Pain remains the main annoying symptom postoperative. Objectives: This study aimed to proof if using incentive spirometry (IS) after LC will alleviate tip shoulder and right hypochondrial pain. Patients and Methods: On 90 patients undergoing LC at Kasr Al ainy hospitals and National Hepatology and Tropical Medicine Research Institute (NHTMRI) who were identified as having chronic calcular cholecystitis clinically and radiographically by ultrasonography, a prospective randomized controlled research was conducted. Two groups are formed. Group I (n = 45) receiving IS (consisting of 20 slow, deep breaths with a spirometry while sitting or semi sitting every 2 hours beginning at 2 hours postoperative) . There will be no respiratory over activity in Group II (n = 45). The \"Visual Analogue Scale\" (VAS) score used to further analyses shoulder and right hypochondrial pain. Results: Group I average pain score was significantly lower than Group II average pain score at 2 hours, 4 hours, and 6 hours (p-value 0.001), as well as at 8 hours (p-value =0.007). However, there were no significant differences between the study group and the control group on the second postoperative day (p-value = 0.900). In comparison to the control group, the study group receives a significantly lower dose of an analgesic (p-value 0.001). The women age and the condition of their ovarian reserve are the primary determinants of oocyte quality. Objectives: to assess the effects of intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) on the result of pregnancies and the coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) value in follicular fluid (FF) in the women who had the procedure. Patients and methods: this cohort investigation was conducted on 81 infertile patients (age between 20-42 years, both normal or poor responders ’ patients and patients with unexplained infertility) who underwent ICSI cycles. Results: patients were divided into two groups: the pregnant group (n= 32) and the non-pregnant group (n= 49). There was a statistically insignificant difference in antral follicle count (AFC), number of retrieved oocytes, number of embryos, number of metaphase II (MII) oocytes, and maturation index between pregnant and non-pregnant females. CoQ10 level in FF was substantially greater in pregnant than non-pregnant females. Conclusion: FF CoQ10 levels were positively correlated with eventual embryo quality and rates of conception. Our findings might be in favour of CoQ10 supplementation in women undergoing IVF for enhancement of the ovum and embryo quality.","PeriodicalId":34789,"journal":{"name":"SVU International Journal of Medical Sciences","volume":"411 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84883162","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Males are four times more likely than females to have it. The most prevalent subtype is urothelial carcinoma. Development and progression of bladder cancer are influenced by estrogen receptors. Objectives: To examine the expression of estrogen receptor beta in bladder urothelial carcinoma and how it relates to other pathological factors of prognostic significance. Materials and method: Fifty formalin fixed and paraffin-embedded tissue sections of cases of urothelial carcinoma from transurethral resection and radical cystectomy specimens were examined histopathologically by routine H&E stain and immunohistochemically stained with Anti-ER-beta antibody. The immunohistochemical expression of estrogen receptor beta was assessed. Results: Of the 50 cases of urothelial carcinoma, mean age 60 ±8.7 range (41-85) years, 34 male and 16 female, estrogen receptor beta was expressed in 29 (58%) of the cases. The expression of ERβ was significantly elevated in high grade (p value 0.006). The ERβ expression was also significantly increased in advanced tumor stages (p value 0.03) and in muscle invasive tumor (p value 0.004). The presence of lymphovascular emboli was associated with higher ERβexpression. Conclusion: ERβ expression is significantly associated with high grade and with advanced stages of urothelial carcinoma.","PeriodicalId":34789,"journal":{"name":"SVU International Journal of Medical Sciences","volume":"124 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88037281","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Antibiotics are routinely prescribed to treat these pyogenic bacterial infections, but their toxicity poses a severe threat. It is important to know the antimicrobial resistance profile of such pathogens for proper management of the patients. Objectives: To determine the bacteriological profile and antibiotic resistance pattern of pyogens. Patients and Methods: In this cross sectional study, a total of 678 pus samples were received and processed for aerobic culture from various departments. Standard techniques were used to identify isolates from positive pus cultures, and CLSI standards were used to identify antimicrobial susceptibility patterns. Results: Out of the 678 samples, 347 (51.18%) showed growth of pathogenic bacteria. Two hundred seventeen two (40.11%) Gram positive cocci and 75 (11.06%) Gram negative bacilli isolates were identified. Staphylococcus aureus was the most common isolate (57.5%). Most of the isolates were highly resistant to commonly prescribed antimicrobial drugs like Amoxycillin clavulanate. Most of the gram positive isolates were susceptible to vancomycin, linezolid, and teicoplanin. Most of the Gram-negative isolates were sensitive to imipenem. Conclusion: Microbiological profile findings of pus culture isolates as well as their pattern of antimicrobial resistant may aid in the formulation of antibiotic policies for pyogenic infections.","PeriodicalId":34789,"journal":{"name":"SVU International Journal of Medical Sciences","volume":"10 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78657064","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
