It presents the academic community with details of this teaching experience to facilitate the exchange of knowledge regarding teaching methods for the course. Additionally, this study aims to trace how professors at the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies implemented the course development plan. Methodology: This study employs a descriptive method by describing the teaching practice surrounding the Islamic Culture course and the students' interaction with the course's practical elements. It also examines the course's multiple enhancements. Furthermore, this study involves analysis and deduction to identify indicators related to classroom planning and management. The study employs an inductive approach by randomly selecting teaching models and categorising them based on performance and similarities. Results: Identification of variations among teaching models, some aligning with the course development plan while others do not. There is no universal solution to these variations in teaching, and the unique nature of teaching the course requires adapting modern teaching methods to each particular situation, especially since the course is open to students from various backgrounds and specialities. Authenticity: Despite the richness of the experience teaching the Islamic Culture course at the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Qatar University, this experience still lacked adequate analysis and description. Hopefully, this study will serve as a scholarly presentation of this experience.","PeriodicalId":339273,"journal":{"name":"Journal of College of Sharia & Islamic Studies","volume":"15 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140520404","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methodology: We employed a descriptive approach to review the educational situation of Arab Muslim students, to elucidate the nature of the awareness-building element in the Islamic Culture course and to present its goals and core elements. Additionally, we used an analytical approach to analyse the aspects of Islamic educational theory operative in implementing these objectives. Results: We found that dialogical and independent learning should lie jointly at the basis of the Islamic Culture course because together they achieve the course's main objective, observing the general specifications in defining the course's content, which are inclusiveness, generality, emphasis, standardisation, and focus. Originality: This study elucidates a critical issue that still needs explanation: the cognitive framework on which the Islamic Culture course relies and its practical implementation for specialised and non-specialised students. In so doing, the study's perspective offers a fresh outlook on the course's characteristics.","PeriodicalId":339273,"journal":{"name":"Journal of College of Sharia & Islamic Studies","volume":"16 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140521042","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These threats include atheism and the disconnection between belief and its practical implementation. How do we confront these threats? How do we transform our beliefs, values, and authentic customs from a state of stagnation into a culture guiding the behaviour of our youth? Methodology: This study employs descriptive and analytical methods to present and clarify the most important doctrinal and intellectual threats to today's Islamic culture, listing commonly proposed remedies for protecting our youth from these dangers. Top of Form Results: Our Islamic culture still faces numerous threats in this era of globalisation, the most dangerous being doctrinal and intellectual. The disconnection between belief and its practical implementation and the emergence of new forms of atheism are doctrinal threats that we must address by establishing a solid theological groundwork. Misconceptions about the relationship between religion and the world in which we live and the concept of freedom in Islam represent intellectual threats that require further elaboration of the stance of the Sharia on these issues. Originality: This study's scientific value lies in identifying today's major doctrinal and intellectual threats to our Islamic culture, particularly the contemporary threat of atheism. It elucidates the seriousness of these threats and their characteristics, listing the most commonly proposed remedies to confront them and achieve resilience and immunity for our university students.","PeriodicalId":339273,"journal":{"name":"Journal of College of Sharia & Islamic Studies","volume":"17 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140518518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To document this developmental experience, study it, and disseminate it for further progress and the benefit of others, this study expounds the theoretical aspects of this wide-ranging development and its methodology, revealing the scope in which it differs from prevailing methods, the extent of its impact on creating the course, and the degree of rigour in its construction thanks to using a pilot. Methodology: This study adopted a descriptive-historical method and a documentary-analytical approach. It described the theoretical aspect of the course development pilot, placed it in its historical context, documented it, analysed the governing methodology, illustrated the interrelation of its components, highlighted its uniqueness, and assessed its impact on the course's development. Results: It is essential to consider the historical context in developing the course, as it reveals the motives for its introduction, its actual need, and its uniqueness, providing valuable insights for the development process. Qatar University's comprehensive course development methodology stands out by the interconnectedness between its unique constitutive elements and its effectiveness in addressing serious challenges once identified. Organising a pilot before the course's widespread implementation was a critical factor in the success of the developmental project. Authenticity: The authenticity of this study lies in its comprehensive and unprecedented analytical documentation of an innovative methodology for course development, including a pre-implementation pilot.","PeriodicalId":339273,"journal":{"name":"Journal of College of Sharia & Islamic Studies","volume":"28 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140526528","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It also seeks to propose general rules and guidelines in criticism and comprehension, stressing the necessity of offering Islamic Culture courses free from flaws. Methodology: This study employs an inductive approach by examining selected Islamic Culture textbooks prescribed in some Arab universities. It then briefly assesses their value according to the critical methodology of hadith scholars. The study followed an authentic approach rooted in professional methods of criticism and comprehension through inductive analysis of traditions, identifying essential rules and guidelines in dealing with them. Results: This study emphasises the importance of properly selecting the material used in Islamic Culture courses, which necessitates careful and critical scrutiny of the traditions that these courses rely on. Moreover, it identifies the major factors in textual criticism, such as the combined analysis of chains of transmission and the traditions they authenticate and adherence to the requirements for strengthening traditions through corroborative evidence, following the rules set by hadith scholars. Some Islamic Culture courses turned out not to strictly adhere to these standards. Additionally, this study highlights the importance of forming specialised academic committees from various Islamic disciplines and involving scholars in psychology, sociology, media and the Arabic language in developing and reviewing Islamic Culture courses. Collaboration through reputable academic institutions is also encouraged. Authenticity: The authenticity of this research lies in its relevance for Islamic Culture courses, significantly enhancing cognitive awareness, shaping students' behaviour, refining concepts and terminology, correcting misconceptions, ideas, and behaviours, and solidifying a culture of moderation and centrism. This requires reliance on the most reliable Islamic sources, primarily the Prophetic Sunna, and a sound interpretation of whatever has been said about the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).","PeriodicalId":339273,"journal":{"name":"Journal of College of Sharia & Islamic Studies","volume":"26 22","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140518285","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It explores how this engagement, a distinguishing feature of the adherents of the Sunni tradition (Ahl al-Sunna wal-Jamāʿa, i.e. those who follow the Quran & the Prophet's teachings), resulted in the isolation of deviant sects with political or ideological inclinations, especially the most dangerous among them, the Bāṭiniyya sect, which manifested itself as populism and heresy, combating Islam as it spread across the lands, toppling thrones, kingdoms, and empires. Methodology: The author employed a descriptive method while adopting an analytical deductive approach to identify the most dangerous challenges Islamic culture faces from within. Results: One of the most significant findings of this study is how to safeguard the beliefs and the practical application of Islam in daily life, protecting them from falling into the abyss of a distorted Islam or the \"Islam of Harm.\" This harmful version of Islam has always found its supporters among secularists, idolaters and infidels, ever united in their struggle to defeat it. Originality: This study's authenticity, depth, and precise diagnostic qualities are in harmony with the ground-breaking evolution of the Islamic Culture course at Qatar University.","PeriodicalId":339273,"journal":{"name":"Journal of College of Sharia & Islamic Studies","volume":"179 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140523448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
