NSPs use routing protocols that are optimized for a single arbitrary metric (i.e., administrative weight), which is commonly calculated according to the link state information, to select network paths. Despite the advantages, link-state protocols lack the ability to select network paths by considering the states of network devices such as the effect of routers for network path selection. Apparently, studying possible techniques for selecting network paths based on the state information of network devices, e.g., routers, has become obligatory. This paper hypothesis to calculate a composite path selection metric by employing the state information of network devices; the proposed method selects the network paths based on the cumulative packet traveling time. By simulating proposed method using an ISP topology, the proposed method is examined for the effectiveness of using network device state information for network path selection.","PeriodicalId":343372,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th National Conference on Technology and Management (NCTM)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117262793","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To study traffic congestions due to failure of traffic lights, the traffic characteristics at intersections should be investigated. Capacity of the intersection is the main factor influenced for congestions. Data were collected at three intersections Malabe, Battaramulla and Rajagiriya and capacity of each identified. The capacity of each intersection was studied according to the Peak Hour Malabe and Rajagiriya had PHF of 0.95 and Battaramulla had the value of 0.91. Accordingly, the effective simple suggestions to manage these intersections may be introduction of telephone booth and police cabin to use the case of emergency.","PeriodicalId":343372,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th National Conference on Technology and Management (NCTM)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121377717","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
