The investigation is motivated by the rise of Unbalanced Magnetic Force (UMF) resulted by asymmetric disposition of phase windings. It can be seen that a significant reduction of UMF is possibly achieved by employing uneven number of turns per coil. However, a slight reduction of torque performance exists which could be due to higher saturation on stator magnetic path at rated condition. Optimal sizing of components can reduce the cost of hybrid systems. This article illustrates the size optimization of solar-wind-diesel generator-battery hybrid system designed for a remote location mobile telecom base transceiver station in Nigeria. Different energy combinations have been analyzed using HOMER 2.81 (Hybrid Optimization Model for Electric Renewables) in order to determine an optimal model. Minimizing harmonic distortion is a challenging issue for power electronic drive. This problem can be solved by developing suitable modulation technique. There are number of modulation techniques established in the last decade. Among them, the space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) is extensively used because of their easier digital realization, better DC bus utilization and lower THD. Conventional SVPWM requires different number of logical computations of on time calculations and different number of lookup table for each triangle due to having their different number of switching states. In this paper, a simple SVPWM is presented where proposed only four logical computations of on time calculation, four active switching states and four lookup table for each triangle. Five level cascaded h-bridge inverter (CHBI) based on SVPWM technique are modeled and analyzed by using MATLAB/Simulink and origin 6.1 with a passive R-L load that can be extended to any level. These results are compared with other lower levels of inverter and with previous established results. In order to use electrical energy efficiently, the technical development of power electronics - or power conversion technology - is urgently needed[2]. In response to this need, our aim is to nurture power electronics engineers. To this end, we have constructed an education system that presents the complete picture to students from the basic structure of power devices through to their application circuits. By performing simulations using TCAD (Technology Computer Aided Design), this education can be provided at low cost because there is no need to create actual functioning devices. The proposed system deepens the understanding of students by clearly showing them the internal structure and impurity concentrations of power devices, something that is difficult to illustrate using real devices. A method to estimate the rate saturation limits from the best linear approximation is proposed and applied to the model in discrete-time. The approach has the advantages that it can be easily extended to the identification of Wiener-Hammerstein models whereby the rate saturation block is cascaded in a Wiener-Hammerstein structure and identification can also be carried out across the frequency bandwidth of interest. The purpose of the control strategy is to increase the capability of regenerative braking energy capturing and to improve DC bus voltage regulation. The control strategy uses cascade voltage and current control of SCs. The voltage and current references are calculated based on the speed command and acceleration including the power losses of the system. The whole electrical drive system is mathematically modelled and the core features of the control strategy are presented. Switching control methods are PWM and sigma delta modulation. The IBC used in this paper is the improved one which has some advantages over conventional IBC, e.g., higher efficiency according to reduction inswitches losses. In order to have ideal output, a PID controller is implemented such that the output voltage is regulated on the predefined value. Some indices are proposed in this paper in order to compare the waveform of the output voltage in the two mentioned switching methods. HEVs powertrain control plays an important role to accomplish control objectives such as low emission and good vehicle performance. This paper presents a system-level simulation and rule-based supervisory control strategy of a Split-Parallel Hybrid electric vehicle (SPHEV) which can be regarded as Parallel-HEV powertrain family. Advance vehicle Simulator (ADVISOR) is used to determine the sizing and ratings of key components of SPHEV driveline to satisfy specific performance constraints. Then physical model of the vehicle of interest is developed and simulated in Matlab/Simscape environment. In this proposed technique, the size of the population is significantly reduced without compromising the robustness of the original DE algorithm. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed MPPT technique, the algorithm is implemented on a boost converter and validated through several partial-shading patterns.
