This study has also highlighted the significant variables contributing in wheat productivity. The study universe was two focused villages namely Malok-Korona and Peer-Qila of Ekaghund Tehsil, Mohmand Agency. The proportional allocation sampling technique was used to get the required sample size of 70 respondents. However, 26 respondents from Malok-Korona and 44 respondents from Peer-Qila were interviewed through face to face interview technique. The marked findings of this study divulge that vast majority of the farmers (61.43%) were using certified seed and the study area was predominantly dependent upon rainfall as reported by 60 % of the respondents. It is further revealed that the mean cost of production incurred by the sampled growers was estimated as Rs. 30,000 per acre. Income trend observed by 70 per cent of the respondent through wheat crop was found Rs.40000 per acre. The average income of farmers through wheat crop was Rs.35286 per acre. The estimated results of regression analysis corroborate the expected sign of the majority of coefficient of explanatory variables. Among explanatory variables seed, irrigation and labor days were significant while urea and FYM were found insignificant for crop yield. The study recommends that attempts for awareness, supply of loans, inputs like fertilizer, pesticide, apt agriculture approaches, demonstration plots and training programs should be made available to farmers for higher wheat production in Mohmand Agency.","PeriodicalId":34255,"journal":{"name":"Indonesian Journal of Agricultural Research","volume":"6 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-02-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73125038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some types of osmophilic yeast can break down organic compounds, for example, starch. This research was aimed to isolate and identify existing osmophilic yeast in unripe jackfruits. In this research, the unripe jackfruit was left rotting and 2.5 g of the sample were taken to be solved in 25 ml 0.85% NaCl and diluted. The GYP (glucose-yeast-peptone) agar medium with the glucose concentration of 30–50% was suitable for osmophilic yeast growth. Isolate purification was performed using the streaking method from single colony. Isolates were identified based on physiological and morphological characteristics. The physiological characterization were carried out by running sugar assimilation test on the tool kit API 20C AUX, while the morphological characterization was carried out by performing macroscopic and microscopic observations. Four isolates were assumed to be Candida lambica, 3 isolates were assumed to be Candida rugosa and two isolates were assumed to be Geotrichum candidum. It was found out that 44.4% of yeast in the unripe jackfruit were Candida lambica, 33.3% was Candida rugosa and 22.2% was Geotrichum candidum. Candida lambica was the most common osmophilic yeast found in the jackfruit.","PeriodicalId":34255,"journal":{"name":"Indonesian Journal of Agricultural Research","volume":"26 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-02-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87348009","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To address the environmental issues, the Roundtable Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) organization has formulated principles and criterias (PnC) for sustainable practices of the oil palm plantation as a guideline, whereby it has to be adhered by all parties involved, including the smallholders. The study is therefore conducted to analyze the sustainable management implementation among smallholders in North Sumatra. In total, 320 and 137 schemed and independent smallholders from four oil palm plantations centers in North Sumatra were interviewed in 2012 and 2018 to see their progress. The levels of implementation for each group were determined based on their scores for each of the criteria, and were compared with the independent sample t-test. The influencing factors for implementation levels were estimated by using multinomial logit model. The results showed that the level of implementation for both schemed and independent smallholders were still low in both 2012 and 2018. Education, experience and participation were identified as factors that significantly influenced their sustainable management implementation levels. Therefore, it is suggested that trainings should be emphasized to improve the sustainable management implemenatation among oil palm smallholders.","PeriodicalId":34255,"journal":{"name":"Indonesian Journal of Agricultural Research","volume":"383 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-02-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84969686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this research was to analyze the marketing system and marketing channel of chicken eggs and to analyze marketing efficiency based on marketing margin, price share and profit ratio of chicken egg cost in Pematangsiantar Municipality of Simalungun District. This research was conducted for two months, from July to August 2017. The methods used in data collection were: sampling of breeders and other marketing institutions selected by snowballing sampling technique and data collection methods was done by interviewing techniques using questionnaire. Data analysis included: marketing costs, marketing margin,farmer share and profit cost ratio of each marketing channel. The results of this study indicated that there were four marketing channels. The marketing margin on the Channel II showed the smallest cost margin and the largest profit margin so that it showed the largest cost-benefit ratio. The largest farmer share was obtained on the Channel IV but this channel  used only the retailers as an intermediate channel (one level) and relatively few exchanged eggs. So it was concluded that the Channel II was the most efficient channel becauseof the smallest cost and that the  profits were spread evenly among all the marketing institutions that play a role. The need for chicken eggs in Pematangsiantar Municipality was supplied from outside the city (63.33%) and filled by breeders from within the city(36.66%). \u0000Keyword:localchicken egg, marketing channel, marketing efisiensi","PeriodicalId":34255,"journal":{"name":"Indonesian Journal of Agricultural Research","volume":"9 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76340987","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
