The following seven treatments were used, control, brassinoloide at 1 mg/L, brassinoloide at 2 mg/L, 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid at 10 mg/L, 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid at 20 mg/L, brassinoloide at 1 mg/L + 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid at 10 mg/L and brassinoloide at 2 mg/L + 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid at 20 mg/L. The treatments were applied twice at full bloom and after fruit set with ten days. The results showed that pre-harvest application of 2 mg/L brassinoloide increased fruit set, fruit retention, yield, average fruit weight, average fruit size and ascorbic acid. Pre-harvest applications of 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid either at 10 mg/L or 20 mg/L increased fruit set, retention, yield, fruit weight, size, fruit firmness and ascorbic acid. The formulation containing 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid plus brassinoloide either at low concentration or high concentration enhanced fruit set, yield, firmness, fruit physical and chemical quality of “Keitt” mangos fruit.","PeriodicalId":34040,"journal":{"name":"SVUInternational Journal of Agricultural Sciences","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47630243","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thrips tabaci Lind. is the most damaging insect pest attacking onion plantations in the field. The present study was conducted at the Farm of Shandweel Agricultural Research Station, Sohag Governorate, Egypt during 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 seasons to evaluate the efficacy of some compounds against T. tabaci infesting onion plants. The effectiveness of three chemistry synthetic insecticides (emamectin benzoate, spinetoram and pyridalyl), two microbial insecticides ( Bacillus thuringiensis and Trichoderma longibrachiatum ) and two botanical extracts (garlic and chili), in addition to mineral oil against onion thrips was evaluated under field and laboratory conditions. In the field, data indicated that synthetic chemical insecticides gave higher reduction than other treatments in both seasons. Depending on the general mean, the highest reduction was observed on spinetoram in the two seasons. For safe materials, only chili extract gave reduction > 50%, with mean reduction percentage of 51.06% in 2021/2022 season. In laboratory, data clearly indicate that the tested compounds could be descendingly arranged based on LC 50 values as follows: spintoram, emamectin benzoate, pyridalyl, chilli extract, Garlic extract, Bacillus thuringensis , Trichoderama longibrachiatum , mineral oil.","PeriodicalId":34040,"journal":{"name":"SVUInternational Journal of Agricultural Sciences","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47739118","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the other hand, it led to a decrease in the percentage of the total calcium carbonate in the soil. These effects increase with increasing the rate of biochar added to the soil. In addition, the use of banana waste biochar at low rates (0.5 and 1%) led to an increase in the plant height, root length, dry matter yield of plants and N, P and K uptake by plants compared to other treatments. On the other hand, application of banana biochar at rates 2 and 5% gave significant decreased in the height of plants, root length, dry matter yield and N, P and K uptake by plants compared to other treatments. These results show that, additional research is required to determine the short-and long-term effects of adding banana waste biochar treatments on the characteristics of the soil and available nutrients as well as plant growth and nutrients uptake under field conditions and extensive trials.","PeriodicalId":34040,"journal":{"name":"SVUInternational Journal of Agricultural Sciences","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46716282","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For ploughing, threshing, and milling, the tasks were completed in fewer amounts of time, totalling 72.3, 37.1, and 58.9 hours per hectare, operations like threshing, harvesting, and ploughing have not yet been automated. The contributions of agricultural machinery were around 42%, 2%, and 65%, for ploughing, harvesting, and threshing respectively, small rice milling equipment handled the entire milling process. Farmers who were interviewed said that human effort will be needed for at least 20 to 30 working days to prepare the land. By using hand tractors, this period was considerably cut down to only 3-5 days, the amount of time needed for other tasks that machines substituted also decreased, as mechanical farming replaces human labor, the need for human labour will continue to shrink in the future. Before the introduction of machinery, hired labour was mostly needed for ploughing. While family labourers often performed light and simple tasks like planting, fertilizing, etc. Hired labour made up a much smaller portion of the transplanting, weeding, and harvesting processes, accounting for 22%, 17%, and 29%, respectively. The use of machines to perform agricultural work instead of manual tools not only reduced the amount of time spent working hard (drudgery) during rice cultivation but also decreased farming expenses and increased the farmer's revenue.","PeriodicalId":34040,"journal":{"name":"SVUInternational Journal of Agricultural Sciences","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45904057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through the use of nanotechnology, nanoparticles, which have been discovered to have several novel properties different from those of bulk materials or commercial salts of these minerals, can be used as a supplemental source of trace minerals in diets. Feed additives such as trace mineral nanoparticles play an active role in poultry production productivity. Zinc is a trace element that improves broiler growth performance and meat quality. Furthermore, zinc can benefit animals in a variety of ways, including antioxidant, protein synthesis, glandular development, carbohydrate metabolism, and production performance, in addition to acting as a cofactor in over 300 metalloenzymes. Broilers fed a zinc-rich diet showed an improvement in immune response. This study aimed to provide an overview of nano-Zno's impact on broilers' productive performance.","PeriodicalId":34040,"journal":{"name":"SVUInternational Journal of Agricultural Sciences","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43320748","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This comprehensive review article delves into various aspects of pigeon farming, providing insights into raising, caring for, and feeding these birds. In the past, pigeon rearing was primarily a hobby, but in the present, it has evolved into a profitable economic activity due to the increasing value of pigeons. Nowadays, people are engaged in farming pigeons for economic gain. As a result, pigeon rearers now recognize the importance of understanding the proper markings of fancy pigeons to produce purebred birds. The literature hasn't gone into great detail about the performance of domesticated pigeons. Although the majority of the studies had somewhat needed nutrient, results were rare. Since there are nearly endless alternatives for nutrient requirements levels and period of feeding, more research is necessary. It is difficult to compare results when there is a lack of standardisation. Despite the fact that pigeons are used by humans as experimental animals, ornamental birds, sports birds, and for meat production, little is known about their nutritional needs. More research conducted in more controlled settings is still needed.","PeriodicalId":34040,"journal":{"name":"SVUInternational Journal of Agricultural Sciences","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42226565","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
