The study highlights the changing perceptions of technology right from a cause of pollution to a source of the solution. A revolutionary improvement in technology is essential for sustainable development. Corporations can achieve competitive advantage by implementing sustainability strategies based on technological and organisational innovations. The sustainability strategies are dynamic capabilities that can be developed through a continuous practice of addressing emerging issues of sustainable development. The competing and multi-faceted dimensions of sustainability strategies can be operationalised by using sustainability balanced scorecard. This study contributes to the literature on natural resource-based view by integrating sustainable value framework with sustainability balanced scorecard. An illustration of how to design the sustainability balanced scorecard is provided to guide researchers and practitioners on the implementation of sustainability strategies.","PeriodicalId":35200,"journal":{"name":"World Review of Science, Technology and Sustainable Development","volume":"21 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86687053","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In-depth case studies were conducted in two different expatriate groups, Embraer Brazilian workers (at Saab in Sweden) and Kuhn French workers (at Kuhn-MB in Brazil), in order to investigate their collaborative practices and professional cultures while implementing open innovation practices. The research is based on different large-sized firms and, therefore, the findings may not be applied to SMEs. The study identified ten main professional culture factors that were present and influenced open innovation. It provides information and is based on real aspects that involve workers from different cultures in collaborative projects. The factors described in this paper are based on the ongoing collaborative practices at the studied organisations, and results are expected to contribute to the management literature and practitioners.","PeriodicalId":35200,"journal":{"name":"World Review of Science, Technology and Sustainable Development","volume":"64 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90237520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Clustering methods are applied in order to allow the telecommunication network to infer about its topology and consumption load forecasting. Through an extensive analysis of Telecom Italia dataset and power distribution lines data available for the city of Trento, it was possible to confirm the high correlation between them, mainly when voice data is considered. To a great extent, this correlation can be explained by the fact that cellular communication devices are physically present in the service area of the distribution lines and when people are communicating, they are also consuming energy. Based on the aforementioned dataset, load curves for the city of Trento were constructed having as inputs data from telecommunication transactions. Results show that it is possible to use the telecommunication load as the input to predict the energy load, with the proposed model performing better than the naive predictor in 82% of the tested distribution lines.","PeriodicalId":35200,"journal":{"name":"World Review of Science, Technology and Sustainable Development","volume":"6 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72862541","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In recent years, the Brazilian Army has adopted the triple helix model and open innovation as cooperation models in research in order to generate innovation, involving the army research efforts, the defence industry and academia. Inspired on a Swedish model, one of the most recent army's initiatives to stimulate innovation was the creation of an open innovation arena in order to encourage joint open innovation projects in the area of intelligent energy conversion devices and energy storage, involving academia and industry actors. In this article, the concept of this pilot initiative and its first results are described. With the Arenas the army intends to induce the creation of a sustainable defence industry with companies based on dual use technologies in order to achieve strategic and economic goals.","PeriodicalId":35200,"journal":{"name":"World Review of Science, Technology and Sustainable Development","volume":"2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89754079","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Developed and emerging countries seek to making innovation policies as the central issue of their economic agenda. In this regard, in Brazil, the Inovacred Program by the Financing Agency for Studies and Projects (FINEP) aimed to support innovation projects at micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). This work proposes innovation criteria to assess the selection process of Inovacred Program projects. Four steps were taken such as from the identification criteria used in the evaluation of entrepreneurial innovation, the characteristics of micro and small companies, and the questionnaires application to collect feedback from experts on the relevance of innovation criteria. As result, were defined two proposals for innovation criteria based on the 29 experts from agencies accredited to Inovacred. Although of differences, both tenders have a significant number of criteria, being considered broad according to the scope of evaluation.","PeriodicalId":35200,"journal":{"name":"World Review of Science, Technology and Sustainable Development","volume":"43 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73798115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the help of extant literature, the author develops systematic and multidimensional frameworks on value creation and customers' adoptions barriers related to EVs. These multidimensional frameworks are then used to analyse the selected business models for their strengths and weaknesses. Findings of the study underscore differences in the business models adopted by the selected players with Tesla and e2o emphasising on product innovation while the other two, i.e., Carma and Wanxiang, focusing on the service dimension. The study recommends that adoption of a holistic approach combining product and service orientation in business models is necessary for wide-spread adoption of EVs. Besides, the role of forging partnerships across the value-chain partners and having policy support are also highlighted as key success factors for EVs.","PeriodicalId":35200,"journal":{"name":"World Review of Science, Technology and Sustainable Development","volume":"163 1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86659028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
