In these methods, the systems create the indexes for the site retrieval based on the locations at that sensor data are obtained. The systems can much faster retrieve the queried data by creating the indexes also based on the sensing information such as the times at that sensor data are obtained and the queried ranges. Hence, we propose a spatiotemporal index creation method considering sensing information such as the locations and the time. In our proposed method, an index server manages the range of the locations and the times of the mobile sensor data that each site has. For the management, the index server constructs tree structured indexes. Our evaluation show that our proposed method can reduce the retrieval time compared with conventional indexing methods.","PeriodicalId":350052,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing (PACRIM)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125261813","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To mitigate this problem, a new approach to channel identification based on the ratio of the minimum slope and skewness of the output of an energy detector is presented. The IEEE 802.15.3c 60 GHz channel models are used to examine the performance of this technique. The simplicity of the proposed approach lies in the use of an energy based time of arrival (TOA) estimation algorithm. Performance results are presented which show that accurate identification of the type of channel can be achieved.","PeriodicalId":350052,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing (PACRIM)","volume":"288 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124215174","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, obtainable performance and energy efficiency on a GPU depends on how well the GPU resources and application demands are balanced. In this study, we are presenting a Neural Network based predictor to model power and performance of GPGPU applications. The proposed model accurately predicts power and performance for most of the configurations in the design space with average prediction error of less than 6.5%. For configurations with high prediction errors, we have developed an outlier detection method to filter them out from the output of the model. The proposed filter captures most of the extreme outliers and improves the accuracy of the model.","PeriodicalId":350052,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing (PACRIM)","volume":"129 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126276701","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two typical IR signals for positioning systems, namely polarity codes and pulse position modulation (PPM), are considered. The ranging and positioning accuracy and reliable distance in residential environments are investigated. Both line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) channels are examined. Simulation results are presented which show that there is no significant difference in the ranging error between IR 60 GHz systems using polarity codes and PPM, particularly at high SNRs. Results are presented which show that millimeter level accuracy in a LOS environment and centimeter level accuracy in a NLOS environment can be achieved for an SNR greater than 5 dB. The corresponding reliable ranging distance is between 21 m and 31 m, and the effective positioning range is between 100 m2 and 400 m2.","PeriodicalId":350052,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing (PACRIM)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124540228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents Proteus, a flexible and extensible framework allowing different machine learning algorithms to be introduced in a plug-and-play manner in order to be evaluated. Proteus enables domain experts to more easily compare, contrast, and even combine results from classifiers including Deep Learning, GLM, GBM, Naive Bayes, Random Forest, SVM and Linear Regression. Leveraging this design, it is easier to explore the possibility that a combination of multiple classifiers may be the best approach to guaranteeing high accuracy. A case study involving 6 months of mouse-movement data from 5 patients with a Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) of 0 (control group) and 5 patients with a CDR of 0.5 (considered a high impairment level) identifies the costs and benefits of this engineering effort towards a scalable, flexible and extensible architecture for multi-classifier analysis.","PeriodicalId":350052,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing (PACRIM)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133013377","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It increases the utilization of spectrum by regarding operators' allocations of spectrum as a shared resource and sets user priorities for accessing this spectrum. Task scheduling is, however, a strong NP-hard combinatorial optimization problem, and therefore it is difficult to obtain optimal solution in a practical period of time with the task scheduling. For problems additionally extended to take inter-processor communication delay into consideration, it will be more time-consuming to obtain the optimal solution. For these problems, the authors perform parallelized optimal solution search based on branch and bound method. For the sake of effective and high-speed optimal solution search, it is necessary that the lowest limit of the process time from each task for bounding operation to the end of the final task be found out with consideration of the communication time between the tasks. In this study, we developed a method for improving the accuracy of the lower bound and a GUI tool for allowing to manually interfere the search order for the parallel search in order to find out better heuristics useful for the searching.","PeriodicalId":350052,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing (PACRIM)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126630301","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is due to the property of virtually zero power dissipation in reversible circuits. A major concern in reversible circuits is the number of circuit lines which corresponds with qubits. Qubits are a limited resource. There are various reversible logic synthesis algorithms which require a significant number of additional constant lines. In this paper we explore the line reduction problem using a synthesis approach based on decision diagrams. We have added a sub-circuit for a positive Davio node structure to the existing node structures given in [1] with a shared node ordering in OKFDDs. OKFDDs are a combination of OBDDs and OFDDs, thus exhibiting the advantages of both. Our approach shows that the number of circuit lines and quantum cost can be reduced using OKFDDs with our new sub-circuit and shared node ordering.","PeriodicalId":350052,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing (PACRIM)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130651799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work we propose a more aggressive design, decentralizing the location of shared content within a peer-to-peer structure. Ease of deployment is maintained through a novel architecture for a multilayer distributed cloud. This paper describes how this approach has shown promise in a prototype app, ThinkTogether, and the potential to enable a consistent user experience, even for remote peers sharing VoIP.","PeriodicalId":350052,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing (PACRIM)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134135111","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ebene, Yu-Ran Oh","doi":"10.1109/PACRIM.2015.7334825","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/PACRIM.2015.7334825","url":null,"abstract":"Since ITU started to study the NGI (Next Generation Internet) architecture, the need to develop new Internet interconnection and access schemes has been growing. This study first introduces imperatives of an effective NUC (Network Usage Charging) framework for NGI services like VoIP and IP-TV. We start with analyzing the value chain structure in the NGI services, where NPs (Network Providers) and SPs (Service Providers; for e.g., VoIP providers) are key players. Special emphasis is given to identifying key economic factors for establishing a viable and efficient alternative of NUC so that it can create a promising marketplace for the NGI services. In particular, we identify and focus on the following components: (1) EB (Equivalent Bandwidth or Effective Bandwidth) for accurate estimation of network resource consumption, (2) T̅, industry benchmark of service-specific traffic load as a proxy for standard operating costs of an NP, (3) δ, contribution factor for inducing cooperation between NPs and SPs for effective end-to-end QoS. With these components as building blocks, developed is a new framework of NUC in order to properly address the NUC issues for NGI services. Our novel approach will encompass the ideas from the cost-based models as well as the revenue sharing models. The former pertains to the components (1) and (2), and the latter to the component (3) However, the proposed framework is more than a simple mix of the relevant ideas, and adequately combines key components in a well-organized and integrated form. The overall outline of the proposed framework is built upon the basis of a benefit sharing model, where the concept of the benefits is also closely connected with service-specific operating costs by means of WTP (Willingness-To-Pay) and EB. Specifically, we propose a simple equation as a novel NUC rule for NGI services. In the future research, we will analyze the potential impacts of the suggested NUC scheme on the social efficiency.","PeriodicalId":350052,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing (PACRIM)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125737622","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
