The network is based on the RFeye system of CRFS where the data is collected employing mobile monitoring vehicles. The measurement data, obtained from a frequency sweep between 10 MHz and 6 GHz, is further analyzed. For this purpose a tool is made, tailored for the needs of the spectrum regulator. Initial results are presented based on the measurement data showing the spectrum occupancy of various Dutch operators in the GSM downlink bands for different geographical areas. In addition, the statistics are provided with respect to the in-band power variation.","PeriodicalId":344975,"journal":{"name":"2010 17th IEEE Symposium on Communications and Vehicular Technology in the Benelux (SCVT2010)","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126214715","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The P-BSLM method generates more candidates than the classical SLM (C-SLM) method while using the same number of IFFT computations. Moreover, common stage computation in an IFFT process can reduce the computational complexity. More candidates increase the PAPR reduction capability, and give a better error performance in the presence of non-linear amplifier. This method has the maximum spectral efficiency without side information, and the phase sequence can be correctly detected using partial blind phase sequence detection.","PeriodicalId":344975,"journal":{"name":"2010 17th IEEE Symposium on Communications and Vehicular Technology in the Benelux (SCVT2010)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130278711","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper we address the question of how to select an optimal duty cycle for strobed preamble MAC protocols. We propose and evaluate a distributed algorithm which minimizes the energy consumption of a wireless sensor network through adaptation of the radio duty cycle. Our approach is based on the minimization of the expected energy for the transmission of a message given a certain interarrival time distribution. We deduce generic expressions for the optimal duty cycle configuration independent of the characteristics of the specific interarrival time distribution when the variance of the distribution is large. Furthermore we demonstrate that significant gains in terms of energy consumption can be accomplished with this mechanism.","PeriodicalId":344975,"journal":{"name":"2010 17th IEEE Symposium on Communications and Vehicular Technology in the Benelux (SCVT2010)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124934795","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To assess the impact on perceived comfort objectively, a wireless vibration monitoring system is needed that measures whole-body vibrations directly on the human body. To this end, we have developed a wireless body area network consisting of low-power vibration sensor nodes that have a small and ergonomic form factor and that are easy to install. Furthermore, we have validated the BAN along with the necessary post-processing of the raw vibration signals on a real industrial case, i.e. the driver of a forklift. Our system proves to be instrumental in optimizing critical tuning parameters of a machine, exemplified by the transmission control parameters of a forklift.","PeriodicalId":344975,"journal":{"name":"2010 17th IEEE Symposium on Communications and Vehicular Technology in the Benelux (SCVT2010)","volume":"154 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124288757","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Public safety responder's need is to enhance mission critical voice with broadband data. Command and control applications aboard a vehicle are commonplace. There is a need to ease situational awareness and decision making by using cameras and sensor information. However, countries and user organizations are developing own solutions according to their legislation and requirements, because uniform standards are missing. This paper is a kick off for creating a common international ICT infrastructure for all emergency vehicles. This design research study concentrates on the data communications layer representing a tested prototype for a new multichannel data communication concept based on the Distributed Systems intercommunication Protocol (DSiP). When striving for high performance implying high rate, full-diversity and excellent coding gain, coded modulations have to be used. When linear precoding is used, error-correcting codes can focus on achieving a high coding gain and are not constrained in coding rate so that no bandwidth is sacrificed. However, optimal precoding schemes for coded modulations on block fading channels are not known because of the inability to deal with the randomness of the fading gains. We study coded modulations for block fading channels in the fading space. This geometric approach yields more insight and allows to take into account the randomness of the fading. It can be used to generate the system parameters so that the word error rate performance approaches the outage probability closely.","PeriodicalId":344975,"journal":{"name":"2010 17th IEEE Symposium on Communications and Vehicular Technology in the Benelux (SCVT2010)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132073717","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This procedure relies on the overal cooperation of nodes taking part to the Wireless Mesh Network. Each node associates a reputation value to its neighbours, which reflects the trust it puts in them. Based on that reputation value, the hop count is increased or decreased, depending whether the intermediate node is trusted or not. This mechanism enables to select the most trustworthy paths in the mesh. We present preliminary experimental results obtained with our implementation.","PeriodicalId":344975,"journal":{"name":"2010 17th IEEE Symposium on Communications and Vehicular Technology in the Benelux (SCVT2010)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116809224","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

RSM is effective even when the MIMO channel varies arbitrarily from frame to frame transmission. The RSM scheme evades the noise enhancement inherent in zero forcing (ZF) and minimum mean squared error (MMSE) based receivers and also avoids the increasing complexity that arises in V-BLAST receivers. Using Monte-Carlo simulations, it turns out that RSM outperforms the conventional ZF and MMSE receivers and is an interesting approach in the presence of co-channel interference.","PeriodicalId":344975,"journal":{"name":"2010 17th IEEE Symposium on Communications and Vehicular Technology in the Benelux (SCVT2010)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123833817","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
