VESTA seamlessly visualizes multiple numbers of crystal, volumetric and morphology data in a same graphic window. It can calculate and output a variety of crystallographic information. Dysnomia is much faster than its predecessor PRIMA, and has several new features including a brandnew LBFGS algorithm and a new type of constraints. Dysnomia is virtually integrated with a pattern ˆtting system RIETANFP for the MEMbased pattern ˆtting. These programs have been widely used in thousands of researches not limited to mineralogy but also in a variety of areas including chemistry, materials science, bioscience, electronic state calculations and so on.","PeriodicalId":34971,"journal":{"name":"Japanese Magazine of Mineralogical and Petrological Sciences","volume":"15 1","pages":"52-56"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78427633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The layered structure and high a‹nity to water should be related to the low friction coe‹cient. We have investigated the interlayer bonding energy, adsorption energy of water molecules, and physical properties of adsorbed water by using molecular simulations, surface xray scattering, and surface forces measurements. These results were used for interpreting the weak friction coe‹cients of layered minerals.","PeriodicalId":34971,"journal":{"name":"Japanese Magazine of Mineralogical and Petrological Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"25-31"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82363881","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
