This representation has a great practical interest due to the possibility to realize reasoning on classification with a fuzzy semantic network based system. The approach describes the theoretical aspects of the architecture of the whole experimental AI system we built in order to provide effective online assistance to users of new technological systems: the understanding of \"how it works\" and \"how to complete tasks\" from queries in quite natural languages. In our model, procedural semantic networks are used to describe the knowledge of an \"ideal\" expert while fuzzy sets are used both to describe the approximate and uncertain knowledge of novice users in fuzzy semantic networks which intervene to match fuzzy labels of a query with categories from our \"ideal\" expert.","PeriodicalId":344788,"journal":{"name":"FUZZ-IEEE'99. 1999 IEEE International Fuzzy Systems. We use the change of fitness occurred by mutation to form the reinforcement signals which estimate and control the step length of mutation. With this proposed method, the convergence rate is improved. Also, we use Cauchy distributed mutation to increase the global convergence faculty. Cauchy distributed mutation is more likely to escape from a local minimum or move away from a plateau than Gaussian distributed mutation. After an outline of the history of evolution strategies, we explain the evolution strategies combined with the reinforcement learning, that is reinforcement evolution strategies. To better address the practical bus operations problem, this research constructs a knowledge-based expertise for handling unexpected variations in demand. Significant results achieved by this research include the following: a commonly used linguistic descriptors in bus operations for various uncertain demand conditions are collected from experts. Individual experts' knowledge and judgement are properly adjusted to obtain membership functions for forming the fuzzification interface. A twenty-five generic fuzzy logic rules constructed can handle both single and multiple uncertain conditions. Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy model is used to model the nonlinear systems and a continuous-time fuzzy-model-based controller is designed based on an extended parallel-distributed-compensation method. The digital controllers are determined from existing analogue controllers. The proposed method provides an accurate and effective method for digital control of continuous-time nonlinear systems and enables one to efficiently implement a digital controller via pre-determined continuous-time TS fuzzy-model-based controller. This approach allows to search images not only with explicitly expressed keyword but also abstract keyword such as \"cheerful impression image\" and \"gloomy impression image\". It searches the goal with a small population size and generates fewer number of generations than that of conventional genetic algorithm to reduce user's burden. But this property may derive local minimum and sometimes more poor solution than random search method owing to relatively small size population. In order to solve this problem, we suggest an idea of sparse fitness evaluation method using clustering method and fitness allocation method. In the design procedure, we represent the nonlinear system using a Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model and construct a global fuzzy logic controller by blending all local state feedback controllers with a sliding mode controller. Unlike the commonly used parallel distributed compensation technique, we can design a global stable fuzzy controller without finding a common Lyapunov function for all local control systems, and can obtain a good tracking performance. Furthermore, a stability analysis is carried out not for the fuzzy model but for a real nonlinear system with uncertainties. Especially, several researchers have constructed a mobile robot controller that can avoid obstacles, evade predators, or catch moving prey by evolutionary algorithms such as genetic algorithms and genetic programmings. In this line of research, we presented a method of applying CAM-Brain, an evolved neural network based on cellular automata, to control a mobile robot. However, this approach has limitations when making the robot perform appropriate behavior in complex environments. In this paper, we have attempted to solve this problem by combining several modules evolved to do simple behavior by a rule-based approach. The control problem investigated is difficult because the process has significant dead-time, is time variant and also it is non-linear.
