The world has published 469 research publications in this field in 10 years during 2009- 18 registering (36.28%) average annual growth rate and high citation impact of (9.81%) citations per paper. The paper presents a profile of the top 10 most productive countries, 10 most productive organizations and 10 most productive authors on a series of quantitative and qualitative indicators in social cloud research. Gupta","doi":"10.5958/2249-5576.2019.00020.7","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5958/2249-5576.2019.00020.7","url":null,"abstract":"The present study has examined mobile edge computing global research output, as indexed in Scopus database during 2001-18 on a series of Bibliometrics measures, such as publications growth rate, global publications share, citation impact, the share of international collaborative papers, distribution of publications by broad subjects. In addition, the study discusses the citation profile of top organizations and authors in fog computing, and the preferred media for research communication and characteristics of highly cited papers. The global research output (2716 papers) registered 42.48% annual growth rate and averaged to 6.77 citations impact per paper in the subject during the period. 80 countries participated in mobile edge computing research, of which the top 10 countries accounted for 89.51% global publication share and more than 100% of global citation share during 2001-18. China and USA tops the list of top 10 most productive countries in mobile edge computing research with 26.69% and 20.840% global publication share, followed by U.K. (7.29% share), Italy and Canada (6.44% and 6.11%), France (5.01%) and other 4 countries (from 3.94% to 4.86%) during 2001-18. USA tops the list (15.0 and 2.22), followed by Italy (10.73 and 1.59), Canada (9.59 and 1.42), Germany (8.89 and 1.31), U.K. (7.86 and 1.16), etc. in terms of citation impact per paper and relative citation index. 519 organizations and 561 authors participated in global mobile edge computing research, of which the top 15 organizations and authors contributed 21.80% and 8.21% global publication share and 22.54% and 9.71% global citations share during 2001-18. Literature search method has been applied to derive some common conclusions and variations. It is found that libraries are important till yet for the users of primary information. Its visits are found significantly decreasing except academic libraries. Libraries are less used than homes and working places for accessing the information. Search engines are found constricting the use of libraries. Structured questionnaires were used to collect data from a population of 649 full-time doctoral students from different departments of the university. The analysis revealed that most of the researchers were daily users of the internet for 'research purposes' and 'email' is the most preferred social networking services preferred by them. Statistical analysis shows that the majority of the social networking tools and services have no significant difference with the gender of researchers except in the use of blogging service. It was also revealed that there is a significant difference in the use of social networking tools and services by the researchers with respect to their faculty. The study finds that mixed reality research registered faster (35.49%) growth, low citation impact averaged to (6.93) citations per paper, contributed too low share (0.03%) of its total research output in 24 years as highly cited papers. The USA, Japan, and Germany are seen as the world leaders in the subject, each had contributed at least 11% global publications share in 24 years. The data was extracted from SCOPUS database and produced a total of 2072 publications that were recognized to authors affiliated to GJUST 11.31 %) was the most favored subject category among authors. GJUS&T has the maximum number of collaborative scientific papers (137) with Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak. The most preferred journal for publication was AIP conference proceedings. The present study was carried out to determine the use of Social Media tools used for promoting the library resources and services in the academic libraries in Northern India. The library websites were analyzed for identifying social media tools being used. The study reveals that the majority of the academic libraries do not use any Social Media tool. However, their respective parent organizations use a few Social Media tools like Facebook, Twitter, Ask a Librarian and RSS feeds.
