To reduce computational costs, the LOGOS software package includes a method for modeling non-reflective boundary conditions that was developed earlier and implemented in the “Dynamics-2” software package, which allows reducing the size of the computational domain. The results of numerical simulation in the LOGOS of shear wave propagation in an elastic bounded subdomain of a continuous medium are presented, demonstrating the effectiveness of non-reflecting boundary conditions for a three-dimensional formulation. The dynamic relaxation technique used in the dynamic strength module of the LOGOS software package for calculating the initial static stresses from the action of the gravity field with the subsequent solution of the non-stationary problem is investigated. Numerical estimates of the expected accuracy of the dynamic solution are obtained, depending on the specified accuracy of the static calculation. Thus, the relative error in the change in kinetic energy when using the dynamic relaxation algorithm 10–4 gives a relative error of 10–3 in velocities and 10–2 in stresses, reducing the specified calculation error by 2 orders of magnitude reduces the relative error in calculating velocities by 3 times, stresses – by 5 times. The calculation of the initial stress-strain state of the building-ground system from the action of the gravity field is compared using the dynamic relaxation procedure and using the stationing procedure implemented in the “Dynamics-2” software package. In all problems in the three-dimensional formulation, 8-node hexahedra with one-point integration are used, in the two-dimensional formulation – equivalent 4-node finite elements, for the integration of the defining system of equations, an explicit “cross” scheme is used. Between the subdomains, variants of contact with gluing and contact with friction are implemented. The capabilities of LOGOS for conducting multiprocessor calculations allowed us to make estimates of the convergence of the problem under consideration based on a series of computational experiments.","PeriodicalId":340995,"journal":{"name":"Problems of strenght and plasticity","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133080125","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The publications and results obtained in this field have been analyzed. It is noted that one of the common characteristics of all the approximate methods of analyzing boundary-value problems is certain ambiguity in formulating finite-dimensional approximations of the solution. A boundary-value problem of determining eigen frequencies of a homogeneous membrane has been formulated. The basic idea of the approaches in question is that variables used in equations of mathematical physics can always be divided into two groups, one of which consists of the so-called measureable variables, such as displacement, velocity, temperature etc., and the other one includes non-measureable ones, such as stress, pulse, heat flow etc. Issues related to various classical formulations of spectral problems arising in the theory of elasticity have been investigated. The method of integral-differential relations is described, which is an alternative to classical numerical approaches. The possibility of constructing various bilateral energy-based evaluations of the accuracy of approximate solutions, following from the method of integral-differential relations has been studied. A one-parameter family of quadratic non-negative functionals has been introduced, the stationarity condition of which together with integral-differential constraints form a complete equation set describing dynamic behavior of elastic bodies. A projection approach to analyzing spectral problems of linear plasticity theory has been considered. Using the example of the problem of free vibrations of a circular membrane, the effectiveness of the method of integral-differential relations is demonstrated. Various energy-based evaluations of an approximate solution constructed using polynomial approximations of the sought functions are proposed. Application of the standard technique of Bubnov-Galerkin's method to the problem of free vibrations is shown to lead to the appearance of complex eigen frequencies, the real part of the eigenvalue being its approximate value, whereas its imaginary part being able to serve as an evaluation of the accuracy of the solution. The proposed numerical algorithm makes it possible to uniquely evaluate the integral quality of the obtained numerical solutions.","PeriodicalId":340995,"journal":{"name":"Problems of strenght and plasticity","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123150020","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A cylindrical coordinate system is used. A closed system of equations includes equations for the non-trivial components of the displacement and rotation potentials, as well as relations relating the displacements to the potentials and components of the stress and moment stress tensors with displacements and the angle of rotation. On the boundary plane, normal displacements are specified, and the angle of rotation and tangential displacements are absent. Initial conditions are zero. All components of the stress-strain state are assumed to be limited. A system of dimensionless quantities is used.\u0000The solution is represented as a convolution with respect to time and a generalized convolution with respect to the radius of surface perturbations with influence functions. To construct them, Hankel transforms are applied along the radius and Laplace in time, as well as expansion in power series in a small parameter in the linear approximation. Found image of all surface influence functions. For example, the following function is considered corresponding to the normal voltage. Its original is on the border of a half-space using the connection of axisymmetric and plane problems, namely, taking into account the proportionality of the Hankel and Fourier images respectively. It uses the previously constructed solution of the planar problem. As a result, the desired function is represented as integrals, which are understood in the sense of regularized values. Analytic expressions for these integrals and the influence function itself are found.\u0000Examples of calculations of the influence functions of a granular composite of aluminum shot in an epoxy matrix are given. Two variants of action on the half-space of surface normal displacements are also considered: the disturbance concentrated at the origin and distributed in a circle. Analysis of the results shows that the effect of the moment properties of the medium depends significantly on the value of the parameter characterizing the relationship of elastic displacements and rotational motions. For the material in question in quantitative terms it is not great. However, consideration of moment stress leads to qualitative changes. Namely, there is an additional wave front.","PeriodicalId":340995,"journal":{"name":"Problems of strenght and plasticity","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124608752","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Assuming relaxation modulus is arbitrary, the general expression for strain rate sensitivity index as the function of strain and strain rate is derived and analyzed. It is found out (within the framework of the linear viscoelasticity theory) that the strain rate sensitivity index depends only on the single argument that is the ratio of strain to strain rate. So defined function of one real variable is termed “the strain rate sensitivity function” and it may be regarded as a material function since it is interconvertible with relaxation modulus. It is found out that this function can be increasing or decreasing or non-monotone or can have local maximum or minimum without any complex restrictions imposed on the relaxation modulus. It is proved that the strain rate sensitivity value is confined in the interval from zero to unity (the upper bound of strain rate sensitivity index for pseudoplastic media) whatever strain and strain rate magnitudes are and its values may be close to unity (even for the standard linear solid model). It means that the linear viscoelasticity theory is able to produce high values of strain rate sensitivity index and to provide existence of the strain rate sensitivity index local maximum with respect to strain rate (for any fixed strain). These properties are the most distinctive features of superplastic deformation regime observed in numerous materials tests.\u0000\u0000The explicit integral expression for relaxation modulus via the strain rate sensitivity function is derived. It enables one to restore relaxation modulus assuming a strain rate sensitivity function is given. The restrictions on the strain rate sensitivity function are obtained to provide decrease and convexity down of the resulting relaxation modulus as a function of time, i.e. to provide necessary properties of a relaxation modulus in the linear viscoelasticity. Thus, the technique is developed to evaluate relaxation modulus using test data for strain rate sensitivity, in particular, using piecewise smooth approximations (by splines, for example) of an experimental strain rate sensitivity function.","PeriodicalId":340995,"journal":{"name":"Problems of strenght and plasticity","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116707171","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The finite-volume model is implemented in the Logos Heat digital product within the Logos software package. Logos Heat serves for numerical simulations of heat transfer processes in solids and in air gaps without convective heat transfer. Its methods and algorithms enable thermal simulations of three-dimensional and two-dimensional (including axisymmetric) structures under steady and unsteady conditions using nonconformal mesh models considering contact energy release. We selected and considered the most common ways to determine the heat partition coefficient for the energy released by two solids being at rest or in sliding contact. The methods and algorithms incorporated in the numerical scheme of the Logos Heat product to consider the contact energy release were assessed using a case with a known exact solution and numerical data reported in. The analysis of the calculated data shows that the maximum error does not exceed 0.1% for the resting model and 8% for the sliding-contact model, which indicates that the methods and algorithms are appropriate for such simulations. The study of the development of instability and structure formation in the dislocation ensemble is carried out on the basis of the method developed for charged particles in plasma and associated with the correlation interaction of electrons and positively charged ions. Accordingly, the screw dislocation ensemble is represented as a system of dislocations with an opposite Burgers vector, i.e., as a plasma-like medium with opposite dislocation charges. The total dislocation charge of the dislocation ensemble is equal to zero due to the law of conservation of the Burgers vector. In this situation, the elastic field of dislocations is “cut off”. The stress field of a single dislocation is shielded by a uniformly distributed dislocation “background” and is characterized by a certain effective potential. It is found that at long distances it decreases exponentially. Therefore, the value in the argument of the falling potential can be considered as the radius of screening of the elastic field of dislocations. It is shown that the screening radius is equal to the correlation radius, which makes it possible to construct a two-particle correlation function and find the energy of the correlation interaction of dislocations. A system of kinetic equations for a dislocation ensemble is formulated, taking into account the elastic and correlation interaction of dislocations, as well as the processes of their generation and annihilation. The criterion of instability of the homogeneous distribution of dislocations for the formulated system of equations is established. The instability criterion is met under the condition that the dislocation density exceeds a certain critical value that depends on the square of the flow stress and material constants (such as the Burgers vector modulus and shear modulus, as well as indirectly, the packing defect energy). In the framework of linear analysis, it is shown that when one system of sliding screw dislocations is taken into account, a one – dimensional periodic dislocation dissipative structure is formed at the moment of instability occurrence, and when multiple sliding is taken into account, solutions appear in the form of various variants of polyhedral lattices (cellular structures). It is established that the characteristic size of the cellular structure coincides with the experimental dependence both qualitatively and quantitatively ( the cell size is proportional to the square root of the dislocation density, and the proportionality coefficient is about ten). It is shown that the origin of spatially inhomogeneous dislocation structures, based on correlation instability, depends mainly on the features of the elastic interaction of dislocations and is not critical to the choice of the mechanisms of their kinetics (i.e., the mechanisms of generation, annihilati","PeriodicalId":340995,"journal":{"name":"Problems of strenght and plasticity","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127588978","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The solution of the formulated initial-boundary value problem is based on an explicit numerical “cross” scheme. The possible weakened resistance of reinforced plates to transverse shear is taken into account on the basis of kinematic hypotheses of the Reddy theory. The geometric nonlinearity of the problem is considered in the Karman approximation. It is shown that in the framework of Reddy theory, an explicit numerical scheme cannot be constructed for all arbitrary structures of spatial reinforcement of plates. The dynamic nonlinear elastic behavior of plane-cross and spatially reinforced rectangular plates under the action of an air blast wave is investigated. It is shown that with a strong anisotropy of the composition for relatively thick plates, the replacement of the plane-cross structure of the reinforcement with the spatial structure allows to reduce the flexibility of the structure in the transverse direction by tens of percent (up to 30% or more), and the intensity of deformations in the binder - at times. The reducing the relative thickness of the plate and the degree of anisotropy of its composition reduces the effect of replacing the plane-cross structure of the reinforcement on the spatial structure. In some cases, this effect may not appear even in relatively thick composite structures of more complex geometric shape, for example, in annular plates with a rigid inner insert.","PeriodicalId":340995,"journal":{"name":"Problems of strenght and plasticity","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134414148","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the first approximation, the equations and boundary conditions corresponding to the traditional non-classical Reddy theory follow from the relations obtained. The numerical solution of the formulated initial-boundary value problem is based on an explicit “cross” scheme. The features of visco-elastic-plastic dynamic deformation of an orthogonal reinforced cylindrical rectangular panel under the action of a load caused by an air blast wave are investigated. It is shown that in some cases even for relatively thin reinforced shallow shells, Reddy's theory is unacceptable for obtaining adequate results of calculations of their visco-elastic-plastic dynamic behavior. It has been demonstrated that the shape and size of the residual deflections of curved composite panels substantially depend on which face surface of the structure (convex or concave) an external load is applied. It was found that in both cases of loading, residual deflections lead to the formation of longitudinal folds in a thin cylindrical reinforced panel.","PeriodicalId":340995,"journal":{"name":"Problems of strenght and plasticity","volume":"292 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117215805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
