Hydrate-forming gas in the continent–ocean transition zone, in general, is a mixture of the thermogenic and microbial components with the characteristic isotopic composition of methane from –40 to –75 ‰ PDB. Gas hydrates were found also within the areas of magmatic and coal-metamorphogenic gases fluxes into the host sediments. The Okhotsk and Japan Seas gas hydrate-bearing provinces have a signs of gas hydrocarbon zonality (in accordance with the classical oil and gas formation pattern). Multilevel (stratified) gas hydrates accumulations in the western part of the Pacific Ocean have been revealed, which is an important factor in the methane and carbon cycle. The genetic and spatial correlation of gas hydrate-bearing sediments with oilgas and coal-bearing strata is traced. The most important factor in the formation of gas hydrates is the geological structure of the regions under favorable temperature, pressure and geochemical conditions. Neotectonics is the most important factor controlling relict gas hydrates, located below the sea floor up to 2000 meters, and modern tectonics – gas hydrates in the near-bottom interval. The nodes of active faults intersections, especially those controlled by deep zones, are the subject to permeability and are in close proximity to petroleum-bearing forms, which are the most promising patterns for the massive aggregates of gas hydrates. Сравнение результатов исследований 1960 и 2004 гг. показало стабильность физико-химических параметров термальных вод района за этот период. Температура и химический состав источников зависит от степени разбавления пресными и морскими поверхностными и подземными водами. Диапазон температур Лунских гидротерм находится в пределах 20–55 °С, общая минерализация достигает 3–4 г/л. По соотношению основных катионов и анионов гидротермы относятся преимущественно к гидрокарбонатно-хлоридным натриевым водам. В термальных источниках наблюдаются интенсивные выходы газов, состоящих преимущественно из метана (88–93 %). С 2012 г. режим термальных источников поменялся, наблюдается прекращение выхода гидротерм на поверхность. Причины изменения режима источников достоверно не установлены. Использовался комплексный каталог механизмов очагов с глубиной более 200 км за период 1966–2018 гг. по данным NIED, GlobalCMT и ИМГиГ ДВО РАН. Анализ данных проводился в системе координат, связанной с погружающейся плитой. Реконструкция поля тектонических напряжений выполнена методом катакластического анализа. Показано, что ось главного напряжения сжатия почти на всех участках сейсмофокальной зоны примерно совпадает с направлением погружения Тихоокеанской литосферной плиты под Охотоморскую с небольшим отклонением в сторону фланга зоны субдукции. Ось главного напряжения растяжения на всех участках перпендикулярна движению плиты. В северо-восточной и северо-западной, наиболее глубоких частях изучаемой области, это обеспечивает напряженное состояние сжатия относительно плиты, южнее и на меньших глубинах отмечены участки напряженного состояния сдвига. Возможно, такое направление оси растяжения вызвано удлинением фланга субдуцирующей плиты в юго-западном направлении. В западной части изучаемого района показаны особенности поля напряжений на границе Курило-Камчатской и Японо-Идзу-Бонинской сейсмофокальных зон. Paleotsunami data found earlier on the Khalaktyrka coast near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy have been used for testing of the developed model. Показана эффективность использования алгоритма для обнаружения тропосферных эффектов, предшествующих сильным землетрясениям. Therefore, the paper analyzes the data of field observations of the waves in the coastal zone of the South-Eastern coast of Sakhalin Island during the movement of cyclones and cold fronts. It was found that remote cyclones in the Pacific Ocean can cause of swell several days ahead of the arrival of cyclone in the observation points. However, such cyclones excite strong storm waves not every time when they become to the area of Okhotsk Sea. This is apparently caused by the blocking action of high atmospheric pressure zone (the anticyclone) located over the Pacific Ocean. It has been shown that the vast cold fronts when moving over the Sea of Okhotsk were able to cause strong winds, which in turn excite waves in the coastal zone up to 1 m height. The combined influence of the vast cold front and the cyclone could lead to a significant wind waves in the Mordvinova Bay, of height up to two meters. The studied area is located on the side of the South Kuril Strait, which is currently being actively developed. The purpose of the article is to establish the chronology of the strongest tsunamis that occurred here in the middle-late Holocene, to evaluate their parameters and recurrence. Data on the sections of Holocene deposits, selected on lowland within head of the bay was also attracted. The diatom analysis was used as well as lithological study for identification of paleotsunami deposits. Tsunami sands include marine and brackish-water diatom species, benthic sublittoral forms predominate, the plankton sublittoral species has been found also. Finally, the oceanic diatoms, which came from deep-sea straits, have been represented in small numbers. The grain size composition of tsunami sands is very different depending on the sedimentation conditions existing on the coast: only thinner suspensions spread into the lake; sand sheets formed on the surface of the peat bog have a coarser composition and greater thickness. There are signs of active material feed from the slopes during some events. Paleotsunami age has been determined on the base of radiocarbon dating and tephrostratigraphy data. The lacustrine-swamp sequences included 2 layers of Tyatya Volcano tephra and 2 transit volcanic ash, the sources of which were eruptions of Tarumai and Mashu volcanoes, located on Hokkaido Island. The recurrence of strong tsunamis over the last ~7240 cal. has been established at first for the Malokurilsk village area, and the comparison of the obtained results was made with the results for Khromova, Otradnaya, Krabovaya bays and Pacific sides of the island. The paleo-events is proved to be more intense than the historical tsunami.
