His behaviour in the football field arouses controversy repeatedly and is not estimated unequivocally. Referring to that, in the article the analysis of value judgement of Glik and his football activity (primarily his fouls) has been done. The material consists of Polish and Italian texts published on websites. Not only general positive and negative approach is significant, but also that resulting from supporting a specific football team or from the authors’ nationality. a distinctive element in the article consists of numerous and favorable opinions regarding brutal acts on the football field. The expression was first introduced into the Polish discourse during the parliamentary campaign of the Law and Justice party (PiS) before the election of October 25, 2015. In the periods following its introduction — during the first year of the Law and Justice government (10.26.2015–10.26.2016), and after one year until now (10.27.2016–6.09.2017) — the phrase has gained new meaning. The analysis is based on fifty examples of the usage of the expression good change featured in various articles published online. Kowalska","doi":"10.18778/0208-6077.52.08","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.18778/0208-6077.52.08","url":null,"abstract":"Accent, defined by Wells (1982a: 1) as “a pattern of pronunciation used by a speaker for whom English is the native language (...)”, has been an important notion in the English sociolinguistic studies. The English assess and are assessed by other native speakers on the basis of the way they speak (Meyerhoff 2006). There is a multitude of accents in Great Britain as inhabitants of each region speak in their own distinctive manner. It appears that the accent of each region carries some social values and native speakers have a tendency to attribute certain characteristics to users of a given accent (Wells 1982a). For instance, speakers of accents of southern England are regarded as more intelligent, with a higher social status than it is the case in north urban England (Stockwell 2007). The present paper describes a study conducted on the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), one of the largest networks of radio stations, TV channels as well as commercial activities worldwide. It analyses the pronunciation of BBC radio presenters with respect to a standard English accent known as Received Pronunciation (RP). In the analytical part one can find statistical data received from the research, which are then confronted with those received by other researchers. The main research aim was verifying progressive of standardisation of the Polish language in comparison to the first part of the sixteenth century. Due to the fact that sixteenth century was a time of the biggest development of Polish language changes were dynamic. Presented research results are only general trends but they show us a progress of normalization. Polish author had a good intuition with regard to developmental tendencies of 16th Polish language. The authors of the materials posted on this popular website implement a number of strategies based on discretization and the refusal to allow those against vaccinations to expose their views. With respect to particular strategies one may also find popular techniques of social influence or the use of the rhetoric of fear, guilt, and shame which is concerned with persuasive aims.
