One of these challenges concerns model retrieval where support should be provided for the formulation and efficient evaluation of business process model queries. Recent years, queries based on behavioral information attracted more and more attentions both in the academic and industrial fields. However, there is not a widely accepted formal language to express the behavioral requirements. And the efficiency of the behavioral queries is another challenge when the process models contains arbitrary loop and/or extra-large parallel structures. The complete finite prefix (CFP) has been widely used to express the partial-order semantics of a Petri net. In this paper, we first extend CFP by connecting the cut-off events to continuation events, we call it temporal-order preserving complete finite prefix (TPCFP), where all the temporal relations between tasks can be extracted. Then we employ linear temporal logic formulae as the behavioral query language, whose formal semantics are defined over the TPCFP. The related algorithms are implemented in BeehiveZ. Experimental results are investigated with real-life processes and artificial processes in detail.","PeriodicalId":351015,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 15th International Enterprise Distributed Object Computing Conference Workshops","volume":"283 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128856578","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Towards a Unified Conceptual Framework for Service-Oriented Computing","authors":"P. Bostan, C. Atkinson, D. Draheim","doi":"10.1109/EDOCW.2011.29","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/EDOCW.2011.29","url":null,"abstract":"Given the importance of clients in service-oriented computing, and the ongoing evolution of distributed system and application realization technologies from client/service architectures, through distributed-object and service-oriented to cloud computing, there is a growing need to lower the complexities and barriers involved in the development of client applications. These range from large scale business applications and business processes to laptop programs and small \"apps\" on mobile devices. In this paper we present a unified conceptual framework in which the basic concerns and viewpoints relevant for building clients of service-oriented, distributed systems can be expressed and related to one another in a platform-independent, non-proprietary way. The basic concerns used to structure the framework are the level of abstraction at which a system is represented and the roles from which the software entities of a distributed system are viewed. Using the various models supported in the framework it is possible to customize each client developer's view and simplify the way in which service providers develop and maintain their services. This paper provides an overview of our framework and show how it could be applied using a small example.","PeriodicalId":351015,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 15th International Enterprise Distributed Object Computing Conference Workshops","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132832347","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Providing adequate tools to tackle the problem of debugging conflicting temporal compliance rules is an ongoing research topic. This problem is of paramount importance to achieve automatic support for early declarative design and to support evolution of rules in contract-based or service-based systems. In this paper we investigate the problem of extracting temporal unsatisfiable cores in order to detect the inconsistent part of a specification. We survey existing techniques to extract core and provide a new depth-first-search model checking which also enables to extract small unsatisfiable cores.","PeriodicalId":351015,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 15th International Enterprise Distributed Object Computing Conference Workshops","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132381180","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This enables successful optimization, reengineering and alignment on strategies. In general, measurement is done via numeric KPIs. Though, especially processes of a quantitative, nondeterministic or supportive nature are hard to describe via figures which leads to a reduced perception of performance problems. In this paper, the concept of visibility is presented. It fosters the development of a suitable Performance Assessment System (PAS) that broadens the range of indicators to e.g. goals, complexity, maturity, relations or dependencies in addition to KPIs to finally improve visibility of process performance.","PeriodicalId":351015,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 15th International Enterprise Distributed Object Computing Conference Workshops","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121005214","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With this intensified exchange, information security becomes a major issue. In particular, coordinated access control policies must be derived by multiple organizations in a systematic fashion. However, current access-control modeling methodologies do not sufficiently address interorganizational information flow. In order to close this gap, we provide a methodology for engineering access control policies between multiple organizations, which is motivated and exemplified by a case study on information federation in the industrial service sector. Furthermore, we present a tool-supported approach for semi-automatic generation of interorganizational role-based access control policies derived from graphical business process models.","PeriodicalId":351015,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 15th International Enterprise Distributed Object Computing Conference Workshops","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122698524","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, implementing ITIL is not only very difficult but also there are no recommendations and guidelines for it. As a result, ITIL implementations are usually long, expensive and risky. In a previous paper we proposed a maturity model to assess an ITIL implementation and provided a roadmap for improvement based on priorities, dependencies, and guidelines. In this paper, we demonstrate a practical application of the proposed model with a questionnaire to assess the Incident Management and Configuration Management processes as well as the Service Desk Function. We evaluate the questionnaires in 13 assessments in five Portuguese organizations and then implemented a prototype to support the assessments. We finally draw conclusions that could be very useful for organizations that are considering ITIL implementation.","PeriodicalId":351015,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 15th International Enterprise Distributed Object Computing Conference Workshops","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126175578","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These data are available on e-Government Web Portals in unstructured formats using current Web languages, making them difficult to reuse and to generate new information. In this context, access to relevant, accurate public information, and possible reuse by other applications become increasingly complex. Open Government Data (OGD) means the publication of data in open raw formats (open data). There are tools to put open data on the WWW. However, this tools doesn't work with an architecture covering all aspects of data reuse. The aim of this paper is to show an architecture called Delivering Information of Government (DIGO) to allow access to primary data by machines in open data so that citizens interested in doing so can combine them (linked open data) and produce new information and mashup applications, consequently, enabling OGD and data fusion on the Linking Open Data (LOD) cloud.","PeriodicalId":351015,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 15th International Enterprise Distributed Object Computing Conference Workshops","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127217142","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the present solutions for setting up new collaborations are based on ad hoc methods, or require integration through shared computing and communication platforms. These solutions leave collaborations with major risks on not detecting failures, functional or non-functional, breaches of trust or contractual state, or without systematic support on reacting to the changes in the business environment. This paper proposes service ecosystem governance principles, which are illustrated through the example analysis of the Pilarcos framework for service ecosystems. Service ecosystem governance supports correctness in dynamic collaborations despite strong autonomy of the partners, adaptability to changing business situations, and the manageable evolution of the service ecosystem that is necessary for sustainable networked business.","PeriodicalId":351015,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 15th International Enterprise Distributed Object Computing Conference Workshops","volume":"113 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116814172","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since the web 2.0 gave to customers the change to interact with the Internet, they are not any more static entities but can also contribute to the design or co-creation of new services. In this paper we show how customers can help to dynamically bundle services, our approach is based on customer and supplier perspectives. A broker is in charge of matching both perspectives, depicting not only customer desires but also supplier offerings. Moreover, our approach is illustrated by a case study. Finally, we provide some reflections as well as future lines of research.","PeriodicalId":351015,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 15th International Enterprise Distributed Object Computing Conference Workshops","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128820706","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
