Thanks to its unique tracking and PID capabilities in the forward rapidity region, the LHCb detector can provide important results on heavy flavour production in proton-lead and lead-lead collisions at LHC. Moreover, LHCb has the unique capability to operate in a fixed-target configuration and study proton and ion-beam induced reactions on gaseous targets. In the following, we report on the results and performances on open and hidden heavy-flavour hadron production in proton-lead, lead-proton and lead-lead collisions, recorded in collider mode, and in proton-nucleus collisions, recorded in fixed target mode.","PeriodicalId":346295,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of Sixth Annual Conference on Large Hadron Collider Physics — PoS(LHCP2018)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125076781","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The angular distributions of $b to s ell^+ ell^-$ transition processes of both $mathrm{B}^0 to mathrm{K}^{*0} mu^ +mu^-$ and $mathrm{B}^{+} to mathrm{K}^{+} mu^+mu^-$ decays are studied using a sample of proton-proton collisions at $sqrt{s} = 8~mathrm{TeV}$ collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $20.5~mathrm{fb}^{-1}$. Angular analyses are performed to determine the angular parameters $P_1$ and $P_5'$ for $mathrm{B}^0 to mathrm{K}^{*0} mu^ +mu^-$ and $A_{FB}$ and $F_{H}$ parameters for $mathrm{B}^{+} to mathrm{K}^{+} mu^+mu^-$, as functions of the dimuon invariant mass squared. Sensitivity to the Higgs self-coupling for m$_{H}$ = 125 GeV is evaluated through the measurement of the non-resonant di-Higgs production final states in proton-proton collisions at a future hadron collider with a center-of-mass energy of 100 TeV. The parton-level generation of the signal and the backgrounds is performed by using MadGraph5$_$aMC@NLO; then, the Delphes framework is used for a fast parametrization of the FCC-hh detector response. The considered decay channels are $HH to VVbbar{b}$, where $V=Z,W$. For the non-resonant SM signal in an ideal detector parametrization, a precision of O(10%-20%) on the SM cross-section can be estimated in the $bbar{b}ZZ(4l)$ and $bbar{b}WW(lnu jj)$, respectively, corresponding to a precision of O(14%-40%) on the Higgs trilinear coupling.","PeriodicalId":346295,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of Sixth Annual Conference on Large Hadron Collider Physics — PoS(LHCP2018)","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125013985","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The presented results exploit the data collected during 2015 and 2016 by the ATLAS experiment during LHC collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. Multivariate analysis techniques are used in order to discriminate the signal from the very large backgrounds arising mainly from top-quark pair production. In addition, for the first time the analysis uses algorithms specifically designed to cope with the challenging reconstruction of hadronically decaying high-$p_mathrm{T}$ bosons and top quarks. The combined best fit value of the signal strength is found to be $0.84^{+0.64}_{-0.61}$, while a value greater than $2.0$ is excluded at 95% confidence level while the expected upper limit is $mu < 1.2$ in the absence of a $tbar t H$ signal.","PeriodicalId":346295,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of Sixth Annual Conference on Large Hadron Collider Physics — PoS(LHCP2018)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127769091","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various b tagging algorithms exist at CMS and are further developed with the use of the machine learning techniques. The $p_{rm T}$ spectra at mid-rapidity ($|y| < 0.5$) of pions, kaons and protons are presented. The preliminary $p_{rm T}$ spectra are obtained by combining independent analyses with the Inner Tracking System (ITS), the Time Projection Chamber (TPC), and the Time-Of-Flight (TOF) detectors. This paper focuses on the details of the analysis performed with TOF and in particular on the performance implications of the special Xe--Xe run conditions. The peculiarity of this data set comes from the experimental conditions: because of the lower magnetic field of the ALICE solenoid ($B = 0.2text{ T}$, lower than the nominal $0.5text{ T}$) we expect to explore a $p_{rm T}$ region unattainable before. A comparison between the yields at different centrality bins will also be provided.","PeriodicalId":346295,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of Sixth Annual Conference on Large Hadron Collider Physics — PoS(LHCP2018)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130088202","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Results on the $p_T$ and centrality dependence of $v_n$ harmonics are presented. A comparison of the measured $v_n$ to Pb+Pb results and theoretical predictions is shown. The data indicate stronger event-to-event fluctuations of $v_n$ harmonics in the Xe+Xe collision system as compared to Pb+Pb collisions. For Pb+Pb collisions at the energy of $sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV, the modified Pearson's correlation coefficient for event-wise the mean transverse momentum and the square of the magnitude of flow harmonics is also. Significant, non-zero correlation coefficients for $v_2$, $v_3$ and $v_4$ harmonics are obtained. The coefficients weakly depend on the transverse momentum range of the selected particles. The coefficient for the second order harmonic is negative in peripheral events, has a significant positive value for mid-central events and drops in the most central collisions. Measured Pearson's coefficients are compared to model predictions.","PeriodicalId":346295,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of Sixth Annual Conference on Large Hadron Collider Physics — PoS(LHCP2018)","volume":"61 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120926493","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
