóvenes en Puerto Rico","authors":"Patricia Noboa Ortega, David Pérez Jiménez","doi":"10.30849/RIP/IJP.V51I1.278","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.30849/RIP/IJP.V51I1.278","url":null,"abstract":"En este articulo presentamos los resultados de la implantacion de tres grupos focales utilizados para adaptar una intervencion para la prevencion del VIH/ITS en jovenes.  Uno de los grupos fue celebrado con hombres, uno con mujeres, y otro con parejas donde participaron un total de 27 personas.  Auscultamos el conocimiento sobre el VIH/ITS, las situaciones que los exponen a riesgo, el formato y contenido que una intervencion debia tener.  Encontramos que aunque los y las jovenes tenian un conocimiento basico, tambien tenian concepciones equivocadas como que el VIH/ITS se transmite por el beso y la saliva, y que la Clamidia se transmite por sentarse en  inodoros publicos. A total of 92 students at the National University of Mexico gave positive or negative responses in relation to the question if the trigram appeared to be or to sound like a word. The number of affirmative responses for each trigram was used to define its meaning, and this number varied between 3 and 90. The United States children included Els, which indicate anxiety, inadequacy, poor self-concept, resentment and aggression. These constructs are mediated by socio-cultural premises that are, in simplest terms, culturally significant statements held by a majority of the members of a society. In order to demonstrate the use of these constructs the United States was chosen as an \"active” culture and Mexico as a \"passive” culture. A series of 112 statements, dichotomized on the active-passive dimension, were presented to graduate students in the two countries.
