However the legacy routing algorithms (e.g. Dijkstra) could not seize the congestion determined by any other event except link failure and/or Layer 2 technology changes. Instead of a sophisticated mechanism we select the most competitive path determination solution to be used by a generic link-state based routing protocol, operating similar to a gearbox system. We suppose the Service Providers work with the Modified Dijkstra's algorithm for a single path routing. Whenever a multi-path delivery is needed, the Ford-Fulkerson scheme might be considered. For Infrastructure Providers the mechanism is similar, except the single path approach, involving this time the Floyd-Warshall algorithm. This paper does not cover the routing protocol implementation, being rather a case study. The major achievement of this proposal refers to a more efficient use of resources (i.e. Available Transfer Rate). The feasibility of this idea was demonstrated with per algorithm OMNET++ simulations on eight-node topology. The scalability is limited to an autonomous system and inter-domain routing solution is for further work.","PeriodicalId":340032,"journal":{"name":"2011 18th IEEE Workshop on Local & Metropolitan Area Networks (LANMAN)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126517624","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although these models have shown very good results in many controlled studies, the complexity of their implementation may be an important factor for preventing their large adoption in real production environment. We advocate that simpler forecasting models can also show very good accuracy — similar to the complex ones — for real scenarios of LAN/MAN network traffic, and being less intricate to implement and deploy in practical network management applications. In this paper we investigate the goodness of fit of nine classic forecast models applied to IP traffic samples drawn from real networks. The obtained results support our hypothesis given that the simpler investigated models demonstrate prediction accuracy very close to the advanced models for the studied scenarios.","PeriodicalId":340032,"journal":{"name":"2011 18th IEEE Workshop on Local & Metropolitan Area Networks (LANMAN)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132599996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It employs computer-vision techniques and Quick Response codes (QR-codes). We have implemented a prototype on Android platforms and evaluated its performance with systems metrics and subjective tests. We discuss our findings and challenges in prototyping on Android OS. The analysis indicates that the network and the server are the main sources of delay, while the CPU load may vary depending on the specific Forthroid operation. The preliminary subjective test results suggest that users tolerate these delays and the offered services can be particularly useful.","PeriodicalId":340032,"journal":{"name":"2011 18th IEEE Workshop on Local & Metropolitan Area Networks (LANMAN)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133300457","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Yet these service providers seek methods to authenticate the location of clients to enhance targeted service delivery and support their advertisers.
